Abstract

Thalassia hemprichii is one of the seagrass as favorite food of two protected herbivores such as Green Turtle and Dugong. The existence of Thalassia hemprichii and knowing the growth rate becomes very important for sustainability of two herbivores. The study was conducted in Tanjung Benoa waters that covering three parts of the coast such as Samuh, Conrad and Tanjung beach in February until March 2017. Thalassia hemprichii leaves growth is observed consist of long and heavy growth (dry weight) and measured leaf age that has been observed such as young, half old and old leaves. The method that used to measure the growth of Thalassia hemprichii is pruning method and determination the research location using purposive sampling method. The aim of this research is explained the growth rate, biomass, and productivity of young leaves, old leaves of Thalassia hemprichii in Tanjung Benoa Bali. Measurement results of Thalassia hemprichii growth between age group of leaves has different young leaves faster growth if compared with the half old leaves and old leaves with average growth is 3.41mm/day indicates that the efficiency of this seagrass growth will decrease as the leaves age. The highest biomass values ??were found in older leaves if compared with young leaves and half-old leaves with average 0.205 gbk/m2 expected because the thick and wide leaf size will produced larger leaf biomass. The highest productivity value is found in oldest leaves in each station with average 0.028 gbk/m2/day expected morphology and different nutrient content in each leaf tissue.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui kualitas perairan, konsentrasi dan sebaran Hg di permukaan perairan Muara Sungai Banyuasin. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada Juni 2016 dengan 26 stasiun pengambilan sampel. Pengukuran kualitas perairan dilakukan secara insitu menggunakan Conductivity Temperature Depth (CTD) multiparameter profiler sedangkan logam Hg diukur menggunakan Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS). Data yang didapat diinterpolasi dengan metode Inverse Distance Weighted (IDW) dan kemudian dipetakan secara spasial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara umum kualitas perairan di Muara Sungai Banyuasin masih memenuhi baku mutu air laut untuk biota laut berdasarkan KepMenLH no 51 Tahun 2004. konsentrasi logam Hg di perairan Muara Sungai Banyuasin berkisar antara 0.001-0.032 mg/L dengan pola distribusi yang secara umum semakin meningkat kearah lautan. Konsentrasi Hg di Muara Sungai Banyuasin rata-rata berada pada batas maksimal dan melampaui baku mutu untuk biota laut.

Abstract

This study objectives were to investigate the track of shark trade from Bali Province, the exports volume of shark trade during 2015-2016, the length of sharks; species exported in the ETP category; and the effectiveness of shark trade license by BPSPL Denpasar based on EAFM analysis. This study used exploration method with questionnaires, interviews and secondary data from BPSPL Denpasar. The results showed that the track of shark trade started from when the shark is caught by the fishermen which purchased by exporter companies, then they had to get shipment recommendation letter from BPSPL Denpasar and fish health certificate from BKIPM Class I Denpasar, then sharks was brought to I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport for final check and ready to be exported to the destination country. During 2015-2016 there were 559 sharks from the species of Carcharhinus melanopterus, Triaenodon obesus, Orectolobus maculatus, Atelomycterus marmoratus, Chiloscyllium plagiosum and Halaelurus maculosus that have been exported to the 12 destination countries. The EAFM analysis of lengths indicated that the shark's size was at a very young until adult age. Meanwhile, the EAFM analysis of ETP species shows there were 4 shark types of Near Threatened, 1 type of Least Concern status and 1 type of Not Evaluated. Finally the result of EAFM analysis on the effectiveness of shark trade license by BPSPL Denpasar showed that the decision was well executed and run effectively, and so far the shark fishery management at Bali Province is applied successfully.

