Abstract

This study aims to describe the Lampung handicraft "tapis and siger" into learning mathematics at Elementary School level. The data obtained in the form of qualitative data while the source obtained from observations, documentation and informants associated with Lampung handicraft the "tapis and siger". The instrument in this study is the researcher itself. The tools used are interview guides, documentation guides, and observation guidelines. Data validity technique by data triangulation through data source checking, analizing descriptive qualitative. The results showed that the motif of woven cloth fabric Sanggar Rahayu consists of geometric motifs, humans, animals, and motifs of plants, while Siger Lampung has a mathematical element in which the triangle. Cultural-based math learning is needed in schools especially in elementary school, because not only to understand the concept of mathematics but learners are also introduced and love culture early on.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to investigate the effect of Learning model of STAD geogebra viewed from learning style. This research used the quasi experimental research method with the factorial design of 2 × 3. The population was entirely the students 4thof Mathematics Education Program Ma’arif Institute of Metro Lampung in Academic Year 2015/2016. The samples of the research were taken by using the cluster random sampling technique. The size of the sample was 50 students consisted of 26 students in the first experimental class and 24 students in the control class. The instruments to gather the data of the research were test of learning achievement in mathematics and student learning styles questionnaire. The data was analyzed by using the two-way analysis of variance with unbalanced cells. The conclusionsof thisresearchwere as follows. (1) The cooperative learning model of STAD Geogebra type resulted in a better learning achievement in mathematics than the Powerpoint-assisted direct learning model. (2) Students with visual learning style have the same achievement with students with auditory learning styles. Students with auditory learning style have the same achievement with students with kinesthetic learning styles. Students with visual learning styles have a better academic achievement than students with kinesthetic learning styles. (3) Difference in achievement of each learning method was not consistent with their respective learning styles and differences between individual learning style also was not consistent in each learning method Keywords: geogebra, power point, Student Team Achievment Devisions (STAD)

Abstract

The objective of this research was to investigate the effect of analytical on learning achievement viewed from IQ. This research used the causal comparative research with the factorial design of 3 x 3. Its population was all of the students of mathematics education in Islamic Institute Of Ma’arif NU Metro Lampung. The samples of the research were taken by using the random sampling. The instruments used to gather the data of the research were test of learning achievement in Mathematics, test of analytical individu and test of IQ of the students. Prior to their use, both the test were tried out. Their contents were validated by the related experts. The reliability of the instruments was tested by using the Cronbach Alpha formula. The discrimination power of the test and the internal consistency of the questionnaire used Karl Pearson’s product moment correlation formula. The pre-requisite tests of the research included the normality test by using Lilliefors test and homogeneity test by using Bartlett test. The proposed hypotheses of the research were tested by using the two-way analysis of variance with unbalanced cells. The results of the research are as follows. 1) The students with high IQ have a better learning achievement in Mathematics than students with moderate IQ. 2) The students with the high analytical individu have a better learning achievement in Mathematics than those with the moderate and low analytical individu, and the students with the moderate analytical individu have a better learning achievement in Mathematics than those with the low analytical individu. 3) There was interaction among analytical and IQ on learning achievement mathematics.

Abstract

This research aims to determine what kind of mistakes made PGMI students even semester of the academic year 2016/2017 in solving the problem of compound statement negation on mathematical logic and to know the alternative solution. The type of this research is descriptive research with qualitative approach. The research instrument used in this research is mathematical logic test and interview. The data analyzed is the result of student work on the worksheet that made a mistake. The results of this study indicate that students experience some errors that are marking errors, mistranslate logic symbols, concept errors, mistakes remembering the truth value in the statement truth table, and error concluded. After knowing the types of mistakes made by students in working on the question of negation of compound statements, then the alternative solution that can be given to this research problem is to use learning techniques that enable students to think well Like discussing, speaking and writing in front of the class to explain Directly so that students can retain their memories much longer, emphasizing the importance of much work on the matter by watching the right symbols or practicing remembering and writing symbols through the questions, giving repetitive exercise of different types of questions, and routine assignments To be memorized by truth values in mathematical logic.

Abstract

The process of thinking is the steps that a person uses in receiving, processing, concluding, and reusing the information obtained to resolve the issues related to solve the problem of the memory. While cognitive style is an activity that became a characteristic of learners in the functioning of mental activities in the field of cognitive (thinking, remembering, processing information, organizing, solving problems, and making decisions) which is consistent. Cognitive style has a major role when utilized in an effort to improve the effectiveness of the learning process. Cognitive styles are divided into two, namely, Field Independent (FI) and Field Dependent (FD). This research is descriptive qualitative which describes the process of thinking of students in solving mathematical problems on material combinations and permutations. The data collection method in this study using GEFT tests to determine cognitive styles of students, test description of material combinations and permutations to obtain the thinking process of students, and interviews. Based on cognitive style, students are grouped into 2 groups: FI and FD, and then subsequently selected two students from two groups of students from the FI and FD to give test of thinking ability and then interviews. Data analysis technique used Miles and Huberman, data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing / verification. Based on the analysis we concluded that students who have the cognitive styles FI tend to have a conceptual thought process. Likewise, students who have the cognitive style FD, these students are also likely to have a conceptual thought process. The process of conceptual thinking is the thought process which solves problems by using the concept that has been owned by the results of studies.

