Abstract

Dinoflagellates is group of phytoplankton as a primary producer. Dinoflagellates can be planctonic also epiphytic. This research was conducted in January 2017 in Nirwana Beach Padang City West Sumatera Province which aims to determine the abundance of dinoflagellates, genera of dinoflagellates and its association with waters quality parameter used survey method. Nirwana Beach is dominated by Thalassia hemprichii, seaweed and coral reef. Purposive sampling method to select the research stations which 3 stations that represent the sampling location. Chemical and phisic waters quality measured by insitu and exsitu. The results showed that 4 genera of epiphytic dinoflagellates identified that are Amphidinium, Gambierdiscus, Ostreopsis dan Prorocentrum. The abundance of dinoflagellates is higher at 1st station with 333,18 cells g-1 and smaller at 2nd station with 224,06 cells g-1. Analysis of linear regression showed that nitrate concentration directly proportional with dinoflagellates abundance with equation y = 200,96 + 1336,7x and phospate concentration inversely proportional with dinoflagellates abundance with equation y = 345,09 + (-1868,4)x.Keywords: Dinoflagellates, Thalassia hemprichii, Nirwana Beach, Abundance

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to know the condition of nesting beaches favored by green turtles (Chelonia mydas) and the effect of incubation temperature (heating source from incandescent) towards the incubation and hatching rate success. This research was conducted in October to December 2016 at the Turtle Breeding Facility at Jemur Island. This research used survey and experiment method. The research showed that the safe nesting ground with some vegetation on location I and the least predator at the location II, the wide beach area, and sloping beach with fine sand which making it easier for green turtles in digging the nest. These conditions were the reasons why green turtles choose Jemur Island as their nesting ground. Incubation temperatures effects the hatching rate success and hatching time of sea turtle’s eggs. The treatment that has the highest hatching rate is a 25 Watt light with average temperatures of 29.7oC which is 83.33%. Treatment using a 25 Watt light is the best treatment, with a highest numbers of hatching rate and has the fastest hatching time. Keywords: Hatching Egg turtle, Chelonia mydas, Jemur Island

Abstract

The condition of the basic of fishery port in PPS Belawan was almost all in goodwith standard of port facilities A class. But, its better to improve its function inorder to more efficient and effective. The port of facilities consist of wharf,harbor, main port, jetty, revetment, pool and cruise lines. To know the conditionand the level of utilization in PPS Belawan the researcher conducted the researchthrough survey method. Based on the calculation technique of utilizationfacilitywas goog. Then, the land in PPS area was 54,84 ha and had built the kindsof facilities to fishing equipment further. Until now, 51,74 ha is used and theempty land area was 3,2 ha. Furthermore, the it presentation was 94,17% and itwas good criteria. This pier was made of concrete that serves the place of load andunload the fishing boats. The level of pier utilization was 327,18% with theappropriate long was 503,86 metres. The main harbor road has the 2.512 metreslong and 9 metres with the concrete construction, the total of jetty was 3 unit withsize was 48 metres long and 7 metres wide . the revetment was made of concreteconstruction 256 metres. Abstract

The research was aimed to determine the good kinds of firewood as smoke liquid material for producing smoke flavored catfish (Cryproterus bicirchis) mostly preferred by consumers. The method used was experimental and composed as completely randomized design (CRD). The treatments were the used of different liquid smoke to produce smoke flavored catfish. The liquid smoke was pyrolyzed from different kinds of firewood, namely: laban wood (Vitex pubescens), rubber wood (Hevea brasiliensis), coconut shell (Cocos nucifera), and coconut fibers. The smoke flavored catfish produced were evaluated for the consumer preference assessed by hedonic test and the characteristic of physico- assessed for the content of moisture, total acid and total fenol, and the value of pH. The results showed that the best kind of firewood used for smoke material of liquid smoke was distilled laban wood because it had the highest score of aroma 7.7, existence 7.7, flavor 7.5, and texture 7.6 but not significantly different to those exposed on coconut shell. It was containing 0.8 ppm of total phenols, 0.4 % of total acid and pH value 6.2. Thus, the diminishing availability of laban wood in the nature could be replaced by the coconut shell as a biomass of agricultural waste.Keywords: coconut shell, Cryproterus bicirchis, laban wood, liquid smoke.

Abstract

Snakehead fish (Channa striata) inhabits the Sibam River that has polluted water and the Kulim River that has good water quality. As the quality of water affects the availability of food resources, it may influence the stomach content of the fish. A research aims to understand the stomach content of the fish was conducted on January-March 2017. The Index of Preponderance (IP) was calculated. There were 32 fishes from the Sibam River and 56 fishes from the Kulim River. Results shown that the main food of the snakehead fish was fish, IP value was 89% and 94% in the Sibam and Kulim Rivers respectively. Other types of food present in stomach of the Kulim’s fish were insect, bivalve and crustacean, but there was no crustacean in the Sibam’s fish. Data obtained shown that the water quality affect the availability of the snakehead fish food in general, as the fish food from the Kulim River is more various.Keyword : Sibam River, Kulim River, Stomach Content, Channa striata

