Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the brand development carried out by SMEs, the obstacles that occur, and the impact brand on SMEs performance. The in-depth interview method was carried out to the owners and managers of two SMEs in Jogjakarta namely Dagadu and Batik Soenardi. Interviews were conducted using a questionnaire as a guideline, with the intention of gaining an understanding of business practices and brand development processes. The data collection start from 15 November 2017 to 18 April 2018. Data obtained were analyzed using the within-case method, followed by cross-cases. Based on the research findings, it is known that the two SMEs have built brands through marketing strategies. The obstacles to SME brand development are limited human resources, intense competition, production and management. However, brand barriers do not significantly influence on sales, due there is a product uniqueness, which helps customers obtain the desired product.Keywords:          Brand, Brand Development, Barriers of Brand, Performance of Brand, Small-Medium Enterprise (SMEs).Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengembangan merek yang dilakukan oleh UKM, hambatan yang terjadi, serta dampak merek terhadap kinerja UKM. Metode wawancara mendalam dilakukan kepada para pemilik dan manajer dua UKM di Jogjakarta yaitu Dagadu dan Batik Soenardi. Wawancara dilakukan menggunakan daftar pertanyaan sebagai pedoman, dengan maksud mendapatkan pemahaman mengenai praktek bisnis dan proses pengembangan merek. Pengumpulan data dilaksanakan mulai 15 November 2017 sampai dengan 18 April 2018. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan metode within-case, dilanjutkan cross-case.  Berdasarkan hasil temuan penelitian, diketahui kedua UKM telah membangun merek melalui strategi pemasaran. Hambatan pengembangan merek UKM adalah keterbatasan sumber daya manusia, adanya persaingan yang ketat, produksi, dan manajemen. Meskipun demikian, hambatan merek tersebut tidak mempengaruhi kinerja merek  itu sendiri. Kata Kunci: Merek, Pengembangan Merek, Hambatan Merek, Kinerja Merek, UKM

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze financial ratios which included liquidity ratios, activity ratios, leverage ratios and profitability ratios to assess the financial performance of three type C hospitals managed by PT Nusantara Sebelas Medika. Data analyzed by Partial Least Square (PLS).  The results in this study showed that Liquidity  has insignificant effect on  Leverage  and cash flow. Activity  also has insignificant effect   on Leverage. Growth  has insignificant on Cash Flow. Instead, growth was significant on leverage. Liquidity, activity and growth also have significant effect on profitability performance and support with positive influence direction in this study. Finally, leverage and cash flow have significant effect on profitability performance.

Abstract

Large cities are developing followed by the development of shops that are managed in a modern way. This condition opens opportunities for female employees to get jobs as sales promotion girls (SPG) and cashiers. SPG and cashiers as direct services to consumers, so that attention needs to be paid to the work environment and work discipline because these conditions can support services to consumers. This study aims to analyze the influence of the modern work environment and work discipline on performance, as well as driving indicators of the performance of female cashier and SPG employees in Semarang City. The population of this study is the SPG and the women's cashier of modern shops in Semarang City. This study uses technical snowball sampling and purposive random sampling with a total of 100 respondents. Distribution of questionnaires using google.docs (internet) on the link https://goo.gl/forms/ lxm7HfLSX4huuxwt1. The results of this study, there is a positive and significant relationship between the modern work environment and work discipline. The drivers of women's performance are explained by findings. Modern environments such as Wi-Fi and pantry are things that can improve women's performance.Keywords:   Modern Work Environment, work discipline, SPG (Sales Promotion Girl) and CashierKota-kota besar berkembang diikuti pula berkembangnya pertokoan yang di kelola secara modern.Kondisi ini membuka peluang bagi karyawan perempuan untuk mendapatkan lapangan pekerjaan sebagai sales promotion girl (SPG) dan kasir. SPG dan kasir sebagai pelayanan langsung kepada konsumen, sehingga perlu perhatian pada lingkungan kerja dan disiplin kerja, karena kondisi ini dapat menunjang pelayanan kepada konsumen.Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis tentang pengaruh lingkungan kerja modern dan disiplin kerja terhadap kinerja, serta indikator-indikator pendorong kinerja pegawai Kasir dan SPG perempuan di Kota semarang. Populasi penelitian ini adalah SPG dan kasir perempuan pertokoaan modern di Kota semarang, Penelitian ini menggunakan  teknis snowball sampling dan  purposive random sampling dengan jumlah 100 responden. Abstract

