Abstract

Mathematics serves as a compulsory subject for elementary pupils. Moreover, it has an excessive frequency of teaching. Therefore, nearly every school hour, pupils learn mathematics. However, most of them always face difficulties in learning it. In fact, some of them hate it. As a result, teachers come to sigh because of their pupils’ difficulties in learning mathematics. The problem is how to solve the problem. This article offers a technique for teaching mathematics through a comic.Kata Kunci: Penggunaan komik, pembelajaran matematika

Abstract

Mathematics is one of the areas of study that must be studied at elementary level (SD /MI). The intellectual development of SD/MI students is still at the concrete operation stage, so that a teacher in presenting mathematics material needs to master the material of mathematics study which he/she teaches as well as the mastery of mathematics learning strategy and approach, in this case the approach of learning in elementary school. Learning is more than just remembering. For students, to understand and be able to apply science, they must work to solve problems, find something for themselves, and always grapple with ideas. Students should build their knowledge in their own minds, teachers can assist in this process, by means of teaching that make information very meaningful and highly relevant to students, by allowing them to discover and apply their own ideas and by encouraging students to be aware of and consciously using their own strategies for learning. This approach is called constructivist approach.

Abstract

This study aimed to: determine student learning outcomes by applying statistical learning methods of problem solving in the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education IAIN Palu; also to know the motivation of the students towards subjects studied statistics at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education IAIN Palu. This research is a class action (classroom action research). The study population was all students of Faculty of Teacher Training and Education IAIN Palu with a total sample of 49 people. Sample selection is done by using purposive sampling technique followed by simple random sampling technique. Data collection is done by using the test, questioner and observation. Data analysis was performed by calculating the average of the results of tests each cycle to determine the increase in student results and questionnaires and observation to determine the improvement of student learning motivation. The results showed that: (1) the results of a statistical study increased after learning method applied problem solving in students of Teacher Training Faculty of Teacher Training and Education IAIN Palu namely, from 66.14 increased to 79.54; (2) learning motivation of students to courses at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education IAIN Palu increased namely increasing student attendance (96.27% to 98.31%), increasing the number of students who complete the task (94.22% to 97, 23%), the increase of students who completed the problem on the board (2.71% to 5.10%), the increase of students who asked questions during the learning takes place (4.08% to 6.47%), and decreased student late (3.41% to 1.70%). The number of students who love to learn the statistics that 39 people; students are happy with the given problem/statistical problems to be resolved by 41 people. However found in this study was less interested students to conduct quantitative research that is only 5 people

Abstract

This study aims to know the students’ learning difficulties of descriptive statistics; know the factors that cause learning difficulties of descriptive statistics BKI student at Ushuluddin Adab and Da’wah Faculty IAINPalu. This study uses descriptive quantitative approach with research subjects are BKI students at Ushuluddin Adab and Da’wah Faculty IAINPalu. Data collection techniques were used tests and interviews. The research instrument used is a diagnostic test and interview guidelines. Data analysis technique used is descriptive statistics. The results showed that students learning difficulties statistical average of 80.06% and in the category of "Very High." Factors that lead to statistical students’ learning difficulties students include factors which causes an error in the test work on the problems, internal factors and external factors. Identification of diagnostic test results indicate the kinds of mistakes made by students in doing a matter of descriptive statistics. Mistakes done by the students include: error reading and understanding about the purpose of 69.23% (high); error of understanding the concept of 68.09% (high); misapplication of the formula of 65.61% (high); fault for not writing a formula of 83.06% (very high); calculating error of 72.53% (high); fault for not writing process amounted to 31.79% (lower); error the final result of 71.91% (high); errors due to inaccuracy of 79.77% (high); and the blame for not answering the questions of 10.82% (very low)

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to identify students' difficulties in solving math problems in the form of story problems at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Al-Khairaat Pakuli. This study used a qualitative ethnographic design approach. This research was conducted in the odd semester of the 2020/2021 school year. The research subjects consisted of two students from MTs Al-Khairaat Pakuli, namely S1 and S2. Data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation. The results of the study state that (1) subject S1 and S2 can identify and write down what is asked and what is known, (2) subject S1 and S2are also able to convert sentences into mathematical models and (3) subject S1 and S2 can use formulas appropriately by eliminating and substituting what is known in the formula. Based on research conducted by researchers, it can be concluded that the ability of MTs students. Al-Khairaat Pakuli in solving problems related to everyday life in the form of story problems The Two Variable Linear Equation System has reached the maximum level through 2 tests, the two students can understand and solve story problems accurately and consistently.
