Abstract

Radopholus similis is a major constraint to banana production in the world including Indonesia and growers have relied on nematicides to manage yield losses. The use of endophytic fungi is one method that may reduce the need for nematicides, however little is known on the effective application method of endophytic fungi to control R. similis. The aim of this research was to find out an effective application method of endophytic fungi to reduce R.similispopulation on banana. Fifteen isolates of endophytic fungi originated from banana corm and root collected from banana plantation in North Sumatera were applied to Barangan cultivar by sowing and deeping methods. The isolates was contained of 11 isolates of Fusarium sp. (2BSTMHMM, 3ASTMHP, 5ASP, 1ASU, 4BSP, 4BJP, 5BKJP, 4BSU, 1BJP, 2 BSP, and 4BKJP) and 4 isolates ofTrichoderma sp. (2BSTMHP, 4BSTMHP, 2BSPH, and 2BSTMHH). All of these endophytic fungi were able to suppress the population of R. similis and they had potential to promote plant growth.

Abstract

Improvement of palm oil   nutrient  status  since at the nursery is one of the efforts to improve plant resistance to Ganoderma attacks. Compost from palm oil waste and potentially endophytic microbes could  potentially  increase  plant  nutrients,  especially  N,  P  and  K.  This  study  aims  to  determine  the potential of oil palm waste compost and endophytic microbes in increasing N, P and K in the plant oil palm under  prenursery seedling. The study was conducted in a factorial experiment with the factors tested  were  types  of  compost,  type  and  time  of  endophytic  microbial  inoculation.  Research  results indicating  that  the  levels  of  N,  P  and  K  plants  are  not  affected  by  the  main  factors  and  factor interactions of three factors. The concentration of of N, P, K soil is influenced by the interaction effect of two factors. The empty fruit bunch compost enriched every type endophyte showed better effects than  compost  midrib  in  increasing  levels  of  P  and  K  nutrient  in    plants  and  plant  growth  The application  endofitic  microbe    after  and  before  Ganoderma  application      inreased    phosphor  and potassium in plant and growth plant.

Abstract

Basal stem rot (BSR) caused by Ganoderma is an important disease of oil palm in North Sumatra, Indonesia. Control of BSR is complex, because the disease occurs in the dynamic environment at the interface of the roots with soil. Compost with endophytic fungi as a biological fertilizer offer possible advantages and eventually suppressed ganoderma growth. A study using two compost oil palm (empty fruit bunch and palm oil midrib-leaf compost) containing indigenous endophytic fungi (Trichoderma koningii, T. viride, and Aspergillus sp.) singly and in a mixture was conducted to determine potential of them to control Ganoderma. The result showed that 16 weeks after artificial inoculation, all treatments aren't significant difference reduced BSR incidence but compost containing endophytic fungi have potential to inhibit the pathogen showed BSR incidence in a mixture treated lower than singly treated seedlings

Abstract

Lasiodiploidia theobromae merupakan cendawan patogen yang umum ditemukan pada  berbagai inang. Cendawan ini diketahui menghasilkan senyawa metabolik berupa theobroksida yang merupakan senyawa bahan alami epoxy cyclohexene. Theobroksida  mampu menginduksi pembungaan, menginduksi tuberisasi tanaman kentang pada lingkungan non-inducing dan berkaitan dengan inhibisi perpanjangan batang tanaman. Sebagai inhibitor alami yang diisolasi dari kultur filtrat cendawan Lasiodiploidia theobromae, aktivitas senyawa theobroksida telah diuji di lahan percobaan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Medan Area sejak bulan Mei sampai bulan Juli 2015. Ekstrak diuji pada tanaman bayam (Amaranthus spp L.) yang percobaannya disusun dalam rancangan acak kelompok sederhana dengan faktor perlakuan yaitu konsentrasi Filtrat Lasiodiploidia theobromae yang terdiri atas tiga taraf yaitu 0, 100, 200 dan 300 ppm. Hasil uji aktivitas menunjukkan bahwa aplikasi theobrokside menghambat pertumbuhan pada peubah tinggi tanaman,luas daun dan jumlah daun tanaman bayam. Lasiodiploidia theobromae is a fungal pathogen which is usually found in various host plants. This fungi is recognized to produce metabolic compounds namely theobroxide, a natural compound of epoxy cyclohexene. Theobroxide has ability to induce flowering initiation, induce tuberisation in potato plants in non-inducing environment also related to inhibition of plant stem elongation. As natural inhibitors isolated from filtrate culture of Lasiodiploidia theobromae, a research to evaluate activities of theobroxide was conducted in experimental station belonged to Faculty of Agriculture, University of Medan Area, started from Mei until July 2015.  This Experiment was arranged in simple randomized block design (RBD) with filtrate Lasiodiploidia theobromae concentration as treatment factor. The treatment comprised four levels i.e. 0, 100, 200, and 300 ppm. Results showed that application of theobroxide could significantly inhibit plant height, leave number and leaf area of spinach.

