Abstract

Practice of turning is done in a standing posture. During the process of turning benches are not provided for sitting. In turning Practice sometimes also requires bending forward working posture to look more carefully or repair existing equipment. Besides, the lack of site lighting on the lathe machine can reduce accuracy level of students in reading measurement scale. This leads to disorder on musculoskeletal system and eye strain; therefore it is necessary to apply ergonomics in terms of improvement in working posture and the addition of site lighting.The research was carried out experimentally using treatment by subject design; the study sample included 15 people. Subjects obtained the two treatments, period I the turning used the old way. Period II used a new way of ergonomic interventions in the form of improvement in working posture and the addition of site lighting.The analysis showed that there was significant difference (p <0.05) on the musculoskeletal disorder, the period I with a mean score of 81.41 +1.80 and atperiod II with a mean score of 65.74 +3.08 or decreased by 19.3 %. There was significant difference in eye strain period I with a score of 31.41 +1.78 and period II with a score of 16.89 +2.32 or decreased by 46.2% and there was significant difference in the accuracy of the work, period I with a bias score of 1.29 +0.45 cm and period II with a bias score of 0.56 +0.15 cm or increased accuracy of 56.9%.It is concluded that (a) the improvement of working posture and addition of site lighting in turning process can reduce musculoskeletal disorder of students in mechanical workshop of Bali State Polytechnics, (b) the improvement of working posture and addition of site lighting turning process can reduce eye strain of students in mechanical workshop of Bali State Polytechnic, (c) the improvement of working posture and addition of site lighting in turning process can improve the accuracy of the work of students in Bali State Polytechnic mechanical workshop.

Abstract

Less ergonomic computer working condition may cause a variety of complaints among computer operators. The complaint arises due to inappropriate of work load and capacity. Less ergonomic working conditions increase muscle tension of several muscles based on surface electromyography, work load, and subjective complaints based on musculoskeletal complaints, fatigue, and eyestrain. The objective of this study was to analyze improvement of the working conditions based on total ergonomic reduce the electrical activity of muscles, work load, musculoskeletal complaints, fatigue, and eyestrain. The true experimental study has been conducted with treatment by subject design among design workers of CV. Massa Denpasar with a total 15 subjects. Some data including muscle tension, work load, musculoskeletal complaints, and fatigue were measured when working in conventional working conditions (first Period) and when working with treated working conditions based on total ergonomic (second Period). Data were analyzed by paired samples t test and Wilcoxon signed ranks test. This study revealed that a decreased of work load was 4,89%, musculoskeletal complaints were 15,45%, fatigue was 33,53%, and eyestrain was 14,32% and productivity was 44,07% (p<0.05). The results showed that the improvement of computer working conditions based on total ergonomic decreased muscle tension, work load, musculoskeletal complaints, fatigue, and eyestrain. Concluded that the improvement of working conditions based computer ergonomics can reduce the total workload is seen from the decrease in pulse work, as well as lowing the musculoskeletal complaints and fatigue are seen from the increase in productivity, suggested that improvements in working conditions is used as a model computer in designing computer working conditions for the achievement of healthy working conditions, safe, convenient, effective, efficient, and productive with the hope that achieved the highest welfare

Abstract

American-style service (American Service) priority to speed and accuracy amongwaitress while did the ministry. Therefore a waitress required to be able to carry a maximum of four plates at a time when doing service. The application of inappropriate tableware may associate with musculoskeletal complaints and fatigue, and affect the service performance in the restaurant. It is necessary for the application of ergonomic aspect especially appropriate equipment.This research was using an experimental study with the pre and post test control group design. This study involved fourth semester students, Restaurant Management Third Diploma of Nusa Dua Bali Tourism Institute as a subject as many as 36 people. The result showed significantly difference between control and treatment groups. In the treatment group  had  decreased  subjective  complaints  that include  musculoskeletal disorders about 38.7 % and general fatigue about 42.9 %. The length of presentation time decline 36.86%, while the quality of the presentation increased 65.01%. The decrease insubjective complaints occurred because the application of anthropometric dinner plate thatlighter 410 grams and has a shorter diameter 4.2 cm than previous plate. It is more convenient to carry even four at the time when presents to the guests. This is also showed an increase inservice performance. It can be concluded that the ergonomics  application  of using  appropriate anthropometric equipment in the American Service can improve the service performance among practice students in restaurant.

