Abstract

The research objective was to determine the antifungal activity and the effective concentration of extract sindur wood oil in inhibiting Schizophyllum commune Fries fungus growth. Concentration of extract sindur wood oil used for the treatment were 0%, 2%, 4%, 6%, 8%, 10%, 12%, 14% and 16%. The toxicity testing had done by method using PDA medium mixed with the extract sindur oil. Extract sindur wood oil activity is inclusive of category for concentration 2%, strongth for concentration 4%, 6%, 8% and very strong for concentration 10%, 12%, 16%.The concentration of 16% is very strong anti-fungal activity which inhibit 100% of growth of S. commune fungi. Concentration 10% of extract wood sindur oil is optimum contration to inhibit S. commune fungus growth. Key word : Schizophyllum commune Fries, sindur wood oil, antifungal.

Abstract

The mangrove heap of Rhizophora mucronata Lamk as a result of planting activities managed by a community group called Surya Perdana Mandiri in Singkawang City, Setapuk Besar Village was not utilized, due to lack of information and knowledge of the community about the benefits of this type. This study aims to analyze phytochemical compounds from fruit mangrove extracts of R. mucronata, then analyzing the bioactivity of extracts against subterranean termites Coptotermes curvignathus and determine the optimum concentration of R. mucronata mangrove fruit extracts wich inhibited the activity of subterranean termites C. curvignathus. Fruit of R. mucronata was extraction with aquades for three hours with a temperature of 50°C. Then the extract was made into concentration 2%, 4%, 6%, 8%, and 10%. The filter paper was dip in extract solution then put into medium as a food source for termites for 21 days. The mortality of termites and weight loss of filter paper was analyzed to evaluate the inhibition assay.This study uses a completely randomized design method and statistical calculations using SPSS 22. Termite mortality at a concentration of 0% (control) is significantly different from all concentrations. However, when compared between concentrations (2, 4, 6, 8, and 10%) the difference was not significant, meaning that mortality between concentrations did not have a significant effect. Weight loss of filter paper at a concentration of 0% (control) was significantly different from a concentration of 10%. The results showed that the concentration of 10% of R. mucronata mangrove extract was an optimum concentration to inhibited the subterranean termites Coptotermes curvignathus with a mortality value of 92% and a weight loss value of 26.91%.Keyword : antitermites, bioactivity, Coptotermes curvignathus Holmgren, fruit waste, Rhizophora mucronata Lamk

Abstract

Forest has the potential to meet various human needs such as food, medicine, boards, handicrafts and others. Non timber forest products used by the community in Landak regency are bamboo, rattan, fruit and many kind products. The purpose of research is to describe the types of rattan plants and to describe the benefits of rattan crops in the community of Sekilap village, Mandor district, Landak regency. Methods used in this research survey method to the forest and in-depth interview to the community in Sekilap village. Sekilap village consists of 6 sub village, namely Pangkalatn sub village, Sekilap sub village, Mangke sub village, Buluh sub village, Penawar sub village, dan Baet sub village. The result of the research showed that four rattans used in the community of Sekilap village. The rattan is Rotan Kertong with local name Uwi Tangga Langit (Myrialepis paradoxa), Rotan Taman with local name Uwi Palades (Calamus caesius Blume), Rattan Semambu with local name Uwi Samamok (Calamus scipionum Lour), and Rattan Sega Ayer with the local name Uwi Saga (Calamus axillaris Becc.). Rattan used for craft materials, binding material, basket, bag, chairs, mat, and handcraft. The community used rattan from the forest near their village. Abstract

The research aimed to know gall myte diseased characteristic on plant Shorea leprosula at pruning yard. of PT. Sari Bumi Kusuma at Serawai district, sintang regency. Research desaign used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) and sample plant is placed at random in observing slot and data analysis used Khi square ( Chi Square ) with 3 treatments and 6 replications. First plant normal or untrimmed (A0), second treatment is trimmed (A1) and third treatment is trimmed plan and given by vaseline at sectioned plant which is trimmed (A2). Total plant that is utilized were 18 plants. Result of the research showed that 33% plants S. leprosula was attack by gall myte, disease for all treatment. Result tests of Chi Square pointing out that the treatment given is not significant. Disease gall myte can be seen on branch tip part plant, leaf armpit and autotrof. Initially just as bruise with circumference gall myte + 1cm and long + 0,5cm and green chromatic. Time range of appearance gall myte until ranging break tumor were 93 115 days. Abstract

