Abstract

AbstractThis study aimed to analyze whether there is not the effect of RME for third grade SDN 38 north Pontianak. The research method used is the experimental method with the experimental form Pre Experimental Design, experimental design One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The population in this study were all third grade students public elementary school 38 north Pontianak with a total of 55 students. The sample selection was done by purposive sampling type, with the results of the sample being third grade B. The data collection tool was in the form of a test of student learning outcomes with 4 essay questions. Based on statistical calculations from the average results of third grade B pre-test of 46.30 and the average post-test results of third grade B of 78.30 obtained tcount of 22.19 and ttable α = 5% (with dk = 6 - 3 = 3) of 2.060 which means tcount (22.19)>ttable (2.060). So, it can be concluded that there were significant differences in student learning outcomes in the material determining the circumference and area of square and rectangle, between students taught before applying RME, and groups of students taught by applying RME in third grade SDN 38 north Pontianak. Keywords: Effect, Learning Outcome, Realistic Mathematic EducationAbstractThis study aimed to analyze whether there is not the effect of RME for third grade SDN 38 north Pontianak. Abstract

AbstractThe study investigated student misconception and cause of the misconception on straight motion. A descriptive survey was employed. The sample for the study was 87 students of X grade from SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Raya. Data are collected by using multiple choice diagnostic tests with open reason and interview. The result indicated that student made  .66% misconception about straight motion. The misconceptions were on the eleven concept, including: the sama distance as displacement (32.18%), in parallel positions two objects have the same speed (35.63%), objects in front of other objects moving with greater velocity (20, 63%), if  speed increases, then acceleration is more and more (72.99%), the downward trajectory is a slowing down trajectory (16.1%), the acceleration of the object when it stops is zero (86.21%), if the object velocity is zero, then the acceleration is also zero (34.48%), objects with a larger mass will fall faster than objects with lighter mass (94.25%), the higher the object, the smaller the acceleration, and vice versa (83,36%), an object thrown up has zero acceleration at the highest point (88.50%) and,  the direction of acceleration is always the same as the velocity (85.06%).                                                                                  Keywoards: Misconception, straight motion, diagnostic tests

Abstract

AbstractThis research was aimed to known effectiveness the application of conceptual change model to reduce students? misconceptions on heat and temperature in SMA Negeri 2 Teluk Keramat. Pre-experimental design with one group pretest-posttest design used in this research. Sample of this research was students from XI IPAclass (n = 37) who choosen by saturated  sampling technique. Diagnostic test which consisted of 18 multiple choice question with open reasoning.Based on the results of data analysis found the findings, as follows: (1) the percentage of students? misconceptions before and after being given remedial learning each 63,36% and 18,01%; (2) the average decrease of misconceptions equal to 45,35%; (3) There was a significant conceptual change (  50,7;  1;  0,05) after being given remedial learning; and (4) The level effectiveness of remediation is high (DQM= 71,57%).Based on these results, it is expected that conceptual change model can be used as an alternative remediation activities to reduce misconception. Keywords:       Misconception, Remediation, Conceptual Change Model, Heat and Temperature

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to analyze the effect of contextual teaching and learning approach on science learning outcomes of 4th grade students of Pontianak Kota 66 public elementary school. This research use experimental method with a quasi experimental form and nonequivalent control group design. The population of this study is all 4th grade students of Pontianak Kota 66 public elementary school totaling 65 students. The sampling technique uses nonprobability sampling with purposive sampling type. Data collection techniques use direct observation and measurement techniques. The research instrument used was a written test with multiple choice form. Based on data analysis result, average score post-test in the experimental class and the control class were 66,333 and 56,774. Result of t-test obtained tcount = 2,538 and ttable = 2,001 (? = 5%; db = 59). Because tcount (2,538) > ttable (2,001), its mean Ha accepted and H0 rejected. The effect size result is 0,638 with medium criteria. The conclusion in this study is that there is the effect the effect of contextual teaching and learning approach on science learning outcomes of 4th grade students of Pontianak Kota 66 public elementary school with medium criteria. Keyword   :   The Effect, Contextual Teaching and Learning Approach, Learning Outcomes, Natural Science

Abstract

AbstractThe lack of learning outcomes of MTs Negeri 2 Pontianak Students of VII Class in Science, especially Energy was caused by the fact that there were many students who didn’t really understand Physics or find it hard to understand it and also the lack of motivation and interest in this field. This research used direct instruction as studying model which aims to increase learning outcomes in Science, especially Energy. The method used in this research was pre-experimental design with one group pretest-postest design that showed the comparison of before and after the test. The population of this research is MTs Negeri Pontianak Students of VII B-K, while the sample of this research was only one class  obtained with using simple random sampling technique that was VII B Class with a total of 36 students. This Research also collected data by giving the students pretest and posttest. The result of this research showed that there was an escalation of learnig outcomes before and after using direct instruction studying model with asymp. Abstract

AbstractOne of the goals of mathematics in secondary education is that students have the ability to understand mathematical concepts, explain the links between concepts and apply concepts or algorithms flexibly, accurately, efficiently and precisely in problem solving. This study aims to determine students' conceptual understanding in terms of the high-level previous ability group and the medium-level previous ability group in solving the inverse matrix material problem in class XI Sains Senior High School Number 8 Pontianak. The research method used descriptive with survey research. The data source of this study was class XI Sains 2 and the data were answer sheets for the conceptual understanding test and student interview results. The results of the study show that the conceptual understanding of the students of the high-level previous ability group of students has been able to mention the inverse matrix definition and write singular matrix and non-singular matrix. For students of the previous ability group of medium level students have not been able to distinguish matrix that have inverses and those that do not, have not been able to write singular and non singular matrix and have not been able to choose certain procedures or operations to determine an inverse matrix. Keywords: Conceptual Understanding, Previous Ability, Inverse Matrix

Abstract

AbstractThis research aimed to determine the effectiveness of the application of the instructional model of relating, experiencing, applying, cooperating, transferring (REACT) in remediating students with misconceptions in dynamic fluid material in State Senior High School 1 Sungai Raya. This research uses pre-experimental design with the design of one group pretest-posttest. The samples were students of class XI IPA 3 with total of 27 students chosen by means of intact group. The data collection instrument uses a multiple choice diagnostic test with open reason. The results of the study show that the average percentage of students' misconception was 80.74% at the pre-test. There was a decrease in the number of students with misconceptions after remediation using the REACT learning model with an average percentage of 46.81%. Students' conceptions changed significantly (  = 29.03; df = 1; α = 5%) after being given remediation learning. The effectiveness of remediation is indicated by the value of decline in the number of students with misconceptions of each indicator with an average of 0.47, so according to the principle the phalanx effectiveness it is moderate (0.31 <ΔS <0.70). This research is expected to be used as an alternative to remedy students’ misconceptions, especially in physics. Keywords: Remediation, Misconception, REACT Model, Dynamic Fluids Material