Abstract

Industri adonan (luluh) sate di Desa Kaba-kaba merupakan industri skala kecil dalam bentuk industri rumah tangga di pedesaan. Saat ini kinerja para pembuat luluh sate relatif masih rendah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menurunkan beban fisiologis dilihat dari beban kerja, keluhan muskuloskeletal, kelelahan dan meningkatkan produktivitas kerja pada pekerja industri adonan (luluh) sate di Desa Kaba-kaba Kediri Tabanan.   Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian eksperimental dengan rancangan randomized pre and post test control group design dan melibatkan 24 sampel penelitian yang dipilih secara acak sederhana. Sampel dibagi menjadi 2 kelompok yaitu kelopok kontrol adalah menggunakan alat pemarut kelapa lama dan kelompok perlakuan adalah redesain alat pemarut kelapa. Beban kerja ditentukan berdasarkan peningkatan denyut nadi kerja dihitung secara palpasi dengan metode sepuluh denyut, kelelahan didata dengan kuesioner 30 item of rating scale, keluhan muskuloskeletal didata dengan kuesioner Nordic body map, dan produktivitas didata dari jumlah parutan kelapa persatuan waktu. Analisis data menggunakan uji statistik t-independent test dengan taraf signifikansi 5%.   Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya perbedaan bermakna (p<0,05) pengurangan beban fisiologis dan peningkatan produktivitas kerja pembuat adonan (luluh) sate. Redesain alat pemarut kelapa ternyata menurunkan beban kerja sebesar 18,14%, keluhan muskuloskeletal sebesar 28,07%, kelelahan sebesar 25,98%, dan meningkatkan produktivitas kerja sebesar 62,39%.   Disimpulkan bahwa penerapan ergonomi berupa redesain alat pemarut kelapa menurunkan beban fisiologis dan meningkatkan produktivitas kerja pada pekerja industri adonan (luluh) sate di Desa Kaba-kaba Kediri Tabanan.

Abstract

Problems ergonomics in industrial screen printing traditional fabrics such as work attitude unnatural causing musculoskeletal disorders in workers printing. To overcome these problems, especially for fabric printing activity done by redesigning Rakel research and giving active stretching. The purpose of this study was to know the effects of the using redesigning Rakel and active stretching for the fabric screen printing workers to decrease the workload, musculoskeletal disorders and increased work productivity. The study design is the design of the same subject, involving 12 workers printing male, 20-45 years old, between 1-5 years of work experience. Research into two phases. The first phase (I) subjects treated with Rakel without redesigning work and without giving active stretching. The second phase (II) subjects treated with redesigning work Rakel and giving active stretching. Among the two phases of the study, given a wash out period for 2 days and adaptation redesigning Rakel for 4 days, to eliminate carry-over effects. The workload is measured by the method of pulse 10 beats, musculoskeletal complaints measured by a questionnaire Nordic Body Map at 4 Likert scale and work productivity based on the ratio between output and input. Data were analyzed with the Shapiro-Wilk test to determine the normality of the data, paired t-test to test the significance difference variable workload and productivity of work at the significance level ? = 0.05 and Wilcoxon test for variables musculoskeletal complaints. The results showed that redesigning Rakel and provision of active stretching can reduce the workload of 30,3% (p<0.05) and lower musculoskeletal complaints by 16,9% (p<0.05) as well as increasing work productivity by 45,5% (p <0.05). It concluded that the redesign Rakel and provision of active stretching can reduce the workload and musculoskeletal disorders and increase productivity for workers printing. Suggested to the owner of a similar business industry to make good working conditions referring to ergonomic principles, so as to create safer working conditions, comfortable, healthy and productive workers.

Abstract

The activity of traditional dodol stirrer workers is done with standing position. The stirring process is done monotonically and over a long period of 5 hours. This study aims to show that workplace stretching exercise administration and modification of working conditions may decrease musculoskeletal and fatigue complaintas in traditional dodol stirrer workers. The stirring tool (siut) used by the worker does not correspond to anthropomethry, causing a work with a bent position. This study was an experimental study, with the same subject design. Period I subjects were treated with conventional working condition. Period II subjects were treated with workplace stretching exercise administration and improved working conditions in the form of re-design the stirring tool(siut) of the dodol stirrer and active rest. Musculoskeletal complaints were measured by Nordic body map questionnaires on a 4 likert scale, working fatigue using 30 item rating scales. Analysis of the collected data is started with the descriptive analysis and the normality data tested using Shapiro-Wilk. Further, the data that has normal distribution are analyzed using t-paired and the data that has not a normal distribution are analyzed using Wilcoxon test. This study indicated that the administration of workplace stretching exercise and modification of working conditions can decreasing musculoskeletal decline of 18.3 % from the mean 12.67±0.50 to 5.59±0.52 and fatigue decreased by 18.5% from the mean 12.42±1.45 to 5.34±0.66 It can be concluded that the provision of workplace stretching exercise and modification of working condition can decrease musculoskeletal complaintas and fatigue of dodol stirrer workers. So it is advisable for the dodol making industry to applied this technique of exercise to minimize complaints due to the working process of stirring dodol.