This study analyzes the influence of age, gender, education, years of service, and number of family dependents on employee empowerment both directly and indirectly through employee performance. The sample was taken from 14 cigar companies in Jember Regency, East java, Indonesia, of which each company is represented by ten samples (respondents) who are randomly selected. The samples consist of 140 people. The study uses path analysis to determine the direct and indirect effects of the variables. The results showed that age, sex, education, years of service, and number of family dependents have a significant positive effect on employee performance and on employee empowerment. Employee performance mediates the effect of age, sex, education, years of service, and number of family dependents on employee empowerment.

Abstract

This paper main objective was to investigate whether  career development has impact on employees performance. This paper is quantitative in nature. Data for the paper have been collected through primary source that are from questionnaires surveys. The data have been checked through statistical software to find the impact of career counseling on worker efficiency, and career mentoring and skill assessment on employees performance. The population of this study was 1,116 lecturers and administrative staff  of 10 Private Higher Education in Central Java, Indonesia., and the taken sample was 250 respondents. Descriptive statistic tools SPSS were applied on the questionnaire to see the reliability and consistency. The result showed that career counseling had a positive and significant effect  on worker efficiency, and career mentoring and skill assessment had a positive and significant effect  on employees performance. The study recommends that organizations should encourage career counseling activities as a leeway of providing a sustainable framework upon which employees acquire the needed operational skills that will enhance their job performance in a typical organization.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze: work time allocation and the factors that influence the allocation of working time on the farming of rice made by man (husband) and (wife) women and the role of gender occurring within the household. The analytical approach used the model of average tabulation, multiple linear regression analysis, and gender analysis of the Harvard Model. This research used cross section data with a sample of 100 males (husbands) and 100 females (wives) of households of rice farmers. The results of research showed that the amount of working time allocation for male (husband) is greater than the allocation of working time of female (wife). Work time allocation the man (husband) influenced by land area and the amount of production.Women's work time allocation (wife) are affected by land area, level of education, and the number of family members.Gender analysis results show the man (husband) more productive activities and on the role of the woman (wife) on reproductive activities.Access and control in the household more done by men (husbands).The factors that provide a positive impact, namely the demographic structure of the region, institution/economic factors, the training performed by government institutions, and the attitude of the society that received intervention from outside.The factors which provide negative effects namely the norms of the community, and the local customary law.

Abstract

This study aims to formulate an institutional strengthening strategy in order to optimize the management of dryland farming as one of a central point in agribusiness in the Ex-Surakarta Residency, Central Java. The data in this study are collected using the participatory rural appraisal (PRA) method and analyzed with qualitative data analysis during 1 April to 30 September 2016 period. The strengthening strategy is developed through a focus group discussion (FGD) and analysis of hierarchy process (AHP). The result of this study shows that the institution of farmer production facilities is in a weak condition. Institutional within the cultivation activity, especially in the procurement of land, usually the norm of the lease are made jointly between two parties, while transactions between peasants and farm workers are made based on a Neoclassical contract which is built over a complex and long term relationship. In the institution of output processing, the relationship between peasants and processors can be included in a relational contract because it is based on the business relationship experienced by the two parties. Moreover, this study finds that the marketing institutional in the management of output is characterized by a fragile transaction between peasants and traders where in the level of supportive institutional, the role is still have not been playing well.Keywords: Institutional Strengthening, PRA, FGD, AHPPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk merumuskan strategi penguatan kelembagaan dalam rangka optimalisasi pengelolaan lahan kering sebagai salah satu titik sentral dalam agribisnis di Eks-Karesidenan Surakarta, Jawa Tengah. Data dalam penelitian ini dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan metode participatory rural appraisal (PRA) dan dianalisis dengan analisis data kualitatif yang dilakukan pada 1 April sampai 30 September 2016. Strategi penguatan dikembangkan melalui focus group discussion (FGD) dan analysis ofhierarchy process (AHP). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kelembagaan sarana produksi petani dalam kondisi lemah. Kelembagaan dalam kegiatan budidaya pertanian, terutama dalam pengadaan tanah, biasanya dibuat norma sewa bersama antara kedua belah pihak. Sementara itu transaksi antara petani dan pekerja pertanian dilakukan berdasarkan kontrak neoklasik yang dibangun di atas hubungan yang kompleks dan jangka panjang.  Pada lembaga pemrosesan output, hubungan antara petani dan pihak-pihak yang memproses hasil pertanian (pedagang) dapat dimasukkan dalam kontrak relasional karena didasarkan pada hubungan bisnis yang dialami oleh kedua pihak.  Lebih lanjut, temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kelembagaan pemasaran dalam output ditandai dengan transaksi yang rapuh antara petani dan pedagang dimana kelembagaan pendukung belum berperan baik dalam mengoptimalkan pemasaran.Kata kunci: Penguatan Kelembagaan, PRA, FGD, AHP

