KARSA (ISSN 2442-3289 and e-ISSN 2442-4285) is a peer-reviewed national journal published by Institut Agama Islam Negeri Madura. It has been nationally accredited (online) since April 26, 2017 by Ministry of Research Technology and Higher Education of Republic Indonesia. It is published twice a year (June and December). It publishes articles of research results, applied theory studies, social and Islamic culture issues. The aim of KARSA is to disseminate cutting-edge research that explores the interrelationship between social studies and (including) culture. The journal is multidisciplinary in scope and seeks to provide a forum for researchers interested in the interaction between social and cultural aspects across several disciplines, including anthropology, sociology, politics, law, linguistic, and environmental studies. The journal publishes quality, original and state-of-the-art articles that may be theoretical or empirical in orientation and that advance our understanding of the intricate relationship between social science and culture.

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools are an alternative educational institution for people in East Java Tapal Kuda areas. Therefore, Islamic boarding schools have a very large contribution in the development of human resources. This  study aims at finding out the potential culture and entrepreneurship and the factors that can affect the unemployed graduates of the Salaf Islamic Boarding School. The qualitative approach method is used to achieve the research objectives. The data were obtained through participant observation and interviews with recording techniques and notes. As supporting data, quantitative data were also explored through questionnaires. The data obtained through interviews were then interpreted qualitatively, while quantitative data were in percentage in the form of tables and the results were then described. This study result found out that entrepreneurial behavior of graduates of the Salaf Islamic Boarding Schools can be categorized as very low. Some factors causing the high-unemployed graduates of Salaf Islamic Boarding Schools are factor of culture focusing only on religious books, factor of student?s very low education, factor of Islamic boarding schools curriculum that is not oriented on entrepreneurship, factor of parents' low education, and factor of parent?s economy. Among these factors, Salaf Islamic Boarding School curriculum factor is the most dominant because of no curriculum that can provide entrepreneurial skills to students (santri). Through changes in entrepreneurial oriented curriculum it is expected to reduce the unemployed graduates of Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

This study discussed the compliance of the coffee farmers particularly in Sumberwringin Bondowoso against the figure Amin Said Husni. The Regent concerns for the fate of the coffee farmers and public welfare in Bondowoso cannot be inseparable from the religious life of the Regent; implementing policies based on the principles of the Islamic religion. This study aimed to answer the question regarding the causes of the emergence of people?s compliance with coffee farmers to switch the Arabica coffee plant according to the instructions given by the Regent. This study applied the habitus concept developed by Pierre Bourdieu and sharpened using the historical method. The studied population was coffee farmers at district of Sumberwringin (Sukorejo, Rejoagung and Sumberwringin village). This study found that the compliance of the coffee farmers could attract people who originally planted Robusta switched to Arabica coffee as their Regent?s instruction. The compliance of coffee farming communities (majority of Madurese) was hierarchical obedience that became a necessity to be actualized in daily praxis as ?normative? binding. The compliance of produce luck to economic conditions as well as improving the welfare of coffee farmers, because the selling price of Arabika is higher than the Robusta coffee.

Abstract

Abstrac Keberadaan jembatan Suramadu, sangat menjanjikan bagi kelangsungan hidup masyarakat Madura untuk kedepannya. Karenanya, industrialisasi dipastikan akan tumbuh berkembang di pulau garam ini. Namun demikian,disisi lain--selain perkembangannya--dampak negatifnya tak dapat dinafikan akan turut mewarnai Madura. Dalam persoalan ini, kondisi Madura yang menunjukkan banyaknya pondok pesantren, terlebih sejauh ini sudah diasosiasikan sebagai masyarakat yang religius agamis (Islam), kondisi yang demikian, sejatinya sangat relevan sebagai modal dasar dalam rangka membentengi nilai-nilai luhur kearifan lokal dari ekses negatif globalisasi dan modernisasi. Sejalan dengan itu, pemerintah daerah hendaknya dapat merekontruksi kebijakan yang pro budaya lokal, dengan cerdas dan kritis dalam menyikapi perkembangan industrialisasi nantinya. Selanjutnya, masih dalam tulisan berikut, akan disuguhkan sejumlah agenda prioritas pemerintah dalam upaya membangun Madura dalam rangka menyongsong datangnya era industrialisasi tersebut. Karena sesungguhnya, hakekat dari pencapaian pembangunan secara menyeluruh di Madura ke depan, adalah untuk menumbuh-kembangkan seluruh potensi yang ada. Abstract