Abstract

Abstract Thinking mathematically is a way of thinking in accomplishing the task of mathematics both simple and complex. The things that happened in this research, learners less like math lesson, lack of patience of educator in guiding learners, and model of lesser learning that can cause low mathematical thinking ability of learners. Thinking mathematically in Blooms taxonomy is important to improve low-level thinking to high-level thinking to solve fundamental problems to complex in mathematics. the aims of this study ie to determine think mathematically based on Blooms taxonomy revision by using the model of learning attention, relevance, confidence, and satisfaction (ARCS) is better than using a conventional learning model. The sampling technique by purposive sampling. The validity test of the instrument using product moment formula. Reliability of test instruments using Alpha formula. The prerequisite test of variance analysis is liliefors test to know normality and Bartlett test to know homogeneity, then for hypothesis testing by t-test.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the ability of interpret symbols in numerical methods. The extent of the interpretation at the level of procedure and calculation only, or its already at the level of understanding of the concepts represented by symbols with good and right way. This type of research is qualitative research. The data that obtained are analyzed in descriptive. The election of the subject based on purposive sampling technique, i.e. taking the subject with considerations/criteria 6 semester students who was taking the course numerical methods, critical and active in discussions. The subject is only drawn by 1 student, subsequently coded MN1.The material is focused in determining the approximate root of equation with the method of false position. The methods used to collect data in this research is the observation, tests and interviews. So, that the triangular used in this research is the triangular techniques. Conclusion based on the results of the research showed the new symbols to interpret NM1 limited calculation procedure only. NM1 considers, with the same symbol but different forms of counting operation, was a mistake. NM1 gives the wrong result of conclusion renders the procedure is only seen from the similarity to the symbol, not the views of the concept behind the use of the symbol.

Abstract

Based on interviews with researchers sources said that the beginning of the intestine embroidery is an art of genuine crafts. Called the intestine embroidery because this technique is a technique of combining a strand of cloth resembling the intestine formed according to the pattern by means of embroidered using a thread. Intestinal embroidery techniques were originally used to create a cover of the women's customary wardrobe of Lampung or often referred to as bebe. But not many people in Lampung, especially people who live in Lampung are still many who do not know and recognize the intestine embroidery because most only know tapis only characteristic of Lampung, besides that there are other cultural results that is embroidered intestine. There are still many who do not know that the intestine motif there is a knowledge of mathematics. The researcher's problem formulation is whether there are mathematical elements contained in the intestine embroidery motif based on the concept of geometry. The purpose of this study is to determine whether there are elements of mathematics contained in the intestine motif based on the concept of geometry. Subjects in this study consisted of 4 people obtained by purposive sampling technique. From the results of data analysis conducted by using descriptive analysis and discussion as follows: (1) Intestinal embroidery motif contains the meaning of mathematics and culture or often called Etnomatematika. On the meaning of culture there is a link between the embroidery intestine with a culture that has been there before as the existence of cultural linkage between Hindu belief Buddhism and there are similarities of motifs and decorative patterns contained in the motif embroidery intestine with ornamental variety in Indonesia. (2) The relationship between the intestine with mathematical motifs there are elements of mathematics such as geometry elements in the form of geometry of dimension one and dimension two, and the geometry of transformation. The concept of one dimensional geometry is a line, while the two dimensions are elliptical and rhombic. The concept of transformation geometry includes reflection or reflection, in which case this reflection is most prevalent in a motif contained in the intestinal embroidery motif, dilation or diminution and enlargement, rotation or rotation and transcation is a shift.

Abstract

The ability to understand a concept in the learning of mathematics is something that is required by each learner. But in fact show that in the learning process, teaching materials used have not trained learners in doing a discovery and learners less active in the learning process. This study aims to produce teaching materials in the form of a didactic design module teaching materials Algebra on Mathematics Subjects for Class VIII Semester 1 Subject material Algebra in SMP Negeri 1 Pakuan Ratu. The teaching materials module with didactic design is a module in the form of a learner's guide which contains information, materials about Algebra, examples of problems as well as exercise questions, in accordance with the problems that natural learners on learning materials, this instructional material is made to petrify participants educated in solving problems on Algebra material. Based on the results of research, Didactic instructional materials developed by researchers deserve to be used according to the validation results of material experts, linguists, education practitioners, media experts, and help learners to learn more independently and comfortable in the learning process as well as learners are very interested in teaching materials (modules) of this didactic design.

Abstract

The thinking process of each student varies in solving mathematical problems. The process of thinking in this study are grouped into three conceptual thought process, semikonseptual, and computational. The objectives of this research are to investigate the thinking process of IT student with the high logical-mathematical intelligence in solving kombinatorial problems, the thinking process of IT student with the moderate logical-mathematical intelligence in solving kombinatorial problems, the thinking process of IT student with the low logical-mathematical intelligence in solving kombinatorial problems. This research is descriptive qualitative whichdescribes the process of thinking of students in solving mathematicalproblems on material kombinatorial. The data collection method in this study using tests and interviews. Subjects of this study were six students from 1D grade IT of Universitas Nusantara PGRI Kediri and represented two student with the high logical-mathematical intelligence, two student with the moderate logical-mathematical intelligence and two student with the low logical-mathematical intelligence. Data analysistechnique used Miles and Huberman, data reduction, display, andconclusion drawing / verification. Based on the analysis we concluded thatstudents with high logical-mathematical intelligence haveconceptualthought process, the thinking process of student with the moderate logical-mathematical intelligence no identified, students with low logical-mathematical intelligence have computationalthought process.
