Humanism as a paradigm is often declared as an alternative approach to education. This paradigm is, in fact, an approach developed in the field of literature and education. The objective of this study is to determine the values underlie the epistemology of the humanistic education theory. Epistemology is the elements that are abstract or implicit. To recognize the epistemology of humanism education theory, this study examines the elements of basic assumptions, values and models of the theory. The results show that the assumptions promoting the theory have similarities with the basic assumptions of the phenomenological epistemology. It sees humans as creatures with consciousness and knowledge for what he did. Thus, every humanâs behavior or action is conducted in purpose. In humanistic education theory, meaningfulness and usefulness of the learning process are determined by the learner, not the educator. For that reason, learning design and methods should be developed by the participants based on the needs of the learners. Therefore, the theory does not provide a model for an individual learning process. Thus, it can be concluded that the theory of humanism education rooted from phenomenology epistemology.

This article aims at describing women existence as reflected on Bride Song poem written by Christina Rossseti. Rossettiâs view on womenâs lives was inspired much by her awareness toward the their conditions in Victorianâs era. In the meantime, women were shaped to be an individuals who fulfill the ideal standard as preferred by men. By Bride Song, Rosetti tried to break patriarchal domination toward women. She wanted to turn back the existence equivalence between men and women based on human rights. She also attemped to open the worldâs perspective to accept womenâs existence as important as menâs and not just a binary opposition of it. Womenâs existence in Bride Song is not only a struggle against menâs domination in Victorian era, but it also has relevance with contemporary issues on womenâs struggle to show their existence in this modern era.

Adaptation, as one form of response to literary texts, is a matter that has been much discussed in the world of literature or the world of art in general. An interesting case of adaptation is the adaptation of al-Fil al-Azraqs novel to a film showing the effort of an adapter to preserve the novel story as well as transforming it into a new work with a variety of creativity in it. This study aims to reveal the individuality, effects, and meaning of the text contained in the novel al-Fīl al-Azraq as the background text and the film al-Fīl al-Azraq as a foreground work as well as the media changes occurring in the adaptation work . To see this process of adaptation, the theory of aesthetic response from Wolfgeng Iser. The results of this study indicate that the adapters do dialectic with the source text and then display it in their adaptation work through changes in the text in the form of allusions, negations, and blank filling. These changes also affect the individuality, effects, and meaning of the adaptation work to the point of shifting from the source text. This shows that the work of adaptation is a new work that has its own individuality and creativity, a work of repetition without replication.
