Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan minyak buah merah (MBM) pada pakan terhadap kualitas fisik daging ayam broiler. Seratus ekor ayam broiler umur sehari (DOC) ditempatkan pada lima kelompok perlakuan pakan yang berbeda, yaitu: P1 (pakan kontrol/tanpa penambahan minyak), P2 (2% MBM), P3 (4% MBM), P4 (6% MBM) dan P5 (6% Minyak kelapa sawit). Setiap kelompok perlakuan terdiri dari empat ulangan masing-masing dengan lima ekor. Ayam broiler dipelihara selama 35 hari. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan analisis variansi pola searah dan diuji lanjut dengan Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DMRT). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa semua variable yang diamati menunjukkan adanya pengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap perlakuan yang diberikan. Dari hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan minyak buah merah (MBM) dalam pakan mampu memberikan pengaruh terhadap pH Daging, Daya Ikat Air (DIA), susut masak dan keempukan daging ayam broiler.Kata kunci : daging ayam broiler, daya ikat air, keempukan daging, pH daging, susut masakABSTRACT The experiment was conducted to study the effect of red fruit oil (RFO) onphysical quality  of broiler chicken. One hundred day old chicken (DOC) were placed in four groups of different treatments, of from levels of RFO (P1 (diet without addition of RFO), P2 (2% RFO), P3 (4% RFO) and P4 (6% RFO) and P5 (6% Palm oil)). The treatment group consisted of fivereplications with five birds each. Broiler chickens were reared for 35 days. Statistical analysis used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) and followed by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The results showed that the pH value, moisture content, water holding capacity, and cooking loss was significant differences. It could be concluded that the addition of red fruit oil in the diet give effect  of broiler chicken meat.Keywords: broiler meat, cooking loss, moisture content, pH value, water holding capacity