Handicraft from West Borneo consists of Mandau, statue, wall decoration and others were made from Ulin wood (Euzideroxylon zwageri).  Now the supply of Ulin wood is decreasing and make the craftsmen used another raw material by using Laban wood (Vitex pubescens Vahl) and Acacia wood (Acacia mangium Willd). This wood has lower quality than Ulin wood. The craftsman used traditional smoke wood method to increase the physical and mechanical properties of wood. This method takes a long time and uneven colors. The objectives of the study were to improve the physical and mechanical properties of Laban and Acacia wood used the modern smoke process with various time of smoking. Preparation of test samples of physical and mechanical properties refer to British Standard No. 373 year 1957, with 3 (three) repetitions. Sample for water and wood density test was measured 2 cm x 2 cm x 2 cm, sample for wood dimension and color change was 4 cm x 2 cm x 2 cm, sample for hardness of wood was 6 cm x 2 cm x 2 cm and sample for mechanic crush strength was 8 cm x 2 cm x 2 cm. Smoking time used were 12 hour, 24 hour and 36 hour. Result of the research showed that smoking technique increase the physical and mechanical properties of Laban and Acacia wood. The best time for smoking wood to increase the physical and mechanical properties of Laban wood was achieved at 24 hours, meanwhile in Acacia wood was at 36 hours. Abstract

The main destructive wood organism is termites. Trees are attacked by live tree termites and also dead trees. As happened in the Arboretum area of Untan, where many trees were damaged caused by it. The aim of the study was to identify the types of tree destroyers in the Sylva Arboretum area of Untan. This study uses a field survey by exploring all the blocks found in the Untara Sylva Arboretum with an area of 3.2 ha. The results of the study at the Sylva University Arboretum in Tanjungpura from 20 observation blocks were 13 blocks which were attacked and 7 blocks were not exposed to termite attacks. Termites found 3 types of termites, these types include 2 types of soil termites (Nasutitermes Sp and Odontotermes Sp.) And 1 type of subterranean termites (Coptotermes curvignatus). The trees that were attacked in the Untan Arboretum area included 13 species of trees, namely: Acacia mangium, Acacia auriculiformis, Melicope lunu-acenda, Paraserianthes falcataria, Shorea seminis, Shorea pacipila, Shorea sp. Shorea revoluta, Dillenia sp, Gluta renghas, Calophillum inopilum, Nephelium lappaceum, Macarangga pruinosa. The most affected trees are Acacia mangium and Acacia Auriculiformis.Keywords: Tree destroyer termites, Arboretum area

Abstract

Masalah kesehatan dapat dipengaruhi oleh rokok, yang mana masalah ini terus diupayakan penanggulangannya karena menyangkut berbagai masalah kesehatan lainnya. Universitas Syiah Kuala merupakan salah satu perguruan tinggi negeri Aceh yang menetapkan KTR berdasarkan surat edaran Rektor Unsyiah dengan No. 5720/UN 11/TU/2016. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui bagaimana perilaku mahasiswa dan implementasi Kawasan Tanpa Rokok (KTR). Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif dan desain cross sectional study. Tempat dan waktu penelitian dilakukan di Universitas Syiah Kuala pada tanggal 24-29 Mei (Pembagian kuesioner) dan 10-11 Juni 2019 (Observasi). Teknik pengambilan sampel adalah proportional convenience sampling. Alat pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah lembar check list dan kuesioner. Jumlah sampel 110 mahasiswa dan 15 lokasi observasi di Universitas Syiah Kuala. Hasil penelitian kuesioner menunjukkan bahwa perilaku mahasiswa terhadap KTR berada pada kategori baik (95,%%), pengetahuan mahasiswa terhadap KTR pada kategori baik (96,4%), Sikap mahasiswa pada kategori baik (91,8%), dan tindakan mahasiswa berada pada kategori baik (89,1%). Hasil penelitian observasi 13 dari 15 lokasi ditemukan terpasang tanda dilarang merokok. Tidak ditemukan satu lokasi pun tempat/ruangan khusus bagi perokok. Meskipun kebijakan KTR sudah di buat berdasarkan surat edaran Rektor, namun hal tersebut masih kurangnya kesadaran mahasiswa sehingga masih melanggar peraturan KTR, ruang khusus merokok perlu dibuat di lingkungan kampus dan diperlukan SK dari Rektor tentang kebijakan KTR.