Abstract

Tourism has become one of the engines of socio-economic progress for many countries. The number of  users  star hotel facilities  makes  the hotel more  extra  employees  in negotiating the arrangement of the hotel especially the housekeeping employees who workwith emphasis on physical strength as the center of activities that affect the fatigue and employability.  This study analyzed  the correlation between  fatigue  and work ability. Research  conducted  observational  (non-experimental) with a  cross-sectional  analytic 59approach. The number of respondents consisted of 31 respondents consisting of employees of the housekeeping three stars hotel in Denpasar, to fill in the questionnaire Work AbilityIndex and the 30 item questionnaire rating scale of the Japan Association of IndustrialHealth and Industrial Fatigue Research Committee of Japan. From the research, there is40.81 ± 9.35 mean of fatigue. While, the average of work ability is 41.25 ± 4.15. There is asignificant relationship between the fatigue and the work ability with the value of (p =0.011) and values of (r = -0,450). The p-value indicates there is a significant relationshipbetween fatigue and work ability, the value of r indicates the direction opposite relationshipbetween fatigue and work ability. It can be concluded that there is a relationship betweenfatigue with the work ability of employees at the hotel housekeeping. For the hotel need to know the fatigue scores of each individual to improve the employees work especially those working in the field of physical and mental.

Abstract

Currently, the department of medical recording of Sanglah hospital have utilizedcomputerization system. So must of the medical the record of patiens was organized by the devices. Some of physical complaint always felt by operator computer, especially on their neck, shoulder, arm, wrist, hand and eyes that could be annoyed the quality and productivity of the employees. The stretching training and active rest should be done to the employees of the department of medical recording of Sanglah hospital decreasing all of the complaints and could be increasing their the work concentration. Has the studies to the sample subjek an employees BMR, sampel were 20 people  give treatmentinmy form training stretching and active rest. Variabel measure is complait musculoskeletalm eye fatique and concentration work. Resul treatmen betwen before working and after work for the Periodic I and Periodic II compared and analyzed statistically.In PI, the average score of musculoskeletal disorder is 77.36, eye fatigue is 67.90, and the work concentration which cover : speed 26.03, accuracy 18.01, and constancy 7,22. Mean while, in PII the average of score musculoskeletal disorder is 45.56, eye fatigue is 52.25, and the work concentration which cover : speed 15.00, accuracy 13.50, and constancy 6.23. According to that score could be knowing that the stretching training and active rest was decrease musculoskeletal disorder about 71.98%, eye fatigue 46.73% and the work concentration which cover : speed 80.06%, accurancy 61.89%, and constancy 40.08%. Which is in statistic this study was significantly p<0,05Therefore, could be concluded that stretching training and active rest decreasing musculoskeletal disorder and eye fatigue, and increasing the work concentration of BRM employees of Sanglah hospital. By doing so, that stretching training and active rest advisably to starts to be implemented in order to all of work activities of BMR employees of the hospital because the evident could be able to decrease musculoskeletal disorder, eye fatigue, and in order to increase employees? the work concentration

Abstract

This study aims to approve that the reschedule of housekeeping work shifts based on ergonomics may decrease musculoskeletal disorders, decrease fatigue level, and  increase work speed. The reschedule of Housekeeping work shifts conducted by adding more housekeeping workers when cleaning the rooms. The housekeeping formerly was cleaned each room by himself and now scheduled to work by two people, so the task may be shared both. The hotel didn't needed to add new housekeeping workers, just need to reschedule the existing housekeeping, so that the hotel does not need to incur additional costs to conduct work shift with this ergonomic approach.               The research model is design experimental treatment by subject design. The data of musculoskeletal disorders and fatigue level was collected by using a questionaire. The data of work speed was collected by using direct observation to 10 housekeeping workers in Natya Hotel - Bali, as a sample that randomly selected. The tests were conducted using normality test and significancy test with SPSS for Windows 16th version.                 The results showed that the mean of musculoskeletal disorders in the first period was 57.6 ± 2.59 become 27.1 ± 2.47 in the second period (p < 0.05) or decrease by 36.31%. The mean of fatigue level in the first period was 60.5 ± 2.55 become 27.7 ± 3.23 in the second period (p < 0.05) or decrease by 36.44%. The work speed average in the first period was 21.12 ± 0.06 minutes, while the second period was 13.08 ± 0.03 minutes (p < 0,05) or increase by 23.52%.

Abstract

Occupational diseases arise due to inbalance between task and ability. This condition cause unsave work position such as static and repetitive positions continuously. It can result in occupational diseases and affect to decrease of work productivity. Among the body that is vulnerable to irritate or get injured is neck the most mobile region and need ergonomic intervention. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of work posture education, electrotherapy modality and exercise therapy in reducing neck pain and increasing the range of motion in mechanical neck pain. This study was a pre-experimental research using one-group pre-test and post-test design. The results showed that the application of work posture education, electrotherapy and exercise therapy can reduce neck pain (p<0,05) and increase the range of motion (p<0,05). It can be concluded that the application of work posture education, electrotherapy and exercise therapy can reduce neck pain and increase the range of motion in mechanical neck pain.
