Abstract

Objectives: This study aimed to compare the serum levels of soluble Endoglin (s-Eng) between early onset preeclampsia, late onset preeclampsia and normal pregnant women.Materials and Methods: This was an analytic observational study (Cross-Sectional) performed on 39 pregnant women with early-onset preeclampsia (EO-PE), late-onset preeclampsia (LO-PE), and normal pregnancy. The patients were consecutively chosen in Dr. Soetomo Hospital, Airlangga University Hospital and Dr. M. Soewandhi Hospital Surabaya in May-July 2016. The serum concentration of soluble Endoglin were collected by venous puncture taken from maternal circulation and measured by ELISA.Results: From this study, serum concentrations of soluble Endoglin was higher significantly on the early onset  preeclampsia compared with late onset preeclampsia and normal pregnancy (47,65 ± 40,17 vs 13,46 ± 9,48 vs 6,11 ± 1,45 ng/mL; p=0.000). Conclusion: This study shows angiogenic imbalance was more prominent compared in early-onset than late-onset preeclampsia. This may be because the placental dysfunction, placental ischemia, which produce excessive anti angiogenic factors, whic later causing endothelial dysfunction was more related to early onset preeclampsia.

Abstract

Objectives: to determine the relationship between depression and quality of life in ovarian cancer patients who are undergoing chemotherapy in RSUDZA Banda Aceh.Materials and Methods: This study was an analytical observa-tional study with cross-sectional design approach. The samples were taken by using accidental sampling with total of respondents are 30 patients. Depression level was assessed by using the BDI-II questionnaire  and quality of life was assessed by using the EORTC QLQ-C30 questionnaire.  Then, data were analyzed by using Spearman’s Correlation test. Results: The most of the cases were no depression (53,3%), and good quality of life (56,7%). The lowest cases were patients with severe depression (6,7%), and poor quality of life (16,7%). The results of data analysis obtained p value=0.000 (p≤0,05). Conclusion: there is a significant relationship between depression and quality of life in ovarian cancer patients who are undergoing chemotherapy in RSUDZA Banda Aceh.

Abstract

Objectives: to analyze the expression of PGE2 and COX-2 in various histological grade of endometrial endometrioid carcinoma.Materials and Methods: Analytical observational study was performed on parafin block archives of endometrial endometrioid carcinoma with histological grade 1,2 and 3 in Anatomic Pathology laboratory Dr. Soetomo hospital. PGE2 and COX-2 expression were examined by immunohistochemical staining using PGE2 and COX-2 antibodies. The results were analyzed statistically. Results: There were increase of PGE2 expressions of in endometrioid carcinoma grade 2 compare to  grade 1 and grade 3 compare to grade 2. The COX-2 expression was increase in histologic grade 3 compare to grade 1.Conclusion: The expression of PGE2 and COX-2 in endometrial endometrioid carcinoma were increased in higher histologic grade compare to lower histologic grade.

Abstract

Objectives: This study aims to demonstrate the effect of L-Arginine on pulmonary edema on mice preeclampsia model.Materials and Methods: This experimental analytic study was conducted on 30 pregnant mice divided into 3 groups, namely 10 normal pregnant mice (K1), 10 pregnant mice preeclampsia model (K2), and 10 pregnant mice pre-eclampsia model who received L-Arginine (K3) therapy. All subjects examined the thickness of the alveoli capillary wall in their pulmo using the Immunohisto-chemical method. The results were analyzed using Kruskal Wallis and Mann Whiteney tests. Results:  Average alveoli capillary wall thickness (K1) 5.01±1.76/µm, (K2) 11.57±7.11/µm, with p value=0.00. Average alveoli capillary wall thickness (K3) 7.90±4.10/µm with p value=0.01.Conclusion: L-arginine affects to improve pulmonary edema in preeclampsia by reducing alveoli capillary wall thickness of the pulmonary in mice model.