Film memiliki potensi untuk memengaruhi dan membentuk masyarakat berdasarkan muatan pesan dibaliknya. Salah satu film yang cukup fenomenaladalah film Ayat-Ayat Cinta. Film ini sarat dengan pesan-pesan dakwah.Karenanya, kajian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui representasi pesan-pesandakwah secara verbal dan nonverbal dalam film Ayat-Ayat Cinta. Kajian inimenggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan analisissemiotika Roland Barthes untuk mengetahui makna denotatif, maknakonotatif, dan mitos/ideologi yang tersembunyi dalam film tersebut. Teknikpengumpulan data dilakukan dengan studi dokumentasi, studi kepustakaan,dan wawancara mendalam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa film AyatAyatCinta merupakan film yang merepresentasikan pesan-pesan dakwah,baik  pesan verbal maupun pesan nonverbal. Pesan-pesan dakwah verbal adayang bersifat mengajak, seperti anjuran menikah, menjunjung tinggiperempuan, dan berperilaku adil dalam berpoligami, hubungan sesamaMuslim. Ada yang bersifat melarang, seperti dilarang bersentuhan denganyang bukan mahramnya. Demikian juga, pesan-pesan dakwah nonverbal adayang bersifat mengajak, seperti menjaga pandangan untuk menghindari zinamata dan mengerjakan shalat sebagai media komunikasi spiritual, dan adayang bersifat melarang, seperti aurat laki- laki.

Abstract

AbstractIslamic boarding school is the oldest Islamic education institution in Indonesia. from the perspective of politic, the existency of Islamic boarding school has just been admitted by the post-reformation  government. It is declared on the article of  UU No. 20 Tahun 2003 about SISDIKNAS, the establishment of special directorate in Religious Affairs departement, the publishment of  various law products, and mu’âdalah (equality) toward some Islamic boarding schools. Abstract

Abstrak:Artikel ini berusaha mengeksplorasi kedewasaan berbangsa masyarakat Madura melalui kearifan lokalnya dalam perspektif tiga tradisi masyarakat Madura, yaitu tradisi carok, rokat tase’ dan tradisi ritual samman. Hasil kajian dalam artikel ini ditemukan, bahwa ontologi relasi kedewasaan berbangsa masyarakat Madura tertuang dalam tiga prinsip, yaitu prinsip “yang satu dan yang banyak” (struktur individual dan sosial), prinsip “permanensi dan kebaharuan” (jatidiri orang Madura dan makna nasionalisme) serta prinsip “imanensi dan transendensi” (kearifan lokal masyarakat Madura dan makna keindonesiaan). Kearifan lokal masyarakat Madura berupa relasi yang sederajat dan seukuran dalam pola pikir, pola sikap dan pola perilaku yang selaras, serasi dan seimbang antar sesama manusia (tradisi carok), manusia dengan alam-lingkungan (tradisi rokat tase’), dan manusia dengan dunia ghaib (tradisi ritual samman). Kedewasaan berbangsa masyarakat Madura merupakan konseptualisasi dan aktualisasi sintesa stuktur individual dan struktur sosialnya berupa pola pikir, pola sikap dan pola perilaku bangga sebagai ras Madura dan non-arogansi sebagai salah satu ras di Negara Indonesia.Kata kunci:jatidiri, kearifan lokal, nasionalisme-keindonesiaan

Abstract

Abstrak: Artikel ini ingin menguji akar pemberlakuan hukum jinayah (hudud dan kisas) di Aceh pada masa Kerajaan Aceh Darussalam (1496-1903). Terjadi perdebatan, manakah yang diberlakukan di Aceh: syariat Islam (hudud dan kisas) atau hukum adat masyarakat Aceh. Pendapat pertama menyatakan bahwa hukum jinayah pernah diberlakukan pada beberapa masa Sultan Aceh dan pendapat kedua mengatakan bahwa hukum jinayah tidak diberlakukan di Aceh, melain-kan hukum adat yang diberlakukan. Titik singgung pemberlakuan syariat Islam dengan adat di Aceh justru memperlihatkan bahwa pemberlakuan syariat Islam di Aceh tidak murni sesuai dengan ketentuan syariah, melainkan terjadi dinamika sosial, yakni masuknya unsur adat ke dalam pemberlakuan syariah.     Abstract This article tends to examine the basis of  jinayah (crime) law implementation in Aceh during the Aceh Darussalam Kingdom period (1496-1903 AD). QanunJinayah is argued by the Acehness, it goes around that which must be implemented the shari’a, Islamic law (hudûd and qishâsh) or customary law (hukum adat) of Aceh society. First side states that jinayah law had ever been valid during the Sultan of Aceh period of time but the second side argues that it was the customary law that had been implemented. It indicates that in Aceh the enforcement of Islamic law does not genuinely match the shari’a provision, in contrast it has been influenced by customary law factor. In brief, there is a social dynamics in the implementation of shari’a.   Kata Kunci: Syariat Islam, Aceh, adat, hudud,dan kisas

