LiNGUA Jurnal Ilmu Bahasa dan Sastra (ISSN Print: 1693-4725 and E-ISSN: 2442-3823) is a journal of Linguistics and Literature which is published twice a year in June and December by Laboratory of Information and Publication, Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Islam Negeri Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang. The journal covers language issues researched in the branches of applied linguistics, such as sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, critical discourse analysis, pragmatics, stylistics, corpus linguistics, and others. In the area of literature, it covers literary history, literary theory, literary criticism, and others, which may include written texts, movies, and other media.

Abstract

Ibn Arabi is the type of the mystical-muslim philosophy. He was known as the founder of an idea “wahdat al-wujud”, and his theory explained that cosmos was created by God from its one-necleus. So, in spite of its external aspects different and has variations, its essence just one. It mind there is God attribut in cosmos, and God is the essence of its share. The common of mystical muslim coveted the “kasyf” to understand Him, The Great Unity, God. In this case, Ibn Arabi connected it and love. Love, Ibn Arabi said, had to come into existence becaose of “jamal”, the beaty which God-loved and “ihsan”, the beautiful attitude to reach love of God.

Abstract

Language learning deals with the concept of language truth, language teaching, language teacher, and language context. Sociolinguistics is one of the applied linguistics which answers to the questions of language in society and also language context. Thus, sociolinguistics has great contribution on language learning especially relating with the language policy and the choise of appropriate text-book which is suitable with the social context of language learner.

Abstract

Traditional “pesantren” is the oldest education institution in Indonesia, in which student or santri studies many important materials in Islamic studies such as : Tauhid, Fiqh, and Tasawwuf. Arabic language as the language of the two main references in Islam, Quran and Hadith,  and other classical reference in Islam is also  the main object of study in Pesantren  because of its importance as a means for understanding the references. The Arabic language is studied deeply especially in the aspect of grammar (qawaid). For this reason, pesantren is not only the center of Islamic studies but also the root of Arabic language in Indonesia.

Abstract

One of the obstacles in foreign language acquisition, including the Arabic is the minimal level of acquisition the students get. This is presumably caused by the unfavorable environment for the students to be accustomed to use the language, that encourages them to be learner-independent. For this reason, the education institution needs to develop boarding school to build the Arabic environment as an active and innovative in the process of language learning. There are some favorable factors as contributing to the language learning process and there are some other unfavorable factors hampering it. However, by involving any party and optimize the school environment, the language acquisition of the students can be optimized.

Abstract

Tulisan ini mendiskusikan tentang masalah feminisme di tengah masyarakat Amerika di era industri pada akhir abad sembilan belas melalui novel Main Street  karya Siclair Lewis. Pembacaan terhadap novel ini menunjukkan bahwa di penghujung akhir abad sembilan belas wanita Amerika mengalami diskriminasi dan tersubordinasi. Novel ini menyuarakan persamaan kedudukan antara kaum laki-laki dan perempuan di tengah kehidupan sosial.

Abstract

Makalah ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan konsep-konsep pembelajaran mandiri terpadu dengan kurikulum. Kriteria penerapan pembelajaran mandiri terpadu dengan kurikulum bisa dikelompokkan dalam enam wilayah  yang bersinggungan satu sama lain; pembuatan kebijakan, manajemen, pengembangan staf, training pembelajar, sumber belajar, dan desain kurikulum. Fasilitas yang efektif untuk perubahan kurikulum di dunia yang semakin mengglobal mensyaratkan para pembuat kebijakan kurikulum, pengembang dan pelaksana memiliki kompetensi yang lebih kompleks dan model referensi. Oleh karena itu, penerapan pembelajaran bahasa mandiri akan berhasil manakala dipadukan dengan kurikulum bahasa dan merupakan tambahan yang digarisbawahi dalam kerja kelas. Hal disebabkan oleh kenyataan bahwa pembelajar mandiri  diharuskan melakukannya dalam waktu lama dan latihan.

Abstract

Bahasa dengan keragamannya memiliki karakter yang berbeda-beda pula. Demikian juga perbedaan antara bahasa Arab dan bahasa Inggris. Kalimat sempurna dalam bahasa Inggris selalu diawali dengan subyek, sementara dalam bahasa Arab bisa diawali dengan subyek maupun predikat, yaitu yang dikenal dengan jumlah ismiyah dan jumlah fi’liyah, bahkan bisa diawali pula dengan kata depan atau preposisi yang jika dilihat dari perspektif bahasa Inggris bukan merupakan kalimat (sentence), tetapi merupakan phrase. Diakhirkannya subyek setelah predikat dalam bahasa Arab memiliki tujuan tertentu, baik dari sisi pengucap, pendengar maupun situasi dan kondisi. Yang demikian ini bukan berarti apresiasi bahasa Arab terhadap subyek tidak setinggi bahasa Inggris, tetapi ini semakin menunjukkan betapa bahasa Arab lebih dapat merepresentasikan kondisi jiwa dan perasaan pengucap maupun pendengar sesuai dengan kondisi.
