Abstract

Fishing gear effectiveness is a main parameter to measure effiency rate of fishing operation. At same time, fishing gear selectivity becomes a main consideration in preserving fish resources. Nowadays, the sustainability of fish resources is threatened because all fishers are attempting to narrow their net mesh size to increase their haul. The scarcity of fish resources and the increase of operational cost are dilemmas that can obstruct the implementation of effective and selective fishing operation based on the principle of fish resources conservation. The objective of research is to understand the effectiveness and selectivity rates of fishing gear. The indicators used to measure the effectiveness of fishing gear are boat speed during fishing activity and fish haul rate. Fishing gear selectivity is measured by comparing fish length during gonad mature and fish length during firstly-caught. This fishing gear selectivity is also used as the indicator of environmentally friendliness rate of purse seine. The calculation of fishing gear selectivity is begun by determining fish size at caught (Lc) and fish size at gonad mature (Lm) and then comparing both sizes with mesh size of purse seine.Result of research indicates that effective speed of fishing operation is achieved when boat speed is 7.1 knots with fish haul rate of 1,000 kg and with fishing operation time of 2,853 seconds. Fishing operation speed above 8 knots is not efficient because it produces quite significant increase of fuel consumption although fish haul rate remains similar. Purse seine used in Sampang waters is not selective because the size of mackerel fish (selaroides spp) at firstly-caught (Lc) is smaller than fish length at gonad mature (Lm), thus Lc < Lm. Fish size at gonad mature (Lm) is 19.35 cm, while fish size at firstly-caught is 18.6 cm. Regression analysis indicates that there is a close relationship between fish length and fish weight, which is scored at 84 %

Abstract

The aim of this research to know how to operate and develop the Vannamei production by using biofiter technology of seaweed to the farmer, keeper, young people and leader of the society. The results showed that the Integration of Gracilaria verucosa as a biofilter agent in aquaculture pond can increase the production of Vanname shrimp. The results were obtained 5 tons/ha of seaweed from the initial density of seaweed 1 ton/ha after 3 months of culture with daily growth rate of 4.18%/day. Vannamei shrimp growth of 0.5 grams to 16.7 grams/fish, shrimp production from 1 ton/ha to 3,5 tons/ha. Based on the economic analysis showed gains with the value of R/C ratio of 1.83 and a profitability of 80.08%. Biofilter methods is more likely, given the application is very simple, high adaptability, easy maintenance, and economic value. Socialization and counseling about the application of environmental friendly biofilter system using G. verucosa needs to be carried out at farmer pond.

Abstract

Vertikultur is one of effort to agricultural of narrow as urban farming. Efforts to obtain plant container and plant medium on vegetables pakcoy to compare the productivity model of vertical planting and horizontally with the application of fertilizer on strawberry plants optimally. The first study aimed to determine the combination of growing medium and materials vertikultur which efficient and effective for pakchoy growth in vertikultur, then continued a second study that application of a combination of materials vertikultur and fertilizer N, P and K on the strawberry plants at planting vertical and horizontal models. Combination treatment is the first study consisted of the first factor is the material vertikultur form of carpet, gunny sacks and plastic, while the second factor is the growing media consisting of soil, humus, rice husk and cocopeat using a randomized design factorial with three replications conducted in Gresik, East Java. In the research into two, the first factor is a model of planting both horizontally and vertically, while the factor two is a dose of NPK (0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%) on strawberry plants by using Design Grid Divided by 3 replications implemented in Batu, East Java. The results showed that the material vertikultur carpets and plastic with humus media have fresh weight pachoy same plant with soil media. Average penamaman with vertical and horizontal models have the same weight of strawberries where urea 3.75 g / tan, SP36 5g / tan and KCl 5 g / tan increase the yield per plant.

Abstract

Kondang Merak was lied on south of Java sea that has monitored coral reef inside. Environment condition such as load of terrestrial’s nutrient into the sea, increase of surface water temperature and tourism activities were affected on coral reef health. The massive Porites that common coral found in this location need be monitored gradually to see coral condition over time. The research was conducted on May 2015 in reef flat area of Kondang Merak. The aims of the research were to know distribution of massive Porites and oceanography condition in Kondang Merak. The highest sea surface temperature was 26,46o C in transect number 2 at station 1 (eastern part). Salinity of sea water was in normal range between 34, 42o/oo to 35,75o/oo, dissolved oxygen was on range 6 mg/l sampai 9,1 mg/l and pH was 7,23 sampai 8,68 respectively. Two species on massive Porites they were Porites lobata dan P. lutea. In station 1 the average diameter of P. lobata was 228.57 cm and P. lutea 63.89 cm, in while P. lobata in station 2 was 260.57 cm and P. lutea 153.56 cm.

