Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan Fisika Al-Biruni is a medium of communication used by researchers, lecturers, teachers, practitioners, and University student for submitting result of studies and prioritized result of research in the field of theoretical physics, applied physics, and physics learning include: development of instruments of evaluation physics, development of instructional media physics, the development of learning model of physics, and Quasi-Experiment. Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan Fisika Al-Biruni published comprehensive research articles and reviews by leading experts in the field. Selected articles, which has a high scientific achievement, provide important new knowledge, and high benefits to society of physics and physics education. The Journal was first published in 2012 and regularly published twice per year in April and October. Since 2014 this journal began in the online.

Abstract

The use of mobile phones for learning is still becoming a debate in Indonesia. Many schools forbid their students to bring mobile phones to school. This study was aimed to describe the perceptions of physics teachers in Lampung Province regarding the use of mobile phones to study physics. Data was collected from 39 physics teachers from various districts in Lampung Province. The Likert scale with a range of 1 to 5 was used. Descriptive quantitative data analysis was carried out. The results showed that most teachers agree /strongly agree: (1) to utilize mobile phones in learning physics both inside and outside of the classroom, (2) the tendency of students to use mobile phones make the physics learning process efficient. It could strengthen and improve the quality of the learning process. Almost all physics teachers agree /strongly agree with mobile phones usage, because: (1) it could turn the learning process from teacher-centered into student-centered and from content-oriented learning to process-oriented learning, (2) it could improve efficiency and productivity in the learning process. However, they agreed that the use of mobile phones by students could not replace the teacher's role, so physics teachers needed a more sophisticated concept of cellular learning to be implemented

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of inquiry-scaffolding on critical thinking skills and conceptual understanding. The research design used was a mixed-method embedded experimental model. The samples were 64 students. Two-way ANOVA test results for critical thinking skills and conceptual understanding are the same, where the significance value of the learning model = 0.00 (smaller than the alpha value of 0.05). It means that there are differences in critical thinking skills and conceptual understanding of students who learn by inquiry-scaffolding models ( IS) with conventional models. The interaction value between the learning model and the initial ability to critical thinking skills (CTS) is 0.502, while the conceptual understanding is 0.788. It means that there is no interaction between the learning model and the initial ability to CTS, or conceptual understanding. The results of advanced tests with the Tukey test prove that CTS and the conceptual understanding of students with high ability who experience learning with IS are higher than students with high ability in conventional learning. The same thing also applies to students with low initial ability. Thus, it was concluded that the learning model with an inquiry-based scaffolding technique was superior in improving CTS and conceptual understanding, on students with high and low initial abilities. Therefore, this technique can be used in other learning by using different moderator variables

Abstract

This research is a weak experiment research   which aims to describe the profile of students' literacy ability improvement through scientific study. The research design used is  one group pretest-posttest design  with the sample of the study amounted to 32 students of class VII in one of SMP Negeri in North Lampung regency in the academic year 2014/2015 selected by using  purposive sampling technique . The data collection technique was conducted by using science literacy test consisting of 22 items with four choices of answers. The data were analyzed by calculating the normalized average score (N-gain) score data to know the improvement of scientific literacy ability measured by using Microsoft Excel . The data were then analyzed statistically by testing the students' pretest  and  post - test  values   by performing normality test, homogeneity test, and paired sample t-test using  IBM SPSS Statistics 22 program. The average yield of N-gain obtained is 0.46 and is in the category of moderate increase. Hypothesis test result on t test is known significance level of 0,00; smaller than ? = 0.05 (Sign <0.05) which means that Ho is rejected. The results of this test indicate that the ability of science literacy before and after students applied scientific study is not the same, or with other expression can be said that there is a significant difference between the ability of science literacy before and after the application of scientific learning. The results of this study indicate that scientific learning can improve the students' literacy skill profile on competency aspect and knowledge aspect on environmental pollution material.Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian weak experiment yang bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan profil peningkatan kemampuan literasi sains siswa melalui pembelajaran saintifik. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah one group pretest-posttest design dengan sampel penelitian berjumlah 32 orang siswa kelas VII di salah satu SMP Negeri di Kabupaten Lampung Utara pada tahun ajaran 2014/2015 yang dipilih dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan tes literasi sains yang terdiri dari 22 butir soal dengan empat pilihan jawaban. Data dianalisis dengan menghitung data skor rata-rata gain yang dinormalisasi (N-gain) untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan literasi sains yang diukur dengan menggunakan Microsoft Excel. Data hasil penelitian kemudian dianalisis secara statistik dengan melakukan pengujian terhadap nilai pretest dan post-test siswa dengan melakukan uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, dan uji t berpasangan (paired sample t-test) dengan menggunakan program IBM SPSS Statistics 22. Hasil rata-rata N-gain yang diperoleh adalah 0,46 dan berada pada kategori peningkatan sedang. Hasil uji hipotesis pada uji t diketahui taraf signifikansinya sebesar 0,00; lebih kecil dari ? = 0,05 (Sign. < 0,05) yang berarti bahwa Ho ditolak. Hasil uji ini menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan literasi sains siswa sebelum dan sesudah diterapkan pembelajaran saintifik tidak sama, atau dengan ungkapan lain dapat dikatakan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kemampuan literasi sains siswa sebelum dan sesudah diterapkannya pembelajaran saintifik. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran saintifik dapat meningkatkan profil kemampuan literasi sains siswa pada aspek kompetensi dan aspek pengetahuan pada materi pencemaran lingkungan.