Abstract

Low back pain dapat menyebabkan kecacatan dan ketidakmampuan dalam bekerja. Pasien low back pain sering merasakan nyeri kronik yang diakibatkan oleh aktivitas kerja, keterbatasan ini dapat menganggu kualitas hidup yang dirasakan pasien. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui gambaran kualitas hidup pasien low back pain. Jenis penelitian menggunakan metode deskriptif eksploratif dengan desain penelitian cross-sectional study. Populasi dari penelitian ini seluruh pasien low back pain yang berobat pada bulan Februari 2019 di Poliklinik Saraf Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah dr. Zainoel Abidin Banda Aceh. Teknik penentuan sampel menggunakan purposif sampling sehingga didapatkan 103 pasien. Alat pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner MOS SF-36 dengan metode wawancara terpimpin. Hasil analisis univariat variabel kualitas hidup diperoleh sebanyak 89 pasien (86,4%) berada dalam kondisi cukup dan 14 pasien (13,6%) berada dalam kondisi baik. Kualitas hidup dinilai dari aspek fungsi fisik 73 pasien (70,9%) berada dalam kondisi cukup, keterbatasan aktivitas fisik sebanyak 78 pasien (75,7%) berada dalam kondisi buruk, nyeri 57 pasien  (55,3%) berada dalam kondisi cukup, fungsi sosial sebanyak 70 pasien (68%) berada dalam kondisi baik, kesehatan mental umum sebanyak 61 pasien (59,2%) berada dalam kondisi baik, keterbatasan peran emosional sebanyak 52 pasien (50,5%) berada dalam kondisi cukup, vitalitas sebanyak 103 pasien (100%) berada dalam kondisi cukup, persepsi kesehatan umum sebanyak 84 pasien (81,6%) berada dalam kondisi baik. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut direkomendasikan kepada pihak rumah sakit untuk meningkatkan pendidikan kesehatan terkait body mechanics dan body alignment.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to evaluate the effect of the number of composite layers on the quality of the composite board from sago bark waste and plastic waste, and the number of composite layers that produce the best quality on composite board. The composite board is made with size 30 cm x 30 cm x 1 cm. The composition and division of the material was carried out manually with the polypropylene distribution divided into three parts: the front and rear respectively of 15%, and the center 70% of the plastic weight. Target density of composite boards was 0.7 g / cm3. The treatment used is based on the number of layers composing, which is 5 layers, 7 layers, 9 layers, 11 layers and 13 layers. After mixed the sago bark particle and waste of polypropylene, the materials then compressed with hot press at 180oC with pressure about ± 25 kg / cm2 for 10 minutes. The composite boards then tested the quality included physical and mechanical properties. Testing of physical and mechanical properties refers to JIS A 5908-2003 standard. Physical properties consist of density, moisture content, thickness swelling, and water absorption. Mechanical properties consist of modulus of rupture, modulus of elasticity, internal bonding, and modulus of screw holding strength. The study used a completely randomized design experiment consisting of 5 treatments and 3 replications. The results showed the average value of composite density was range between 0.6962 – 0.7896 g/cm3, the moisture content was range between 4.3388 % - 6.8066%, the thickness swelling was range between 8.2605% - 11.9615%, and water absorption was range between 17.2380% - 22.3867%. The average value of modulus of rupture was range between 60,0632 kg/cm2 – 64,4068 kg/cm2, the modulus of elasticity was range between 17935,1813g/cm2 – 32841,8278 kg/cm2, the internal bonding was range between 1,9268 kg/cm2  - 5,4119 kg/cm2, and the modulus of screw holding strength was range between 78,2530 kg/cm2 – 92,9677 kg/cm2. The composite board made from sago stem bark waste and polypropylene waste plastic with 13 layers treatment is the best composite board and fulfilled the JIS A 5908-2003 standard. Abstract

Borneo is famous for its biodiversity richness and wealth of knowledge of traditional medicine from herbs. Knowledge passed down orally from generation to generation in the communities in Kalimantan. However, this knowledge is not documented. Therefore the research aimed to inventory the traditional knowledge of community Dayak Kebahan ethnis in Entogong village, Kayan Hulu district, Sintang Regency on used medicinal plant from the forest. This research has benefit to conservation the knowledge on utilization the traditional medicine from the forest and to conservation the medicinal plant from extinction due to the exploitation and excessive land conversion. The methods used in-depth interview and total respondents was 75 people. Result of the research showed that 71 plants have been used as traditional medicine, such as Physalis peruviana, Tinos pora rumphii, Cyathula prostrate, Imperata cylindrical, Bambusa Sp, Arhangelisia flava, Tithonia diversifolia, Euginia polyanthum, Scoparia dulcis, Hibikus mutabilis, Impatieng balsamina, Cordyline terminalis, Molineria latifolia, Selaginella doederleini, Cassiana alata, Selaginella doederleini, Urena lobata, Psidium guajava, Acorus calamus, Curcuma longa, Vitex pubescens, Morinda citrifolia, Carica papaya, Curcuma xanthorrhiza. Habitus of plants consists of liana, herb, understorey, shrub, and tree. The part of the plant used consists of root, bark, leaf, wood, flowers and seed. Family Zingiberaceae was the dominant plants used as medicine, follow by family Manispermaceae, Amaranthaceae, Asteraceae, Arecaceae, Fabaceae, Piperaceae, and Solanaceae. The plants used to overcome various diseases such as fever, skin diseases, malaria, broken bones, diarrhea, ulcers, snake bites, dengue fever, typhoid and skin burns. Methods for treatment the disease consist of drunk, taped, rubbed, sprayed, sorted, washed, and swallowed (directly). The forest in Entogong village needs to conserve due to the richness biodiversity of medicinal plant used to overcoe the disease by the community.