Abstract

The objective of this study is to determine the quality of quail eggs stored at room temperature and refrigerated. The variables evaluated are weight loss, shape index, air cell size, and the height of both the albumen and the yolk. Several factors, such as storage time and temperature could affect the quality of quail eggs. Therefore, we investigated the impact of both factors. The samples used for this experiment include 360 quail eggs. This research uses a completely randomized factorial design with two treatments. The treatments consisted of storage time (0, 7, 14, and 21 days) and temperature (room temperature and refrigerator). Each treatment was replicated 9 times. Analyses of variance had been applied to analyze the data and followed with Duncan?s test to see whether there was a significant difference between treatments. The result showed that storage time and temperature have significant effects on weight loss of the eggs, air cell size, and albumen and yolk height. The interaction between treatments had a significant impact on air cell size and yolk height. Refrigerated storage for 21 days showed the best result.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Beef cattle is one of the livestock which is considered as a side-business by Papuan. Generally, the farming practice is extensive - they let the cattle graze freely in palm plantations or just tie them down around the house. In the last seven years, more Papuan were keeping beef cattle since the government introduced beef cattle to act as a dowry for weddings to the community. The purposes of this community service program-community empowerment learning (KKN-PPM) were (1) Optimal use of agricultural waste such as tofu waste, rice bran, cocoa peels, cassava along with its by-products as additional feeds of beef cattle; (2) Reduced dependence on an additional feed from factories. KKN-PPM was carried out in Waseki Pop, Prafi District for 67 days. KKN-PPM was commenced from provisioning to students concerning the potential of feeding; the development of feed technology; complete feed and feed concentrate. Local feed materials for making feed concentrate were rice brand (70%), stacks (16%0), the waste product of tofu (11%), salt (2%), and urea (1%). Those compositions have met the requirements of dry matter and crude protein for beef cattle. 30 students from different field studies joined the KKN-PPM program. The workload of each student was calculated based on the effective working time (EWT) which was about 288 EWT. The method of implementing KKN-PPM starts from debriefing students on campus, namely the use of potential feed; feed technology development; complete feed and concentrate. During the implementation in the field, students and their supervisors conducted technical guidance on beef cattle maintenance, concentrate processing techniques, and counseling for cattle breeders. During the KKN-PPM activities, a total of 114.4 kg of concentrate was given to 7 cows. Sustainability of the program would be reached when the government of West Papua and Manokwari district had the same program for students every year to make feed concentrate for farmers. Keywords: Feed concentrate; Local material feed; Beef cattle ABSTRAK Sapi merupakan salah satu ternak yang dijadikan usaha sambilan bagi penduduk asli Papua. Pola pemeliharaan sapi pada umumnya dilakukan secara ekstensif yaitu sapi dibiarkan berkeliaran di perkebunan kelapa sawit atau diikat di sekitar rumah. Tujuh tahun terakhir ini, masyarakat asli Papua banyak mengusahakan sapi potong setelah Bupati Manokwari dengan kesepakatan Lembaga Masyarakat Adat memperkenalkan sapi potong sebagai salah satu bentuk mas kawin. Tujuan dilaksanakan Kuliah Kerja Nyata Pembelajaran Pemberdayaan Masyarakat (KKN-PPM) adalah 1. pemanfaatan secara optimal limbah pertanian untuk pakan tambahan sapi potong; 2. Berkurangnya ketergantungan pakan tambahan dari pabrik. KKN-PPM dilaksanakan selama 67 hari di Kampung Waseki Pop Distrik Prafi. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh 30 mahasiswa secara terpadu dari berbagai bidang ilmu. Volume pekerjaan setiap mahasiswa dihitung berdasarkan Jam Kerja Efektif Mahasiswa yakni sebanyak 288 JKEM. Metode pelaksanaan KKN-PPM dimulai dari pembekalan mahasiswa di kampus yaitu pemanfaatan bahan pakan potensial; pengembangan teknologi pakan; pakan komplit dan konsentrat. Dalam pelaksanaan di lapang, mahasiswa bersama-sama dosen pembimbing melakukan bimbingan teknis pemeliharaan sapi potong, teknik membut konsentrat dan penyuluhan kepada peternak sapi. Konsentrat dibuat dari bahan-bahan lokal setempat yaitu dedak padi (70%), onggok (16), ampas tahu (11%), garam (2%) dan urea (1%). Dengan formulasi konsentrat seperti tersebut maka kebutuhan bahan kering dan protein kasar sapi potong telah memenuhi standar. Selama kegiatan KKN-PPM, total konsentrat yang dibuat sebanyak 114,4 kg yang diberikan pada 7 ekor sapi. PEMDA Provinsi Papua Barat dan Kabupaten Manokwari diharapkan mempunyai program yang sama setiap tahunnya untuk mendanai kegiatan pendampingan dalam pembuatan konsentrat pada wilayah-wilayah binaannya. Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to assess cholesterol, uric acid and blood glucose levels in laying hens which are fed with the addition of betel leaf juice (Piper Bettle Linn). There were 16 chickens used in layer phase hens. The cage used is an individual cage equipped with a place for feeding and drinking water. The treatments in this study consisted of: (P0) commercial feed + 0 ml of betel leaf juice, (P1) commercial feed + 5 ml of betel leaf juice, (P2) commercial feed + 10 ml of betel leaf juice, and (P3) commercial feed + 15 ml of betel leaf juice. The variables observed were cholesterol, uric acid and blood glucose levels. The data obtained from the research results were analyzed using variance and continued with Duncan's multiple range test. The results showed that the administration of betel leaf juice had no significant effect (p <0.05) on cholesterol, uric acid and blood glucose levels in layer phase hens. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the administration of betel leaf juice does not affect the amount of cholesterol, uric acid, and glucose levels in layer phase hens, but these conditions are still in normal physiological conditions. Keywords: uric acid, layer hens, glucose, cholesterol ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji tentang kadar kolesterol, asam urat dan glukosa darah ayam petelur yang diberi penambahan jus daun sirih (Piper betle Linn) pada level yang berbeda. Ayam yang digunakan sebanyak 16 ekor induk ayam petelur betina fase layer. Kandang yang digunakan yaitu kandang individu yang dilengkapi dengan tempat pakan dan air minum. Perlakuan pada penelitian ini terdiri atas: (P0) pakan basal + 0 ml jus daun sirih, (P1) pakan basal + 5 ml jus daun sirih, (P2) pakan basal + 10 ml jus daun sirih, dan (P3) pakan basal + 15 ml jus daun sirih. Variabel yang diamati adalah kadar kolesterol, asam urat, dan glukosa darah. Data yang diperoleh dari hasil penelitian dianalisis menggunakan sidik ragam dan dilanjutkan dengan uji jarak berganda Duncan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian jus daun sirih tidak memberikan pengaruh yang nyata (p<0.05) terhdadap kadar kolesterol, asam urat dan glukosa darah ayam petelur fase layer. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemberian jus daun sirih tidak mempengaruhi jumlah kadar kolestero, asam urat, dan glukosa ayam petelur fase layer, namun kondisi tersebut masih dalam kondisi fisiologis normal. Abstract