Abstract

Lemuru fish is one of fishery commodity that has high economical value and one of fish that most catched by fisherman in Bali Strait. Lemuru fish had been caught in Bali Strait was fluctuating every month and every years. This condition was related with food source of Lemuru fish such as phytoplankton and zooplankton. So this research was conducted to explained the relationship phytoplankton and zooplankton abundance with Lemuru fish catched  in Bali strait. This study focus in Bali strait during March until May 2017. Determination of sampling point used area sampling method while water sampling occured in surface water with pouring method. Total of phytoplankton and zooplankton abundance in Bali strait in March until May had formed the sinusoidal model with their abundance ranged 301 ind/L ? 604 ind/L and 7 ind/L ? 12 ind/L. Plankton abundance in Bali strait in March until May (transisonal season 1) was categorized low abundance if compared with plankton abundance in another season. The low value of phytoplankton abundance caused by non upwelling phenomenon and grazing process and the low abundance of zooplankton caused by low rate of zooplankton and predation by Lemuru fish. Phytoplankton and zooplankton abundance had  strong relationship with Lemuru fish catched with correlation coefficient value 0.76 and 0.69. This condition caused by phytoplankton and zooplankton are source of Lemuru fish food.

Abstract

Penginderaan jauh adalah salah satu teknologi yang mampu menyajikan informasi tangkapan gelombang elektromagnetik tentang permukaan dan atmosfer Bumi. Pada studi-studi yang terkait dengan ekologi, pengaplikasian indeks-indeks vegetasi yang diperoleh dari data penginderaan jauh terus mengalami peningkatan, terutama terkait dengan kemampuannya menangkap dan memonitor sifat-sifat tutupan vegetasi serta perubahan lingkungan. Studi ini mencoba mereview secara singkat berbagai pemanfaatan indeks-indeks vegetasi, khususnya indeks vegetasi yang berbasis atau menggunakan panjang panjang gelombang red-edge terkait dengan kemampuannya mengevaluasi lanskap pantai dan studi konservasi lainnya. Karakteristik pantulan spektral vegetasi ditinjau secara mendalam untuk mengetahui kemampuannya dalam memberikan informasi sifat-sifat vegetasi, serta kemungkinan peran dari indeks-indeks vegetasi tersebut untuk penelitian-penelitian selanjutnya, khusus terkait dengan vegetasi pantai serta indikator ketahanan lanskap yang selalu berubah.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine shoreline change along the coast of Ladong, Mesjid Raya subdistrict, Aceh Besar district, Aceh province in the 5 years period started from the year 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. Ground check was implemented in August 2016. This study utilized Geographic Information System technology (GIS), remote sensing and by utilizing Google Earth to capture aerial photo. The result from this research showed that each year the shoreline changes, either it was abrasion or accretion. In 2011-2012 the value of abrasion reached 1.1 ha and the value of accretion reached 0.5 ha. In 2012-2013 the value of abrasion reached 0.3 ha and the value of accretion reached 0.8 ha. In 2013-2014 the value of abrasion reached 1.2 ha and the value of accretion reached 0.2 ha. In 2014-2015 the value of abrasion reached 0.2 ha and the value of accretion reached 1.5 ha. The value of the annual abrasion average reached 0.56 ha and the value of the accretion was 0.58 ha. The largest abrasion happened in 2013-2014 which reached 1.2 ha. The total value of 5 year abrasion was 2.8 ha and the total value of accretion was recorded 2.9 ha. The process of abrasion and accretion also caused a change of the length of Ladong?s coastline every year, and the river estuary was one of the reasons that caused abrasion or accretion

Abstract

Teluk Benoa adalah salah satu kawasan ekosistem yang unik di Pulau Bali karena merupakan kawasan estuari dangkal dan memiliki ekosistem yang penting bagi perairan yaitu ekosistem mangrove dan padang lamun. Beberapa tahun belakangan ini, Teluk Benoa dilaporkan telah mengalami pendangkalan akibat sedimentasi. Namun demikian masih belum banyak ditemukan kajian secara ilmiah terhadap laju sedimentasi yang terjadi di Teluk Benoa. Studi mengenai sedimentasi akan memberikan Gambaran terkait dengan laju sedimetasi pada daerah penelitian.  Pemodelan numerik adalah salah satu metode yang sering digunakan untuk mengGambarkan proses hidrodinamika di perairan yang merupakan penggerak utama dari proses pergerakan polutan di perairan seperti limbah, sedimen, dan lainnya. Dengan demikian studi terhadap laju sedimentasi, baik secara spasial maupun temporal perlu dilakukan di perairan Teluk Benoa menggunakan pemodelan numerik. Hasil studi ini menunjukkan bahwa laju sedimentasi di Teluk Benoa memiliki nilai minimum 1.08x10-6 dan maksimum 24.88 kg/m2/hari dengan rata-rata 0.57 kg/m2/hari. Dimana laju sedimentasi yang tinggi terjadi di bagian barat teluk pada jalur sungai dan di bagian utara teluk, di antara Pulau Serangan dan pantai Mertasari. Daerah yang berpotensi mengalami pendangkalan di Teluk Benoa meliputi daerah Selatan Pelabuhan Benoa yang mencapai 0.23 m/tahun, perairan di Utara Pulau Serangan yang mencapai 0.008 m/tahun, dan daerah yang dekat dengan muara sungai yang mencapai 0.35 m/tahun.