Abstract

Anthropogenic activities conducted around the Parit Belanda River may produce organic pollutant that affect the water quality in general and it is reflected in the concentration of chlorophyll-a in the water. A research aim to determine the trophic status of the Parit Belanda River based on chlorophyll-a concentration has been carried out in December 2016. There are three stations namely station 1 (in the upstream), station 2 (in the middle), and station 3 (in the downstream). Samplings were conducted once/week for 4 weeks period. Water quality parameters measured were temperature, pH, transparency, turbidity, DO, CO2, nitrate and phosphate. Result shown that chlorophyll-a concentration range from 8.15-11.56 μg/L. Water quality parameters were as follows: temperature 28-290C, pH 5-6, transparency 46.5-55.8 cm, turbidity 19.24-25.06 FTU, DO 2.30-5.10 mg/L, CO2 32.96-54.94 mg/L, nitrate 0.076-0.137 mg/L and phosphate 0.221-0.264 mg/L. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the variability of Catch Per Unit Effort (CPUE) and chlorophyll-a and see the connection between the catch squid and chlorophyll-a concentrations found in the waters north of the island of Java in 2016. The data used is satellite image data Aqua MODIS Level 3 and using Quantum GIS applications 2.18. The analysis uses spatial analysis to see the variability of chlorophyll-a and CPUE while the analysis of the relationship between CPUE and chlorophyll-a simple linear regression. The results of the spatial analysis of data Aqua MODIS Level 3 has the highest maximum value is 63.443 mg / m³ in May with a minimum value is 0.070 mg / m³ and the average value is 1.160 mg / m³. From the results of linear regression analysis has a value of r is 0,4483 so that the effect of the concentration of chlorophyll-a to fluctuations in CPUE amounted to 20,1%.Keywords: Spatial Analysis, Aqua MODIS, Chlorophyll-a, and correlation of coefficient (r).

Abstract

This research was conducted from April 2017 to Mei 2017, for 30 days in Aquaculture Technology Laboratory of Fisheries Faculty and Marine Sciences, University of Riau Pekanbaru. This study aimed to determine the effect of type of feeding is best to fish growth and pigmentation of guppy. The method used in this study was a laboratory-scale experimental methods with experimental design completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments were given treatment level is P1 = Tubifex sp, Moina sp = P2, and P3 = artificial Pellets added carrot flour P4 = ornamental fish pellet. Abstract

The study wasconducted from 3stof May to 10th June 2017.The research to do cultivation technology faculty of fisheries and marine University of Riau.The research was conducted to determine the dose of recombinant growth hormone (rGH) of Ephinepelus lanceolatus supplemented in the commercial diet that generates the best performance on body weight, body length, specific growth rate, survival rate, feed efficiency, and feed convertion rate of river Bawal Air Tawar (Colossoma macroponum)in resirculation system.The dose of rElGH administrated was 1, 2, 3 and 4 mg/kg of commercial feed and no rGHsupplementation as control. Each treatment was design in triplicates. Pomfret fish at average 3-4 cm were reared in aaquarium in a density 10 fish/aquarium for 30 days. The fish were fed with the rElGH suplplemented diet once a three days at satiation. The results showed that growth body weight of 2 mg/kg feed was (8,25g), Specific growth rate 9,21 %, feed efficiency (107,7%), Feed convertion rate (0,96%),(P<0.05) than other treatment.Length of 2 mg/kg feed was 4,02 cm higher than other treatment, Survival rate of 3 mg/kg feed was 100 %.(P>0.05) than other treatment. Thus, supplementation rGH 2 mg/kg feed of Pomfret fish once in three days can be applied in enhance the growth Pomfret fish with a best performance of growth.Keyword: Pomfret fish, recombinant growth hormone, resirculation system

Abstract

This research was conducted in April 2016 located in Pondok BatuVillage, Sarudik Subdistrict, Tapanuli Tengah Regency, North SumateraProvince. The purpose of this study is to describe the characteristics offishermens wive, to analyze the time division of the fisherman wife between therole of housewife and the additional income earner and to describe the role of thefisherman wife in increasing the household income. The method used in thisresearch is survey method. Respondents in this research is the wife of fishermanwho work outside the house amounted to 25 peopleBased on the research result that the role of fisherman wife in increasingthe household income of fisherman have characteristic that generally aged (16-45years old) is classified as very productive age with number 22 soul. Educationlevel of fisherman wife is elementary school graduate amounted to 14 soul, themost dominant family count is 6-7 with 13 souls. Experience of wife of fishermanwork that is> 8 year with amount of 17 soul. Curious working hours given by thefishermans wife are as daily necessity traders around 84 hours / week, asprocessing of fishery products about 28 hours / week, as factory workers about 56hours / week and as animal raising around 28 hours / week. The average incomeearned by fishermens wife every month from the profession as the processing offishery products as much as Rp.625.900, as a day-to-day trader of Rp. 350.000, asfactory worker of Rp. 500.000 and animal raising Rp.430.000Key words: Role, Fisherman’s wife, Pondok Batu
