Abstract

Abstract Farmers’ Motivation in Horticultural Farming in Candikuning Tourism Village, Baturiti Subdistrict, Tabanan Regency Horticultural farming in tourism destination is supposedly influenced by motivation who are able to encourage themselves who are not included in farmer community to carry out holticultural farming activities in the Candikuning Tourism Village. The purpose of this study is to determine the level of farmers’ motivation who are not included in farmer community in terms of intrinsic and extrinsic aspect in Horticultural Farming in Candikuning Tourism Village. The results show that the level of farmers’ motivation falls into high category with an average score of 3.67 (73.44%) of the total maximum score. This is supported by the intrinsic motivation included in the high category with an average score of 3.91 (78.34%) of the total maximum score and extrinsic motivation included in the high category with an average score of 3.42 (68.53%) of the total maximum score. So that the level of farmers’ motivation in horticultural farming is high. The agricultural extension workers that assist the farming activity in Candikuning Village should counsel the farmers actively. The farmers should form a farmer’s forum in order to facilitate them to gain information about their farming activity. Abstract

The Marketing Mix of Salted Peanut of Cendrawasih Brandat UD. Monang Denpasar-BaliUD. Monang is an agro-industrial busines engaged in the production of snack ofpeanuts. Seeing the interest of consumers who tend to consume more salted peanutsthan any other peanuts, this study aimed to determine the marketing mix conductedby UD. Monang on cendrawasih salted peanuts in term of the concept of product,price, place/distribution and promotion and to identify the constraints faced by UD.Monang in marketing salted peanuts produck with brand of cendrawasih. Based onthe research result of cendrawasih salted peanuts produck are processed from rawmaterials of the best peanuts. The marketing mix carried out by UD. Monang on itsproduck was to provide three packaging in the form of plastic to make it look moreappealing to consumers. Pricing implemented by UD. Monang is the cost pluspricing method which set the price based on the cost added by the percentage of thecost. For small-sized plastic packaging containing 125 gram was for Rp 3.900, 225gram for Rp 8.400 and 350 gram for Rp 11.400. the company uses retailer as anintermediary in the distribution of products to the end consumers. Promotionalactivities used by the company was to use personal selling. Internal contrains facedwas the company’s performance in terms of the promotion was less effective.External constraints were that their competitors of similar products resulted in thecompany having to compete fairly tight.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The Influencing Factors of Land-use Change: Case Study of Subak Daksina, Tibubeneng Village, North Kuta District, Badung Regency A land-use change of agricultural land into non-farm is increasing every year along with increase in population and development in tourism sector. Accordingly, continuing conversion of agricultural land may lead to food security problem in the future. Determination of factors in affecting agricultural land use shifting was carried out in this study using survey method to farmers. In addition, in-depth interview and observation were used in data collection. Explanatory factor analysis was used to achieve the aims of the study. Results of this study reveals that there were four factors affecting land use shifting, covering land condition, eviction (associated with the human population conditions), land use (for own interests), and the land ineffectiveness. Among 16 variables included in the model, only two variables, i.e. post harvet risk and land tax. Key words: land use, eviction, land ineffectiveness.

Abstract

Subak Sembung Development Strategy As A Tourist Attraction In The Urban Area Tourism development in Bali is culture-based tourism. One of them is Subak SembungEcotourism which is located in Peguyangan Village, North Denpasar District, DenpasarMuniciplity. Its strategic location in the city center makes Subak Sembung facechallenges in land conversion. Development efforts needed to make Subak Sembung atourist attraction as well as a traditional organization in agriculture. The purpose of thisstudy was to identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of SubakSembung, formulate alternative strategies, and determine priority strategies to developSubak Sembung as a tourist attraction in urban areas. The results of the SWOT matrixproduced several alternative strategies, namely market expansion, collaboration withgovernment and external entrepreneurs, developing agricultural-based touristattractions, holding promotions, arousing agricultural activities and religious rituals,development efforts that were in accordance with the awig-awig of subak, formingmanagement bodies of ecotourism, and selective in developing tourism facilities. Thepriority strategy based on QSPM analysis was to establish an ecotourism managementbody so that Subak Sembung could be developed with better facilities. Subak membertogether with the government and other stakeholders must take advantage of theopportunities and strengths they have in order to minimize the weaknesses and threatsfaced by Subak Sembung. Based on the results of the study, the suggestion that can bemade is to form a more creative ecotourism management body so that the appreciationand activities of the community can be developed for the sustainability of Ecotourism inSubak Sembung.

