Abstract

Dynamics of Pest Population and Main Diseases of Sweet Corn Plants (Zeamays saccharata Sturt) at Wetland with Conventional Cultivation Systemand Their Effect on Yields in Denpasar-Bali. The study was conducted usingsurvey techniques of pests and diseases in paddy fields belonging to farmers in Denpasar-Bali, which consists of three fields. The three areas were Sidakarya, Renon and Kesiman.Plant samples in each land were taken using the sample plot diagonal method, with the areaof diagonal plot in each land was 3 m x 3 m. Plot observations on each of the specified areaof plant samples was done randomly (lottery) as much as 25% of the total number of plantsper-plot, then observation was done for population growth of pests and diseases, temperature,humidity and crop yield. The observations was started from 1week old plants after planting(MST) to 1 week before harvesting, with intervals of 1 week. Recording the population ofpests and diseases from week to week, the temperature condition and humidity in each areaand the condition of the field ( the existing other plants, mulching). Recorded informationabout conventional cultivation systems applied by each farmer were be explored throughinterview techniques. The data were then analyzed using correlation and regression and weredescriptively explained. The results showed that there were four main types of pests (locusts,seed flies, armyworm and caterpillars cob) and three kinds of major diseases (blight, rust anddowny mildew) associated with sweet corn. The results also showed that there was nosignificant between the correlation dynamics of pest population and diseases withtemperature and humidity. As for the commercial harvest, significant effect was shown by thediseases that had an impact on the decrease in yield in quantity especially downy mildew andpest impact on the quality of yields, especially caterpillar cob.

Abstract

The Effect of Potassium Nitrate Concentration in Vermicompost Medium on Nutrients Content and Shoot of Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) The content of nitrogen and potassium in vermicompost generally low, i.e. less than two percent, so that still require the addition of another source to meet crop requirement. Potassium nitrate to form the ions K+ and NO3 6 after disolved in water so as to be readily available to plants. The study aims to determine the effect of the addition of potassium nitrate in the growth medium made from vermicompost to increase growth lettuce plant and know the critical level of concentration or nutrient solution electrical conductivity with the addition of potassium nitrate to the lettuce plant. Research conducted in the form of pot experiment. Experiment using Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications. The treatment consists of 12 levels of concentration or nutrient solution electrical conductivity with the addition of potassium nitrate. The results of experiment indicated that addition of KNO3 highly significant effect on the increasing in fresh and dry weight of shoot per plant. Fresh and dry weight of shoot per plant were significantly increased in a quadratic with increasing concentrations of KNO3. The concentration of KNO3 are optimum for growth of plant shoot weight was at 12.23 g in 100l of water or electrical conductivity equivalent to 2.01 dS.m-1. The concentrations of P and K in plant shoot tissue were significantly increased linearly with the provision of KNO3. The concentration N, Ca, Mg, S, Na, Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn, Al and B in shoot tissue of plants is not affected KNO3.

Abstract

The Use of Landsat 8 Imagery to Estimate Chlorophyl Content and Yield of Rice Plant.Predicting rice yield before harvest time is important to supporting planners and decision makers topredict the amount of rice that should be imported or exported and to enable governments to put inplace strategic contingency plans for the redistribution of food during times of famine. This study usedLandsat 8 that has better both spectral and radiometric resolution compared with the Landsat 7. Theresult of this study shows that using several Landsat 8 band as vegetation index provided better relationshipwith rice chlorophyll compared usind single band. Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI)has the best relationship with the chlorophyll content of rice plant compared with other vegetation indexand single band of Landsat 8 with the R2 of 0.936 . The form of relationship is linear with equation of y= 7.1043x + 0.0661, where y and x are chlorophyll content of rice plant and NDVI, respectively.Rice yield can be estimated in rice age approximatelly of 2 months with the equation of y = 30.495x2 -36.884x + 19.334, where y and x are rice yield in ton/ha and NDVI, respectively. The R² of thisestimation is 0.893 with the standard error of 0.372.

