Abstract

Palembang is a city that has the highest consumption level of catfish in South Sumatra. Most of the supply of catfish is produced by local farmers, and imported from other cities / districts in South Sumatra. Technical factors in cultivation are very influential on the amount of production of catfish farming. The technical factors include, broodstock, spawning techniques, feed, land and technology. This paper presents the results of the analysis using descriptive statistics on technical factors in catfish farming in Palembang. By using descriptive statistics, technical factor data in catfish farming becomes easier to inform and easier to understand.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to evaluate the effect of pH on growth performance and sustainability of Selincah fish, and to test the optimal pH range that can trigger the best growth performance of Selincah fish. The research method used is single RAL. The results showed that treatment with different pH had no significant effect on survival rate, feed conversion, growth of absolute weight, absolute length and daily growth rate of Selincah fish (P>0,05). The optimal pH range that can trigger the best growth performance of Selincah fish is pH 7,0- 7,5 with average value of absolute weight equal to 10,76 gram and average survival value equal to 87,5 %. Keywords : Survival Rate, Growth, pH, Selincah fish.

Abstract

The goldfish is a ornamental fish that it has color of variations from red, yellow, white, orange, black and silver . The study aims to determine the effect from the addition carrot flour the feed to improve the color of the goldfish. This research was conducted on October - November 2018 at Laboraturium Kolam Percobaan, Aquaculture Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture Sriwijaya University. Design the study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consist four treatments with three replications namely (T0) without carrot flour, (T1) 5% carrot flour in feed, (T2) 10% carrot flour in feed, (T3) 15% carrot flour in the feed. Parameters observed improving of goldfish, weight of fish, feed consumption, survival rate and water quality (temperature, pH and DO). The result showed of the study obtained a total comparison of the differences in color of goldfish was 8.15 (T0), 24.23 (T1), 22.92 (T2) and 18.75  (T3). Weight was T0 (0,87 cm - 0,85 g), T1 (0,99 cm - 1.04 g), T2 (0,89 cm - 0,63) and T3 (0,99 cm - 0,54 g). Feed consumption was T0 (9,25), T1 (9,94), T2 (12,00) and T3 (11,77). Survival rate was T0 (93,33%), T1 (100,00%), T2 (100,00%) and T3 (100,00%).  Water  quality during maintenance were temperature 25.0 ? 35.8 0C, pH 6.5 ? 8.9, DO 4.09 ? 6.30 mg/L.

Abstract

This study was aimed to analyzed growth and survival rate of tilapia with different feeding rate. Experimental design was used completely randomized design (CRD) with three treatments and three replications. The treatments tested were (A) 7% FR, (B) 5% FR, (C) 3% FR. The study was conducted using tilapia juvenile 5 cm with average weight 2 gram which was cultivated in 3,140 m3 fiber pond. The observed parameters include absolute growth, growth rate, survival rate, feed conversion rate, and water quality. The allocation of different FR of biofloc system significantly different on growth and FCR of tilapia, but was not significantly different on survival rate of fish. Treatment with 7% FR was giving the best results with absolute growth was 8,83 gram, day growth rate was 0,221 gram/day, survival rate with percentage of 89,67%, and FCR was 1,5. The optimal absolute body weight of this biofloc system was in 7,3% FR. Keywords : Biofloc, tilapia, feeding rate, the growth and the survival rate

Abstract

The demand of live carp is higher and the price can be higher than the price of died carp. One of  ways to transport live fish was wet transportation system. The aim of this research was to know the effect of red guava leaf extract for reducing metabolism of common carp during transportation. This research used completely randomized design (CRD) with defferent concentration with four treatments and three replications i.e. of P. guajava var. pomifera leaves extract 0% (T0), 0.25% (T1), 0.50% (T2), and 0.75% (T3). The observed parameters were survival rate, glucose analysis and water quality (temperature, pH,  Dissolved Oxygen (DO), Total Ammonia Nitrogen (TAN) and carbon dioxide (CO2)). Addition of red fruit guava leave extract into transport media during transportation increased the percentage of survival rate of common carp during transportation. The survival rate of during transportation common carp was highest on T1, with the concentration of red fruit guava leave extract by 0.25%. The value of average in blood glucose levels was found in T2 (0.50%). Addition of P. guajava var. pomifera extract was able to reduce TAN values during transportation and the addition of P. guajava var. pomifera extract did not cause further effects on the survival rate of carp during maintenance post-transportation.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of different levels dietary asatxanthin supplementation on growth performance of Snakehead. This research was used completely randomized design and be repeated three times. The fish used are natural source with average body weight of 2,90±0,17 g. Fish were reared for 30 days in sized nets 100x100x50 cm3. The experimental obeserved were different levels astaxanthin supplementation, namely; 0, 100 and 200 mg/kg diet. The result showed that, fed on the diet supplemented with astaxanthin 200 mg/kg diet produced the best final weight, daily growth rate and feed efficiency (8.24 g, 4.14% and 85.31%). The supplementation astaxanthin 100 and 200 mg/kg diet did not affect on survival rate of snakehead

Abstract

Cryopreservation of channa is needed to improve reproduction quality of seeds and broodstock. Some components are important for cryopreservation including quality and quantity of extender. The aim of this study was to investigate the influence honey as extender at different ratio on channa sperm cryopreservation quality. The research used response surface methodology (RSM) with three treatments (T); 300 mg. ml-1 (T1), 400 mg. ml-1 (T2), 500 mg. ml-1 (T3), which all treatments were replicated 3 times. The processed semen was equilibrated at 5°C for 3 h (chilling), packed into straws (0.25 ml), frozen and stored in a liquid nitrogen tank for 24 h before thawing and assessment of quality. Parameters observed were sperm characteristics such as (color, pH, concentration and sperm volume), motility and viability before and after cryopreservation. The results of this study indicated best treatment was honey concentration at 400 mg.ml-1 (T2). After 7 days preservation, the motility value was about 40 ? 70 % (4 score), viability percentage was 64.15% and no abnormality was occurred on channa sperm.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine the growth and survival rate occurs in the catfish larvae after being given a different kind of natural feed. This research uses 4 treatments and 3 repetitions. The fish test is used the catfish larvae 4 days old. Natural feed is include Tubifex sp. Moina sp, egg yolk and Commercial feed as fodder for control. The feeding is done 3 times a day in adlibitum. Parameters measured were weight and length growth, survival rate as well as several water quality parameters. The data have been obtained during the study, then analyzed statistically. The results of this research showed the highest weight growth of catfish in a row is the A of (0.166±0.015 gr) and treatment B (0.159±0.015 gr) further treatment C (0.143±0.015 gr) and then treatment D (control), namely (0.151gr ± 0.015 gr). Average of the highest length growth of a row are on treatment A (27.8±3 mm). Followed by treatment B (26.1±3 mm), further treatment C is (19.4±3 mm) and the lowest length growth in treatment D (Control), (15.9±3 mm). And the highest survival rate of catfish was in treatment A (38.55±13.48%), and treatment B (31.77±13.36%), then treatment C (28.88±13.19%) and the lowest survival rates in treatment D (25.11±13.00%). Keywords: Catfish, Natural Feed, Growth Out
