Abstract

The teaching of basic movements in badminton are now rather directed to the way of walk orfootwork. This research is aiming to learn about the influence of “footwork” training to theimprovement of leg muscles and agility. This experimental research is designed to use therandomized pretest posttest control group design. The research is based on 42 malebadminton students bimpres of the university “UNDIKSHA”, split into 2 groups. Bothgroups were given different training methods, exercising 3 times a week for 6 weeks altogether. Group 1 was given the “footwork” exercise 10 repetitions 2 sets and group twowas given the “footwork” exercise 5 repetitions 4 sets. The leg muscle strength was measuredwith a leg dynamometer and the agility with the zigzag run test. The result of the intergroupt-paired test before and after the training shows group 1 and group 2 (p<0.05). For group 1,the leg muscle strength (kg) and agility (second) was in the average 114.19±33.13 &7.78±0.34 and after the training 183.19±33.56 & 7.28±0.28 with a difference of 69 & 0.50and with an increase 60% and 7%. On the other hand, for group 2 the leg muscle strengthand agility before the training was in the average 113.05±31.30 & 7.74±0.38 and after thetraining 141.10±34.91 & 7.59±0.31 with a difference 28.05 & 0.15 and with an increase of25% and 2%. The increase of the leg muscle strength and agility between both the groupsbefore and after the training was tested with the t-independent test with a significant score of? =0.05. The average leg muscle strength and agility for both the groups before the trainingwas p = 0.90 & 0.78 (p>0.05) and after the training p = 0.00 & 0.00 (p<0.05). The conclusionis training badminton footwork 10 repetition 2 sets better than 5 repetition 4 sets for theimprovement of leg muscle strength and agility.

Abstract

Endurance cardiorespiratory is an ability of someone to exercises longer without anyfatigue. Endurance cardiorespiratory was influenced by the heart endurance, muscleendurance and respiratory function. In the elderly due to an oxidative stress, the conditionwhere free radicals is much more than anti oxidant in our body. It will produce oxidative damage of cell/tissue leads to aging and death.Thepurpose of the study is to determinedifferences in the increased in VO2 max, decreased heart rate and increased maximalinspiration between the moderate intesity walking and moderate intensity stationerybicycle.This study is clinical experimental studyusing methods pre test and post test groupdesign. Sixteen subjects of elderly people devided in to two groups. The first group of 8subjects gived the moderate intesity walking for 30 minutes exercise, 3 times a week. Thesecond group of 8 subjects givedthe moderate intesity stationery bicycle for 30 minutesexercise, 3 times a week. total peroid of exercise was 8 weeks. VO2 max measure a using the6 walking minute test, resting heart rate test using a stopwatch and maximal inspiration usingincentive spirometry manual. Results of this study: the mean value Vo2 max afterintervention ofgroup I was 20.82 ml/kg/min and group II was 20.62 ml/kg/minthe differentmean between two groups was 0.2 ml / kg / min and showed no significant difference (p =0.43). The mean value resting heart rate after intervetion of group I was 66 beats/min andgroup II was 66.62 beats/min the different between the two groups was 0.62 beats / minuteand showed no significant difference (p = 0.702), The mean value maximum inspiration afterintervention of group I was 1937.5 ml and group II was 1912,5 ml the different meanbetween two groups was25 ml and showed no significant difference (p = 0.480). It wasconcluded thatthere were nodifferences between moderate intesity walking and moderateintensity stationery bicycle on the increase VO2 max, decrease heart rate, and increasemaximum inspiration in the elderly.

Abstract

Activities sat and looked in a long time tend to occur spasms in the neck muscles, causingpain in the neck and head, known as tension headaches. To reduce the pain of tension headacheswith the intervention of a combination of ultrasound and ischemic compression technique and acombination of ultrasound and intervention contract relax stretching. The purpose of this studyprove that the intervention ultrasound and contract relax stretching is more effective thanintervention ultrasound and ischemic compression technique in reducing the painful tensionheadaches. This research method is the true experimental with pre and posttest control groupdesign. This research was conducted for two months and the place of research in hospitalsBuleleng. Samples are patients who seek treatment in medical rehabilitation installations inhospitals Buleleng aged 35-45 years with the number of 32 samples are divided into two groups,in which the treatment group I (n = 16) and treatment group II (n = 16). Using measurementinstruments Neck Pain Disability Index (NPDI). The results of this study showed a meantreatment group I before treatment 91,56 and standards (SB) 8,91, average 35,25 after treatmentand SB 15,96 with p = 0.00 (p <0.05). This means intervention ultrasound and ischemiccompression technique effectively lowers tension headache pain. The results mean treatmentgroup II before treatment 91,12 and SB 6,95, and after treatment 13,62 the average SB 10,78 withp = 0.00 (p < 0.05). This means intervention ultrasound and contract relax stretching effectivelyreduce the pain of tension headaches. Test after intervention difference between treatment groupsI and II after intervention treatment groups using Mann withney U-Test p = 0:01 (p <0.05). It isproved that a decrease in pain tension headaches in both treatment groups there were significantdifferences. It is concluded that ultrasound and contract relax stretching is more effective thanultrasound and ischemic compression technique in reducing tension headache pain.