Abstract Beef and chicken meat are potential as a medium for microbial growth such as coliform bacteria since it has a high nutrients content. Coliform bacteria in a given amount could be used as a hygienic indicator and a sign for the presence of pathogenic bacteria. The aimed of this research was to determine the amount of coliform and Escherichia coli on fresh beef and broiler chicken. The bacterial tests included qualitative tests as presumptive test, confirmed test, completed test whereas quantitavely test as Most Probable Number (MPN) to test the number of coliform and faecal coli. The results showed that pH in beef meat is normal and chicken meat shows under normal pH (pH in beef anf chicken meat are 5,7 – 5,98). Coliform and faecal coli bacteria was detected in 100% of samples had MPN values > 1 MPN/g. It means that the value do not meet eligibility criteria consumption. The high number of Coliform and faecal coli contamination in beef and chicken meat were supposed in relation with market sanitation, cross contamination with other food, low knowledge about hygiene. Keywords: Number of coliform; Beef and chicken; Traditional market Abstrak Daging sapi dan ayam memiliki kandungan nutrisi yang tinggi sehingga menjadi media yang baik untuk pertumbuhan mikroba. Salah satu jenis bakteri yang sering mengkontaminasi yaitu coliform dan faecal coli yang merupakan indikator higienis dan sebagai tanda keberadaan bakteri patogen. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghitung jumlah coliform dan faecal coli pada sampel daging sapi dan ayam yang dijual di pasar traditional kota Manokwari menggunakan uji kualitatif yaitu uji presumptive test, confirmed test, completed test sedangkan kuantitatif yaitu Most Probable Number (MPN) untuk menguji jumlah coliform dan faecal coli. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai pH daging sapi dalam kisaran normal dan pH ayam tergolong rendah yang semuanya pada kisaran 5,7 – 5,98; dan 100% sampel daging sapi, ayam dan pedagang daging terkontaminasi bakteri coliform dan faecal coli dengan nilai MPN yang tidak memenuhi kriteria kelayakan konsumsi, yakni > 1 MPN/g. Tingginya cemaran coliform dan faecal coli pada daging sapi dan ayam terkait dengan faktor kualitas sanitasi pasar, kontaminasi silang dengan bahan makanan lain dan pengetahuan higienitas yang rendah. Abstract

ABSTRACT The biogas program implemented in Jandurau Village has an impact on the community. The community began to renovate the old cattle sheds in the village of Jandurau and herded wild cattle from the forest to be kept in said sheds. The construction of the sheds involved the Jandurau community by utilizing equipment and materials owned by the community along with assistance from Bank Indonesia (BI) West Papua. A supervising team from the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, University of Papua assisted to ensure the activity went smoothly. Keywords: Cage, Biogas, Jandurau village, Cattle ABSTRAK Program biogas yang dilaksanakan di Kampung Jandurau memberi dampak kepada masyarakat. Masyarakat mulai melakukan renovasi kandang lama yang ada di kampung Jandurau, selain itu masyarakat mulai mengumpulkan ternak-ternak sapi yang awalnya diliarkan di hutan untuk di kandangkan. Pembangunan kandang melibatkan masyarakat Jandurau dengan memanfaatkan peralatan dan bahan yang dimiliki oleh masyarakat dan juga bantuan dari Bank Indonesia (BI) Papua Barat. Abstract

Antioxidants are substances that can prevent the occurrence of free radical antioxidation reactions in lipid oxidation. Red fruit (Pandanus conoideus Lam) is one of the plants endemic to Papua which contain high antioxidant. The aim of this research was to determine the abnormality spermatozoa of ayam Kampung which were received red fruit extract treatment. Eight cokcs were divided into 4 treatments, each treatment was repeated 5 times. The treatment consisted of control (P0) without extract, P1 with 0.5 mL extract/kgBW/day, P2 with 1 mL extract/kgBW/day and P3 with 1.5 mL extract/kgBW/day. The results showed that red fruit extract decreased the percentage of abnormality spermatozoa (P<0.05) compare to control (without red fruit extract). Forms of abnormality obtained was abnormalities on the head, namely swelled head, bent head, head detachement, knotted tail and smaller head, middle abnormalities, namely midpiece detachement and bending at midpiece border and abnormalities of the tail, namely bent tail, knotted tail, tail detachement and curled tail.