Abstract

Financial liberalization has significant role in fostering economic growth in the developing countries. However, it also cause a risk for the emerging countries when the advanced countries make an interest rate adjustment. This paper try to examine the economic adjustment both on emerging countries and advanced countries in response to the shift of risk perception in emerging countries. This study will simulate the shock of risk perception in emerging countries by using intertemporal general equilibrium economic model that are called G-Cubed Model. The simulation result from the model indicates that international financial flow has a significant role in explaining the spill over effect of the lost confidence in emerging countries. In the short run, there is a significant drop in consumption and private investment in emerging countries. In the long run output of the emerging countries is expected steady below the baseline. On the other hand, in advanced countries, there is a significant increase in private consumption and investment in the short run. Moreover, it is expected that lower interest rate stimulates the investment in the future in advanced countries.Keywords: G-Cubed, emerging, simulation, risk, financial flowLiberalisasi keuangan memiliki peran penting dalam mendorong pertumbuhan ekonomi di negara-negara berkembang. Namun, liberalisasi keuangan juga akan menimbulkan risiko bagi negara-negara berkembang ketika negara-negara maju melakukan penyesuaian suku bunga. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan analisis dampak dari pergeseran persepsi risiko baik bagi negara-negara berkembang maupun negara-negara maju. Studi ini akan mensimulasikan pergeseran persepsi risiko di negara-negara berkembang dengan menggunakan model ekonomi keseimbangan umum antarwaktu yang disebut Model G-Cubed. Hasil simulasi dari model menunjukkan bahwa aliran keuangan internasional memiliki peran yang signifikan dalam menjelaskan efek tumpahan dari hilangnya kepercayaan di negara-negara berkembang. Dalam jangka pendek, ada penurunan konsumsi dan investasi swasta yang signifikan di negara-negara berkembang. Dalam jangka panjang, output dari negara-negara berkembang diperkirakan stabil di bawah baseline. Di sisi lain, di negara maju, ada peningkatan konsumsi dan investasi swasta yang signifikan dalam jangka pendek. Selain itu, diharapkan suku bunga yang lebih rendah merangsang investasi di masa depan di negara-negara maju.Kata Kunci: G-Cubed, negara emerging, simulasi, risiko, arus keuangan

Abstract

This study aims to find out the empirical evidence of Indonesia capital market investors’ reaction toward presidential election 2019. The population in this study is the companies’ stocks which are included in the LQ-45 index during this study. The data used is secondary data in the form of LQ-45 stocks and daily Composite index three days before and three days after the event. By implementing the one sample t-test and paired samples t-test, the result shows that there is a positive and significant abnormal return around the event especially on the third day (t+3) after the event.  Moreover, there is an insignificant difference in the average of negative abnormal return and significant difference on the average of negative trading volume activity, before and after the presidential election 2019.