Abstract

Coffee (Coffea spp) is mostly useful as a beverage is not foreign not only for the nation of Indonesia, but also for various nations in the world. One way to increase yields and extend the life of coffee plants is by pruning. From the results of this pruning of course produces quite a lot of leaves are wasted, so it takes science and technology cultivation of coffee plants by utilizing the coffee leaves. In this study will discuss about the Study of Coffee Plant Propagation (Coffea spp) With Leaf Cut. The research was conducted in March - June 2011 in Galang Suka Village, Galang Subdistrict, Deli Serdang Regency. This research was conducted by Randomized Complete Design (RAL) Factorial with two factors. The first factor is a coffee leaf (D) consisting of two levels of treatment. D1 = The base of the leaf without the petiole, D2 = Leaf tip. The second factor is Nutrition (N) which consists of six levels of treatment. N0 = Rotone-F 200 mg / l, N3 = Growtone 200 mg / l, N4 = Growtone 300 mg / l, N5 = Dekamon 2 cc / 10 liters. From the results of the study it can be concluded that leaf tip (D2) cuttings given Growtone 200 mg / l (N3D2) survive until the end of the study, as well as leaf tip (D2) cuttings given Dekamon 2cc / 10 l (N5D2) although the numbers are only 1.23 and 1.06 and N3D2 is better than N5D2.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of different concentrations of liquid fertilizer with hydroponic planting media on kale production. The research method used was Randomized Completely Factorial Design with 2 factors: POC cocoa skin and cocoa poc added with cow dung. This study consisted of 16 treatment combinations each repeated 2 times. So there are 32 units of the whole experiment. Parameters observed include: percentage of growth, plant height, number of leaves (leaf), leaf area (), measuring leaf color, wet weight of harvest, wet weighted weighing, root length measurement. Based on the results of research that has been carried out can be concluded as follows: Provision of liquid organic fertilizer from cocoa leather and organic fertilizer liquid cow dung on the growth and production of kale plants showed unequal generative growth. The dosage of liquid organic fertilizer (POC) given by kangkung plantation has no effect on the increase of observed parameters from plant height, leaf number, leaf color, leaf area, and wet weight of the plant. Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui saluran pemasaran okra serta bagaimana efisiensi saluran pemasaran okra di Kecamatan Medan Kota. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah secara Purposive (Sengaja). Sampel penelitian ini sebanyak 24. Berdasarkan prasurvey yang dilakukan terdapat 2 pasar modern, yaitu Pasar Berastagi dan Transmart Carefour yang menjual okra, maka diambil masing-masing pengumpul dari 2 pasar modern tersebut, dan 2 konsumen dari pasar tersebut. Metode yang digunakan adalah Snowball Sampling serta metode perhitungan Microsoft Excel. Data yang digunakan adalah data sekunder dan data primer. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan April sampai dengan Mei 2018. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa saluran pemasaran okra di Kecamatan Medan Kota mulai dari petani→pedagang pengumpul→pedagang pengecer→konsumen okra, Saluran pemasaran okra yang berada di Kecamatan Medan Kota, Kota Medan,ditingkat lembaga pemasaran pedagang pengumpul dan pedagang pengecer efisien. Pada pasar tradisional yang lebih efisien ditingkat pedagang pengecer sebesar 3,07 %. Sedangkan untuk pasar modern saluran pemasaran yang lebih efisien terdapat pada pedagang pengecer dengan tingkat efisien sebesar 0,27%.