Abstract

Assessment of Micro Nutrient of Soil for Improving Food Production on Paddy Field in The District of Penebel, Tabanan Research of soil micro nutrient was carried out on paddy soil in district Penebel, Tabanan regency, starting July until October 2013, which was conducted by soil survey and laboratory analysis. The experiment consists of several stages such as the formation of the land unit based on the compilation maps of soil type, geology and slope, obtained 11 land units. Each unit taken some samples depending on the area, location and slope, so have got 50 soil samples. Soil samples were taken at a depth of 0-20 cm. Further, the content of micro nutrients Zn, Cu, Fe, Mn analyzed with EDTA extraction at Soil laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Udayana University. In addition it also analyzed of the soil macro nutrients content: total-N, available- P, available-K, C- organic matter, soil pH and salinity. Soil analysis showed that the micro nutrient content of Fe ranged from 59.672 to 66.382 ppm (classified as moderate), Mn ranged from 11.960 to 33.786 ppm (relatively low), Cu ranged from 5.426 to 23.204 ppm (very low to low), and Zn ranged from 1.818 to 9.058 ppm (very low to moderate). The paddy soil in the district Penebel, containing moderate of micronutrients Fe content and Mn contain relatively low; Cu content are very low to low; and Zn content are mostly very low to low. While the content of macro nutrient elements such as N and P are low to moderate, but the content of K is very high. C-organic content classified as moderate to high, and soil acidity is slightly acid soil. The limiting factors of rice production were Zn, Cu and Mn. Fertilization of micro nutrients needs to increase rice production in the district Penebel. To obtain suitable micro-nutrient fertilizer dosage to increase rice yield in district Penebel, it is needs to be done research of micro nutrients testing especially Zn, Cu, and Mn.

Abstract

Applicationof N, P, and K Fertilizer Based on Site-Specific Nutrient Management for An increase of Productivity of Soybean. Soybean productivity in Indonesia is still low, it is about 1.25 t ha-1.This is due to the same dose of fertilizer in all location.In this case, fertilization is on the recommendation i.e. 25-75 kg urea ha-1 + 50-100 kg SP-36 ha-1 + 50-100 kg KCl ha-1 for soybean in all locations.Though each location farmland have different levels of soil fertility. Soybean commodities can compete with other plants when minimum productivity of 2.18 t ha-1 of dry beans, it is able to provide a higher profit than corn. To that end, soybean fertilizer recommended by site-specific nutrient management (SSNM) by using the method of paddy soil test device, and dry soil test device that can determine soil nutrient classes to categories of low, medium and high.N fertilizer on soil classes, including low, medium, and high dose respectively at 174, 152, and 117 kg urea ha-1. For P fertilizer application on soil nutrient classes, including low, medium, and high doserespectively at 104,80, and 40 kg ha-1 SP-36. Likewise K fertilizer application on soil nutrient classes, including low, medium, and high each at doses of 210, 190, and 150 kg ha-1 KCl. In addition, supported by the use of new varieties of soybean large seed that high productivity and achieve the results expected in all locations soybean.Then the government provides support for input subsidies in the form of primary production facilities such as seed, fertilizer, and pesticides that farmers are interested in returning to planting soybeans and soybean prices ensure incentives for farmers. Things like this will spur farmers to increase productivity so that soybean self-sufficiency is achieved. In the end domestic soybean demand can be met so that the government no longer to import soybeans.

Abstract

Evaluation of Land Suitability for Development of Cajuput Tree at Area of ProductionForest in West Bali, District of Grokgak, Buleleng Regency, Bali. The objective of theresearch was to investigate and to map the land suitable level with limiting factor, also to givedirection or recomendation on kajuputi development in research area. The research used landevaluation survey method. Sample taking cunducted by stratified purposive sampling withland unit stratum. Land quality that observed include temprature/average temprature yearly,water availability, rooting media, nutrient retention, nutrien availability, salinity,terrain/mechanitation potential, and erosion danger level. Land suitable classificationconducted by matching between land quality with crop requirement of kajuputi (map inatachment). The result showed that actual as well as potential land suitable and kajuputidevelopment range from moderate suitable (S2), marginal suitable (S3), and not suitable (N)with limiting factor: duration of drymonth, pH, efective soil depth, slope, and erosion dangerlevel, stoniners and rockoutcrop. The effort that could be sugested for land management wereimproving organic matter to decrease high pH and aplication of terasering to spriest erotion.