Abstract

Distribusi Maxwell-Boltzmann adalah salah satu dari tiga distribusi partikel yang dikenal pada sistem partikel. Distribusi Maxwell-Boltzmann, masih dalam kategori pada sistem partikel klasik, dimana partikel-partikel didalamnya masih dapat terbedakan.Salah satu penerapan distribusi Maxwell-Boltzmann yang ada disekitar kita adalah distribusi partikel pada tabung gas rumahan baik yang 3 kg maupun 12 kg. Dengan  memahami distribusi Maxwell-Boltzmann, kita dapat mengetahui bagaimana kecepatan molekular yang terjadi pada tabung gas.Pada tulisan ini dipaparkan akan dipaparkan aplikasi distribusi Maxwell-Boltmann dalam menentukan kecepatan molekular, visualisasi ruang kecepatan, kecepatan gas dalam tabung gas, dan juga fenomena ledakan tabung gas.

Abstract

This research is the literature studies that provide an introduction to the theory of the formation and early evolution of solar system and planetary systems. Theories that discussed are limit on the theory which has been closed to the truth of observation result. Topics include the structure of solar system, star formation, the structure of evolution and dispersal of protoplanetary disks, planetesimals formation, terrestrial and giant planets formation, the formation of the smaller objects in the solar system and planet migration.Penelitian ini merupakan studi literatur yang membahas tentang masalah pembentukan dan evolusi awal tata surya dan sistem keplanetan dengan memberikan konsep dasar yang ringkas. Teori-teori yang dikaji secara khusus dibatasi pada teori yang telah mendekati kebenaran dari hasil pengamatan. Topik yang dibahas adalah struktur tata surya, pembentukan bintang, struktur evolusi dan pembubaran cakram protoplanet, pembentukan planetesimal, planet terestrial dan planet raksasa, pembentukan benda-benda kecil dalam tata surya dan migrasi planet.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of LKS scientific approach to the study result of students. This study is a research quasy experimentation, the samples in this study were students of class XI SMA PERINTIS 1 Bandar Lampung, the sampling technique using simple rondom sampling, where the class XI.3 is an experimental class and class XI.5 as control class, with style material. The Instruments used for learning outcomes is a description that had previously been tested. Based on the results of research and data management t-test analysis on a significant level = 0.05 obtained t> t table ie 5.45415> 1.68107 means that H0 is accepted. Thus, the learning of physics by using a scientific approach of LKS more influence on physics learning outcomes of learners compared with not using a scientific approach.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pendekatan saintifik berbantukan LKS terhadap hasil belajar  peserta didik. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian quasy eskperimen, sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah peserta didik kelas XI SMA PERINTIS 1 Bandar Lampung, teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan simple rondom sampling, dimana kelas XI.3 merupakan kelas eksperimen dan kelas XI.5 merupakan kelas control, dengan materi gaya. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk hasil belajar adalah uraian yang sebelumnya telah diuji cobakan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan pengelolaan data analisis uji-t pada taraf signifikan= 0,05 diperoleh thitung > ttabel  yaitu 5.45415 > 1.68107  berarti H0 diterima. Dengan demikian, pembelajaran fisika dengan menggunakan pendekatan saintifik  berbantukan LKS lebih berpengaruh terhadap hasil belajar fisika peserta didik dibandingkan dengan yang tidak menggunakan pendekatan saintifik.

