Abstract

Smoking is one of the problems in society today that difficult to resolve. There are 6 million deaths each year are caused by smoking. The number of smokers in Indonesia continues to grow, which is dominated by the age of 15 years and above. To overcome these problems the government issued a policy  banning  smoking in the learning process. Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) was one of the places that already have implemented smoke-free campus since 2011, but until now there is smoke in campus. This study was to determine the factors that affect the implementation Kawasan Bersih Bebas Asap Rokok (KBBR) in UMY.This study was a qualitative research with phenomenological approach. The data were taken using the method discussion focus groups, depth interviews and observation. Participants in this study were determined by purposive sampling counted 20 participants consisting of students and campus employees in UMY. The validity of the data in this study was done by using triangulation, triangulation methods and peer debriefing. Data analysis was performed with the help of software open code version 4.2. These results indicate that the factors that affect the implementation KBBR in UMY was knowledge of KBBR, attitudes toward KBBR, lack of socialization and prohibition signs of KBBR, the absence of strict sanctions against violators KBBR and environmental influences. This shows that UMY needs to improve socialization and give strict punishment for violation of KBBR.Keywords: Factors, KBBR, UMY

Abstract

Background: Self-actualization is psychology needs to grow, develop, and use the skills and also manage oneself so that can be independent neither internal nor external pressure. According to Maslow, less than 1% people can reach of self-actualization. The reached of self-actualization by individual not released without the social supports from individual closest persons, like peer social support.Objective: The purpose of this research was to know the relationship between peer social support with self-actualization college students School of Nursing Faculty of Medicine Diponegoro University. Methods: The type of this research was non-experimental quantitative with descriptive correlation. The samples of this research amount 153 that taken by Proportionate Stratifi ed Random Sampling technique. Result: The result of statistical test with Spearman Rank was ρ value = 0.015 (ρ < 0.05). It means that there was a relationship between peer social support with self-actualization in college students School of Nursing Faculty of Medicine Diponegoro University.Conclusion: College students should be more active in lectures activities, both academic and non academic to increase their self-actualization.Keywords: self-actualization, peer social support, college student

Abstract

Objective: To present a review of the identified literature related to smoking cessation interventions for adolescents and to summarise the findings and research gaps in this field.Methods: A standard literature search was performed using four  electronic databases (MEDLINE,  CINAHL, PsycINFO, and the COCHRANE LIBRARY) for identification of peer-reviewed articles. Search terms used included “smok* OR tobacco OR cigarette*” AND ”quit* OR cessation OR treatment” AND “adolescen* OR teen* OR young people OR youth OR student*”. The internet and organisational databases were also used to find other types of documents (eg, books and reports). The reference lists of identified relevant documents were reviewed to find additional sources.Results: There are a total of nine studies met the inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria included in this study. In exploring studies related to smoking cessation intervention in this review, researchers divided the studies into two approaches based on the types of intervention; these are psychosocial intervention and pharmacotherapy.Conclusions: This literature review demonstrated that smoking cessation interventions using psychosocial interventions have been promising. From several studies, it can be seen that smoking cessation using this approach has indicated positive results.Keywords: smoking cessation, adolescent, tobacco

Abstract

One of factors that determine student success in learning is the selection of appropriate learning method. Learning methods that are not boring for the students is one learning method that can improve student learning motivation that ultimately might improve student achievement. Cooperative learning is one of the methods that can be applied. The division of a group of shared characteristics of students are the hallmark of this learning method. This study aimed to do a review article to know the eff ectiveness of learning cooperative learning to enhance student motivation to expect any impact rising encountered during the learning process of cooperative learning. A search the article in Proques on articles related to cooperative learning on student motivation by keyword «eff ects of cooperative learning on student motivation and achievment» found 3079 articles selected then the 2010- 2015 with the same keywords «eff ects of cooperative learning on student motivation and achievment «is found 543 then we select the article to 15 articles. Cooprerative learning is one method that can be applied in the learning nursing process. An increase in student motivation in learning have a positive impact on the achievement of the mahasiswats. Obstacles are often encountered any member of the group who did not participate in the task. Abstract