Abstract

Physical exercise leads to an increase on the pulse rate. This increase was due to increased needfor blood that transports O2 to the tissues of the body active, transporting waste material such asCO2 and other metabolic byproducts. Increasing the intensity of exercise, the exercise pulse rateincreases, on the contrary decreased intensity of exercise, the pulse rate decreases. These changesare regulated by the nervous system and the hormonal system. This is the acute effects ofexercise. If the physical exercise done regularly and continuously in the long term, there will bea decrease in the resting pulse rate. It is a chronic effect of exercise. This article aims to describethe effects of physical exercise on the pulse rate.

Abstract

Children in 7-8 years, the kinesthetic intelligence was more necessary incognitive development phase. Its indicated by the activities of chuildren’s motion suchas coordination between eye and hand. Gymnastics is a serial of simple physical activitywhich helps to optimize the brain function, one of them is coordination. This study wasconducted to determine how much improvement the addition of brain gym at SKJ 2008program to increase the coordination between eye and hand of children in age 7-8 years old. This study used an experimental method. It used the control group by using a studydesign two group pre and posttest control group design. This study was conducted at SDNegeri 3 Sumberjo Central Lampung, the training sessions were given 3 times during 6weeks. The number of samples was 36 children were divided into two groups. Thecontrol group was SKJ 2008 program however in the treatment group was given theaddition of brain gym in SKJ 2008 program. The tool used the wall toss test to measurethe eye and hand coordination which was conducted pre-intervention and postintervention.The results of test used independent t-test to determine eye and handcoordination. From the test was obtained the result that the increasing of eye and handcoordination in the mean post-intervention of group treatment was 7,06 ± 1,63 whichwas compared with control group was 4,44 ± 1,15 with p value = 0,000 (p <0,05). Theaddition of brain gym on SKJ 2008 program was more increasing the coordinationbetween eye and hand of children in age 7-8 years old in sd negeri 3 sumberjo at centrallampung.

Abstract

Biomotor components of strength and speed are the base of the components ofexplosive power of muscles, especially motion tools in the upper body. The combination oftrainings that can be used to increase muscle strength and speed are cable machinewoodchopper and a medicine ball full twist training and push up knee and sit up training. Thecurrent study used an experimental design with a sample of 36 people which is taken usingproportional random sampling from the population which met the inclusion and exclusioncriteria and dividen into two groups. Each group consist of 18 people. The combinationtraining between cable machine woodchopper and medicine ball full twist was used by theGroup I, while the combination between training push up knee and sit up was used by theGroup II. The study was conducted three times a week for 6 weeks. Data were collected fromthe result of the discs throw before and after the study. The collected data were statisticallyanalyzed. From the analysis, it was obtained that the variant of data was homogeny and thedistribution was normal. Therefore, the analysis continued with the paired t-test and independent t-test. The paired t-test result showed that there is a increase number of results indiscus throw on both of the experiment groups (p <0.05). While the independent t-testsshowed that before the training in the group I and group II found was not significantlydifferent (p> 0.05), but after the training between group I and group II are equally increasedtheir results in discus throw (p <0.05). From the results, it can be inferred that thecombination between cable machine woodchopper and medicine ball full twist training inGroup I increased higher than the combination between push up knee and sit up training inGroup II on the outcome of discus throwing.

Abstract

Elderly people, a population group whose age is more than 60 years or older is a group ofpeople who potentially suffered by metabolic disorders due to changes in body fat percentageand the degeneration process. Elderly gymnastics showed theoretically significantly lowered thepercentage of body fat that result in a decrease in waist circumference, increasing the capacityof the memory function, and mental efficiency. This study was a pre-experimental study, carriedout in the Jegu Tabanan Village in February 2014 to September 2015 with a sample of 63 elderly.An abnormal waist circumference (central obesity) defined of > 90 cm in men and > 80 cm inwomen. The data were measured before and after the intervention (elderly gymnastic training)for the six months (once a week, in the morning, at the village hall (Balai Banjar) of JeguTabanan Village, and was guided by an elderly gymnastic instructor. Study result: the studyconsisted of 63 subjects which was 35 (55.6%) men and 28 (45.4%) women with the mean of age was 65 ± 0.5 years old and the mean of BMI was 22.5 ± 3.02 (kg / m2). The results of thebivariate statistical analysis by paired t-test showed a significant difference between waistcircumference before and after giving elderly gymnastics for six months with the value of p =0.023 (CI: 0.449; 5.773). Also we found reduction in waist circumference of 3 cm (3.6%).