Abstract

This research was done on the subsurface structure of Nyelanding village hot spring, Air Gegas district, South Bangka with coordinates 2 44’54.514” South Latitude and 106 16’6.773” East Longitude using the Schlumberger geoelectricity configuration method. Measurements were made on three different tracks. The results of the Schlumberger configuration geoelectricity measurements for the three trajectories indicate the presence of granite rock distribution with resistivity values ranging from 455 – 1046 m.

Abstract

This paper describes the process of designing an LMS-based blended learning for electrodinamics topic and describing its validity. The study implemented research and development model of Gall et al. (2013) which consist of three main stages; preliminary research, product design and product development. Preliminary research was conducted at SMAN 1 Gadingrejo. Blended learning set produced in this study were syllabus, lesson plan, students’ worksheet, handout and online class by LMS Schoology. On the product development process, experts judgement was done to assess validity of the product. The results showed that the blended learning set had validity of 83,7% and 84,8% from two experts. Based on these results, it can be concluded that blended learning set has very good validities as learning set of electrodynamics topic.Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menghasilkan perangkat blended learning berbasis LMS dengan model inkuiri pada materi listrik dinamis, mengetahui validitas produk yang dikembangkan. Penelitian ini mengacu pada prosedur penelitian dan pengembangan dari Gall et al., (2003) yang meliputi studi pendahuluan, perancangan program dan pengembangan program. Pada tahap studi pendahuluan dilakukan di SMA N 1 Gadingrejo. Pada tahap perancangan produk dilakukan pembuatan perangkat blended learning yang meliputi silabus, RPP, LKPD, handout dan kelas online dengan LMS Schoology. Pada tahap pengembangan produk dilakukan dilakukan uji ahli untuk menilai validitas produk. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa validitas produk sebesar 83,7% dan 84,8% dari penilaian dua orang ahli. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini maka disimpulkan bahwa perangkat blended learning memiliki validitas yang sangat baik sebagai perangkat pembelajaran pada materi pokok listrik dinamis.

Abstract

This research was conducted to identify the science process skills of the physics education students of Jambi University in prism refraction practicum after using the basic physics practicum guidebook II. This research is a quantitative descriptive method. The study was conducted with a sample of 91 students. Data collection techniques were carried out using a science process skill observation sheet which was supported by interviews and documentation. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results showed that most students are highly skilled in implementing science process skills-based practicum with the following percentages: observing by 48.35%, classifying by 38.46%, measuring by 39.56%, predicting by 58.64%, compiling data tables by 51.65%, making graph by 58.24%, planning the experiment by 61.54%, and conducting the experiment by 45.05%. The students were also quite skilled in constructing hypotheses and defining variables with the percentage of 57.14% and 39.56%, respectively. The results of the study are expected to be used as a consideration for study programs and other faculties at Jambi University as well as other universities to conduct related studies.

Abstract

Inquiry-discovery learning plays an important role in improving high-order thinking skills (HOTS) and scientific literacy (SL). In this HOTS and SL research, it was designed with Inquiry-discovery based learning. The purpose of this study was to promote Inquiry discovery models in empowering higher-order thinking skills and scientific literacy in physics with different classes. This research used Quasi-Experimental Design research, and Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The research analysis design matrix used two-way ANOVA. The sample was taken from two classes, namely the experimental and control classes of 68 students. The results of the study prove that Inquiry discovery can improve HOTS and SL physics of students. Thus, inquiry-discovery can be recommended to increase student's HOTS and SL physics when compared to conventional classes. The novelty of this study is that inquiry-discovery learning models are more likely to reconstruct students' scientific knowledge of physics on aspects of HOTS and SL with real-world life.