Abstract

The coral reef damage in Probolinggo region was expected to be caused by several factors. The first one comes from its society that exploits fishery by using cyanide toxin and bomb. The second one goes to the extraction of coral reef, which is used as decoration or construction materials. The other factor is likely caused by the existence of large industry on the seashore, such as Electric Steam Power Plant (PLTU) Paiton and others alike. Related to the development of coral reef ecosystem, availability of an accurate data is crucially needed to support the manner of future policy, so the research of coral reef coverage percentage needs to be conducted continuously. The aim of this research is to collect biological data of coral reef and to identify coral reef coverage percentage in the effort of constructing coral reef condition basic data on Binor, Paiton, and Probolinggo regency seashore. The method used in this research is Line Intercept Transect (LIT) method. LIT method is a method that used to decide benthic community on coral reef based on percentage growth, and to take note of benthic quantity along transect line. Percentage of living coral coverage in 3 meters depth on this Binor Paiton seashore that may be categorized in a good condition is 57,65%. While the rest are dead coral that is only 1,45%, other life form in 23,2%, and non-life form in 17,7%. A good condition of coral reef is caused by coral reef transplantation on the seashore, so this coral reef is dominated by Acropora Branching. On the other hand, Mortality Index (IM) of coral reef resulted in 24,5%. The result from observation and calculation of coral reef is dominated by Hard Coral in Acropora Branching (ACB) with coral reef coverage percentage of 39%, Coral Massive (CM) with coral reef coverage percentage of 2,85%, Coral Foliose (CF) with coral reef coverage percentage of 1,6%, and Coral Mushroom (CRM) with coral reef coverage percentage of 8,5%. Observation in 10 meters depth resulted in coral reef coverage percentage of 63,33%. 75% of living coral found on this 10 meters depth are dominated by Acropora branching coral, while the rest 25,21% are filled by Acropora tabulate coral and non-Acropora coral in the life form of branching, massive, sub-massive, foliose, and mushroom, where coral Mortality Index (IM) reached 28,5%. The high number of coral reef coverage percentage on Paiton is caused by successful coral transplantation and low activity of society in this location. The domination of large size Acropora branching coral were estimated comes from a few types, showing that coral resulted from transplantation has grown large and form a complex 3 dimension structure that is suitable for the life form of fish and living benthic.

Abstract

Water quality monitoring is one of important activity, especially in coastal water, which susceptive with pollution. Water area of Serangan Island is a tidal flat area, influenced by fresh water and sea water inputs. The existence activities, such as cage aquaculture and tourism, and input from river, are threatened to decrease the water quality in north of Serangan water. This research was conducted to the condition of water quality based on water quality standard for aquatic organisms and its spatial distribution. The parameters measured were temperature, salinity, pH, DO, turbidity, and BOD5, in 8 sample points. Some parameters measured directly on water surface (temperature, salinity, pH and DO) and the others were analyzed in laboratory (turbidity, and BOD5). BOD5 was analyzed by standard method of Delzer & McKenzie. Based on research, the result of temperature values ranged from 28,9°C-30,5°C; salinity 29,6 ppt-32,7 ppt; pH 7,7-7,9; DO 3 mg/L-4,4 mg/L; turbidity 1,9 ntu-7,6 ntu; and BOD5 2,8 mg/L-5,4 mg/L. The water quality in Serangan had a different spatial distribution in each parameters. Overall, based on research result, the water quality condition in the body water of Serangan island was good and suitable to support aquatic organisms living.