Abstract

The Behavior of Farmers toward Animal Feed Processing Technology of Rice Straw Fermentation (A Case at Simantri 222 of Farmers’ Group of Sriasih in Pohsanten Village, SubDistrict of Mendoyo, Regency of Jembrana.)By the development of the agricultural sector in the Province of Bali, the Bali Provincial Government has implemented an integrated agriculture system, better known as Simantri whose aim is to support the development of farming in an integrated manner to the local potentials by increasing incomes as one of the supporting government programs to reduce poverty, integrating farming crops and cattle, and initiating the development of integrated sustainable agriculture in order to increase revenue. The purpose of the study was to determine the level of farmers’ behavior in Simantri 222 towards the development of fermented animal feed processing technology. The scope of this research was the study of the behavior (knowledge, attitudes, skills) of farmers toward the fermented feed processing technologies implemented by the members of Simantri 222 of farmers’ group of Sriasih of Pohsanten Village, Mendoyo Sub-District of Jembrana Regency. This study used qualitative descriptive analysis. The results showed that the behavior of members of Simantri on the fermented animal feed processing technologies found at Simantri 222 was classified as good category, with the score of knowledge of 3.93, while the score of attitude of 3.97 and the score of application of 4.16. Of the three components of behaviors (knowledge, attitude, and skills), it can be concluded that the behavior of farmers was classified as good category, by score of 4.02. For improving the behavior of members Simantri 222 of fermented animal feed processing, to be very well expected that extension can provide re-training in order for members to better understand the technology Simantri given.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The Study on Implementation of Agro Commodities Auction Market in The Industry and Trade Service of The Province of Bali In the marketing of agricultural products, the most common problem was the gap of unfair of price that accepted by producer farmers by prices paid by the final consumer. Various reasons that lead to margin of trading system, that are weak bargaining position of farmers, farmers tend subject to the buyer rule, the cost of transport from production centers to the end of consumer market. Work program in the Industry and Trade service of the Province of Bali was conduct activity of agro commodities auction market, which is one of medium to aid to facilitate the meeting of buyers and sellers directly. The aim of this study was to find out the implementation of agro commodities auction market conducted by the Industry and Trade service as well as the constraints in conduct activity of the agro commodity auction market. Locations of study were selected by purposive sampling. Data collected by the method of observation, in-depth interviews and documentary study. Data have been analyzed descriptively. The results of study showed that the performance of auction market not yet to show maximum results. Levels of productivity were very high fluctuation for each implementation.  Problems of fail to deliver and fail to pay occur estimated very low integrity and credible participants, the constraints in the implementation of agro commodity auction market was weak underwriting system, uncertain membership, the formulation of quality standards, as well as the types of commodities that enter the auction market. Implication of important policy will be done by formulate quality standards, priorities of traded commodity, and maximize the role of private sector. Socio-Economic Impact Partnership KUD Tani Makmur with PT. NestleIndonesia (Case Study in Kandang Tepus Village, Senduro Sub-District, Lumajang Regency)One form of relationship between subsystems in the agribusiness system is the relationship between dairy farmers, dairy cow cooperatives, and the Milk ProcessingIndustry (IPS). One of the dairy cow milk cooperatives in partnership with IPS is theKUD Tani Makmur in Kandang Tepus Village, Senduro District, Lumajang Regency.KUD Tani Makmur in running his dairy cow business in partnership with PT. NestleIndonesia.The partnership between KUD Tani Makmur and Nestle is contractual, inwhich this partnership impacts socially and economically for cooperatives. The purposeof this study was to determine the social and economic impacts of KUD Tani Makmurbecause they partnered with Nestle.The research method used for social impact isqualitative. Whereas for economic impacts quantitative analysis and trend analysis areused. The results of the analysis show that there is a change in knowledge, attitudes, andactions of cooperative employees and members. This change is positive. In addition,there are changes in positive social values and norms and institutions. The economicimpact obtained is also positive, the cooperative has increased income, the number of members of the cooperative, the development of physical cooperatives. The SHUobtained by cooperatives in the 2013-2016 period fluctuated, which in 2015 experienceda decline. This extension is due to the lack of proper implementation of cooperativestrategies in dealing with competitors. The positive impact of social and economicneeds to be maintained, while to overcome competitors need to know the weaknessesand strengths of competitors so as not to implement a strategy that is inappropriate.

Abstract

Abstract The Role of Individual Characteristic Factor and Organization Factor Toward The Performance of Agricultural Office Province Bali The Agricultural Office Province Bali is one of government’s institution that organize the management duty of agricultural program and the other duties relate to the agriculture field in serving the needs of farmer’s input usage for increasing the agricultural production which is done. This research is aimed to confirm and know the role of respondent characteristic factor and organization factor toward the officers’s performance of Agricultural Office Province Bali. The kinds of data used were quantitative and qualitative. The methods of data analysis used were confirmatory factor analysis and qualitative descriptive. The result gotten from this research is the individual characteristic factor and organization factor have the same role or balance toward the officer’s performance of Agricultural Office Province Bali about 50%. Education degree sub-factor has the biggest role toward individual characteristic factor and the lowest role towards individual characteristic factor is gender sub-factor. Compensation sub-factor has the biggest role and discipline sub-factor has the lowest towards organization factor. Sub-factor which has the biggest role towards the officer’s performance factor of Agricultural Office Province Bali is compensation sub-factor. Sub-factors that have the second and third biggest roles are education degree sub-factor and age sub-factor. Sub-factor that has the lowest role towards the officers performance factor is sub-factor discipline. Abstract

The Comparison of Shallot Farming Income by Using and without Pheromone Technology (Case Study at the Association of Asta Mandiri Farmer Groups,Songan B Village, Kintamani District, Bangli Regency)The main problem faced by farmers in shallot cultivation is the pest attack fromworms. Farmers mostly control the pest by using high doses of chemical insecticidespraying. Pheromone technology is a breakthrough technology that can be used tocontrol worm pest in shallot farming, heading to less use of insecticides. Thisresearch took place at the Association of Asta Mandiri Farmer Groups, Songan BVillage, Kintamani District, Bangli Regency which was conducted from April toMay 2016. The purpose of this study was to compare the shallot farming incomeusing pheromone technology and without pheromone technology and the obstaclesfaced by farmers in applying the technology. Data were analyzed using analysis offarm income, the R/C ratio, and t-test. The results showed that the income of shallotfarming with pheromone technology was at Rp 97,597,413.38 per hectare per season,whereas without pheromone technology at Rp 78,605,563.89 per hectare perseason.The R/C ratio of shallot farming by using pheromones technology was 2,39,whereas without the pheromone technology was 2,06. Based on t-test analysis, thereis significantly difference in income at 95% level of confidence. Obstacles faced byfarmers in applying pheromone technology, namely difficulties to obtain thepheromones in the market. It is expected that the government will provide thepheromones massively, so that farmers are able to apply the technology sustainably.
