Abstract

Tfl'is paper is to 1tudy the effect of organicsolvents and percolation time on oleoresinproperties of COllBia veru bark. The organic solvents used during the percolation process to extract the oleoreain consist of ethanol and acetone. Each extraction required percolation time,  consecutively 2, 3, and 4 hou'f'fl. The temperature of each procea  was milintained at 40° C.  The experiment  was conducted u1ing the factorial design, and the trend effect.  of percolation time  was 011Bea­ sed by  using polynomial orthogonal analysis.The •  results indicated that  the  eaential  oil and cinnamaldehyde contents  extracted  with  ethano,l aolvent were both significantly higher than those using acetone solvent. The polynomial orthogonal analysis revealed that the incieasing percolation time was linearly correlated with an increase in oleoresin yield and tiie essential oil contents. As for the ethanol the increaaein percolation time tent to decrease the cinnamaldehyde only. Abstract

Dranco prosa  (Dry Anaerobic Convenion) adalah proses fermentaai anaerobic yang dapat mengubah bahan organik menjadi biogu' (I,_,.,,,) dan humotex  (ke>mpo1 anaerobik). hnelitian  lni  mempelajari aspek teknia dan ekonomis peman­ faatan  limbah.  perkeburian  kelapa •wit    berujJa  tandan.: don kulit   buah mdggunakan  model perkebunan sawit seluas 2000 Ha.                                               .                                                                                                                                                                                                      Dari areal  tenebut  akan dihailkan 88 ton tanda,i 'basah dan •14  ton kulit  buah biuah perhari  atau 62  ton substrat pada  28% KK  (kadar kerirw).  Melalui proau  Dranco, aubmat  tersebut aian  diubah  menjadi biogas dengan kapasitas 2700 m8 CH4 (methane) atau .7881 kwh tenaga u.trik  dengan netto sebnar   6881 kwh perhari. Humotex yang dihalilkan adalah 8 ton pada  90% KK.                                                                                                                                          Analim   ellonona  menunjukllan Net Pre.,.t   Worth  Rp. •1184  Juta, BIC raio   1,83,  Internal Rate of Return 41,2%. Abstract

Penelitian  ini  bertujuan   untuk   mengetahui   aeberapa jauh  adanya •     keterlibatan   reaksi kimia  yang  tidak  diharapkan dalam penetapan   kadar nitrogen  dengan  metode  yang umum  difunaian terhadap mmpel  yang men,andung organik  N clan nitrite.  Penetapan  N~    dilakukan   dengan  metode  MgO. Auto..,.1y.,,       Devarda dan Montgomery   & Dymo.ck.  Penetapan kadar  organik  N  dilakululn  dengan  metode   Kjeldahl  dan  total­N  derwan  metode   pe,.,ulfat.   Metode   terwbut    dilakukan untuk    mentetahui  perolehan   !cembali  nitrogen   darl  bebnapa  mrnpel   yang  merupakan   c:ampuran aenyawa  organik  N dengan  N03 yang  telah  diketahui   kadar  nitrogennya.                                                                                                                     Hasil penelitian    menunjukkan    perolehan   kembali  nitrogen­  yang  lebih  kecil  atau  lebih  beaar darl  kadar  nitrogen sebenamya.    Hal  tenebut     menunjukkan     kecenderungan    kuat   adanya   pengaruh   reaksi •         kimia   yang   tidak   diharapkan. Rendahnya   perolehan  kem"bali N02  dengan  metode  Devarda  kemungkinan   diaebabkan  penRaruh  Cu Yo"1l mengaki"batkan N02  terdekompou    dan  menguap  pada  waktu  destilasi. Kuus aerupa padD metode  MgO kemungkinan   diaebabkan  teJ'iadi• nya  fiksasi  _N02   terhadap  aenyawa  organik   yang  •mengaki'batkan  perubahan   statua  mineral  N  menjadi  oragnik  N.  Me­ tode  Kjeldahl  memberikan   perolehan   kembali  organik  N yang  rendah  untuk  aenyawa  amino  dan azo  yang  kemungkinan diaebabluin  hilangnya  N  karena  reaai   dengan  N02_  pada  waktu  dedruksi pada •uhu  4000C.  Prose• nitroiai    atau  reaksi N02  dengan phenol  atau  naphtol  diduga  menjadi  penyebab  terlalu  tingginya  perolehan  kembali  organik  N dari a­naphtoldan 1­4­naphtoquinone   dari kadar yang aebenamya.