Abstract

Teori relevansi memandang penerjemahan sebagai ekspresi dan rekognisi dari intensi penulis teks sumber. Penelitian ini bermaksud mengungkap aspek relevansi dalam terjemahan Al-Qur’an. Untuk itu dipilih 13 tindak-tutur kinâyah tentang jima’ beserta terjemahannya, yakni terjemahan Depag RI dan terjemahan alternatif. Selanjutnya 30 mahasiswa dimintai tanggapannya tentang aspek relevansi kedua terjemahan tersebut. Hasilnya, terjemahan Depag RI kurang menghadirkan aspek relevansi terhadap maksud tuturan. Halini terjadi, selain karena bahasa Indonesia tidak memiliki konsep kinâyah, juga lantaran penggunaan diksi yang berpotensi menimbulkan ketaksaan. Sementara itu, terjemahan alternatif menggunakan diksi yang jelas dan tedas sehingga tidak memerlukan processing effort yang besar untuk sampai pada maksud tuturan.Copyright (c) 2016 by KARSA. Abstract

Abstrak:Dalam rumah tangga,  perempuan memberikan semua pelayanan untuk suami, anak-anak, dan anggota keluarga lainnya dan di luar rumah tangga, laki-laki mengendalikan dan membatasi peran publik perempuan. Fenomena ini oleh mode produksi patriarkat yang merugikan kaum perempuan. Peran perempuan dibatasi pada tugas-tugas domestik, yaitu sekitar “sumur, dapur dan kasur”. Peran ini dianggap sebagai hal ideal bagi seorang perempuan. Walau masih berakar kuat pada sebagian masyarakat, paradigma ini mulai ditolak seiring dengan gerakan emansipasi wanita. Sebagaimana yang terjadi pada masyarakat Branta Pesisir, keterlibatan istri nelayan mereka dalam wilyah publik sudah mentradisi secara turun tenurun. Tulisan ini mengekplorasi bagaimana mereka menabrak ortodoksi dan menakar realitas dengan meretas budaya produksi patriarkat. Kata kunci: peran, relasi, suami-istri, dan patriarkatAbstract:In the family, a woman contributes her whole potencies to her husband, children, and the other family members, on the other hand, a man takes controll and limits the public role of woman. Sylvia Walby name this phenomena as patriarchal-production mode that disservice the woman. The role of woman has been measured up by domestic jobs, it goes around bathroom, cooking room, and bed room. These roles are considered ideal for woman. This paradigm is deep-rooted in certain community, however, at the present time this has been resisted by woman emansipation movement. This article is based on the study at Baranta Pasisir women and  about to explore the role of fishermen’s wives in public domain. They demonstrate how they hit orthodox beliefs and mete the reality out by taking apart  the patriarchal-cultural products. Key words:dynamics, relation, husband-wife, patriarchat

Abstract

Since the last of 18th century or in the beginning of 19th AD has known intensive interaction between Moslem and the West. In this period, moslems have to face the dilemma, between the wish to revere the Islamic teaching values with the need to follow modern arguments. It causes skripturalis and substansialis thinkings. Through the topic of women leadership, these two thinkings also happen in kiais of pesantren in Sumenep of Madura. Ideologically, both of them are different since their method of meaning to islamic teaching also different. While sosiologically, those are different in thinking the developing social phenomenon. In women leadership, skripturalis kiais keep thinking of forbidding the women of being the leader based on  the Qur`an verse and Hadits. On the contrary, substansialis kiais keep thinking of allowing the women in having the public position based on substantial meaning to the Qur`an (al-Nisâ:34) and Hadits.Copyright (c) 2015 by KARSA.