Abstract

This study is a part of ongoing research to mainstay citrus productivity in Malang region. Therefore, the specific aim of this study is developing the design of sprinkle irrigation in field. Selorejois central location of citrus production called “KEPROK 55” in Dau-Malang. The cultivation requires maintenance of soil and plants, in addition the lower of citrus production especially in dry season thus indispensable an effort to increase the production. Application of technology using sprinkle irrigation is expected to create the increasing of Citrus production. Result on research study show that the coefficient of uniformity tends to have same value on all the treatment that is above 98%, where the average value of the coefficient of uniformity was 98.8%. The highest value of the coefficient of uniformity achieved at combination of treatment P1T1 (pressure of 1 bar with a riser pipe 50 cm height) that is equal to 99.78%. While the coefficient of uniformity was lowest at the combination of treatment P2T3 (pressure of 1.5 bar with a riser pipe 150 cm height) by 96.6%. The pressure effected to the coefficient of uniformity indicates that the greater pressure exerted, then the coefficient of uniformity will be higher. It indicated at the treatment of pressure P1, P2, and P3 (1 bar, 1.5 bar and 2 bar) that have the average coefficient of uniformity of 98.53%, 98.27%, and 99.64%.

Abstract

Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic inflammatory autoimmune disease associated with articular and systemic effects. This disease affects synovial joints covered by a special tissue called synovium. Curcumin has a potent antioxidant, antiinflammatory agent, antiangiogenic and anticarcinogenic. Curcumin can downregulate the expression of various proinflammatory cytokines and is reported beneficial effects in arthritis, but has a poor solubility dan bioavailability as well. The purpose of this research was to study the potential of liposomes topikal curcumin in reducing athritis score, reducing the expression of TNF-α and histopathological synovium hyperplasia of hind paw on Wistar rats with CFA that had been treated with topical curcumin. In this study, rats were divided into 7 groups: positive control, negative control, rheumatoid arthritis with topical curcumin therapy of 90 mg/kg BW, rheumatoid arthritis with topical curcumin therapy of 110 mg/kg BW, rheumatoid arthritis with topical curcumin therapy of 200 mg/kg BW, rheumatoid arthritis with methotrexate therapy, rheumatoid arthritis with placebo therapy. Results from this experiment indicated that topical curcumin has no significant to the arthritis score, significantly effect to percentase expression of TNF-α (p<0.05) and could decrease synovium hyperplasia based on histophatology examination. It could be concluded that therapy of topical curcumin could decrease the expression of TNF- α and synovium hyperplasia in rheumatoid arthritis rat.

Abstract

Indonesia is known as a country with the highest potential production of tuna, with total production more than six hundred thousand ton per year as value as 6.3 trillion IDR per year.However, Tuna fishery have several challenges, as can be identify by the declining in productivity and an average length fish had been caught, and also tuna fishing groundsaregetting farther. This apparently appears as a result of inaccurate determination of fish stock as the basic management unit of tuna fisheries, especially in yellow fin tuna (YFT). This study aims to define population stocks of YFTin South Java Sea based on genetic information. Samples were taken from three fish landing ports (MuaraBaru, Cilacap and Benoa). Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (RFLP) technique were applied for Cytochrome Oxidase I genes, using restriction enzymes;HaeIII, RsaI, BamHI, XhoI, and AluI. Genetic variation in populations were evaluated with POPGENE32 software. Result indicate that finer scale of stocks present YFT and should bemanaged differently for effective management purpose and to maintain sustainability of this species.

Abstract

This study attempted to evaluate Pb accumulation in the water, sediment and mussels (Hiatula chinensis) from Lekok-Pasuruan. There were four sampling stations representing the study area: (1) urban areas, (2) water flow area from steam power plant (PLTU), (3) waste disposal area of PLTU, (4) fishing port. The average concentration of lead varied between stations in the water (0.279 ppm), sediment (0.423 ppm) and mussels (0.427 ppm). Pearson`s correlation test shows strong relationship (p > 0.05) between Pb in the water, sediment and Hiatula chinensis. Mussels accumulation of lead from the sediment was assessed using bio-concentration factor (BCF) and the result shows Hiatula chinensis is an accumulator of Pb (BCF > 1).