Background: The development organization is an essential part of the education system in universities. Human Resources lecturer capabilities as one indicator of the quality of the education agency that fi t the criteria of the Directorate General of Higher Education. Lecturers must be professional in the line of duty Tri Dharma College (Directorate General of Higher Education, 2010).Objective: To describe the career development, motivation, and performance STIKES Karya Husada Lecturer in Kediri.Methods: Posivistik qualitative research, action research, sampling techniques: purposive sampling on informants who know most about work STIKES Husada Kediri, then searching for information on informants to be valid and complete.Data collection: observation, interviews and documentation, the data were analyzed: domain analysis.Results: Results of the study: 1) Development of career planing: further studies lecturer, fi ling functional position Lecturer, training manners and Applied Approach, Career Management of: mapping of further studies lecturer, fi ling functional, training implementation manners and Applied Approaach, 2) Motivation Internal: Changing image principal tasks and functions Lecturer, work motivation is external: change the payroll system, 3) Performance Lecturer: Competence Pedagogic: understanding the character of lecturers and training implementation Competency Based Curriculum (CBC), Professional Competence: Adjustment of the activities of Tri Dharma College, Competence Personality: training personality. build teamwork in outbound activities, Social Competence: Open yourself to accept criticism and suggestions, improve internal relations and ektern institution.Conclussion: Conclusions and suggestions: 1) Development of a career, should be followed up with a follow-up, always motivate lecturers to continue on to graduate in order to improve career Lecturer. 2) Work Motivation Lecturer: internal work motivation maintained Lecturer to support external motivation to work, so that the Foundation was pleased to see his teachers eager to work with the standard equation payroll system based on Civil Servants (PNS). 3) Performance Lecturer in the application of pedagogical competence, professional competence, social competence and personal competence should be maintained.Keywords: Development, Career, Work Motivation, Performance Lecturer

Abstract

Hypertension is an increasing of blood pressure that does not cause symptoms for many years until there is asigniicant organ damage and the cause of the increasing of morbidity and mortality in Indonesia. The combination of music therapy and slow deep breathing help controlling blood pressure gradually. This condition will maintain the patient to not experience complications. The purpose of this research is to determine the efects of music therapy combined with slow deep breathing to decrease blood pressure in patients with hypertension. This research is quasy-experiment with pretest- posttest control group design. Samples in this study are 56 respondents who are the patients with primary hypertension in Alak Public Health Centerwhich are divided into 28 people for treatment group and 28 people for control group by simple random sampling. The irst stage iscarrying out the measurements of blood pressure and giving intervention in the treatment group for 20 minutes, then measuring blood pressure. Meanwhile, the blood pressureof control group is measured. The second stage is 4 times monitoring visits in the group treated for 2 weeks and the post data in the control group at the end of the second week. The dataof average changes in per-post are analyzed using the Wilcoxon test and comparison of two groups using the Mann-Whitney test. The result shows the average change in blood pressure treatment group is higher than the control group. The statistic analysis of p value of systolic and diastolic blood pressure is<0.05. There is a decrease in changes in systolic and diastolic blood pressure (p value = 0.000) of treatment group and the control group. It can be concluded that the combination of music therapy with slow deep breathing is efective in lowering the blood pressure of patients with primary hypertension and there is a change in blood pressure of treatment group and control group.Key words: Blood Pressure, Combination of music therapy and slow deep breathing, Hypertension

Abstract

Lecturer has a big role in learning accomplishment of nursing students. The duty of nursing lecturers in the learning are required to have several competencies such as ability of knowledge mastery, ability of skills mastery and ability in the terms of attitude. Those three competencies must be possessed by lecturers in order to make students accomplish competencies in the form of competency of knowledge mastery, competency of skills mastery and competency of attitude. This article aims to describe the nursing lecturers’ roles in relation with learning process. This explanation hopefully can enhance lecturer’s knowledge in improving quality of learning which affects the accomplishment of nursing students as well. The accomplishment of nursing students’ competency can’t be separated from lecturers role in learning process, both in academic field and practical field (clinic). Those roles are as an educator, a guide, a leader, a communicator, a role model, an assessor, a counselor, a problem solver, an expertise, a facilitator, a motivator and an inspirator. Twelve roles of nursing lecturers in learning process are the elaboration of lecturers’ main role based on the role of nurse in nursing namely assessor, planner, implementer, and evaluators.Key words : lecturers’ role, nursing education

Abstract

Background: Indonesia is one of the world’s biggest contributor to leprosy. A long and convoluted chain of transmission is complicating factor in the leprosy control program. Physical disabilities as an impact of leprosy causes excessive fear in the community. Negative stigma and leprophobia resulted in lepers often being subjected to discrimination. The low level of public knowledge about leprosy lead to negative attitude of society is thought to be a discrimination trigger.Objective: The study aimed to identify the level of public knowledge about leprosy, public attitudes to leprosy patients, and to analyze the relationship between knowledge and attitudes towards discrimination. Methods: This is a case study conducted in the Tarakan city utilising cross sectional design. A sample size of 227 respondents aged from 18-60 years were taken by purposive sampling technique. The research instrument in the form of a structured questionnaire with a Cronbach’s Alpha of 0.81. Analysis of the relationship between knowledge and attitudes towards discriminated on leprosy patients were tested using the Mann-Whitney.Results: this study identifi ed the level of public knowledge about leprosy is still low; negative attitudes; and the tendency of discrimination in patients with leprosy. Analysis of the relationship between variables which produces a signifi cance level of p = 0.000.Conclussion: there is a signifi cant correlation between public knowledge about leprocy and public attitudes to leprosy patients against discrimination in patients with leprosy.Keywords: Knowledge, Attitude, Leprosy, Discrimination.
