Abstract

Lasiodiploidia theobromae merupakan cendawan patogen yang umum ditemukan pada  berbagai inang. Cendawan ini diketahui menghasilkan senyawa metabolik berupa theobroksida yang merupakan senyawa bahan alami epoxy cyclohexene. Theobroksida  mampu menginduksi pembungaan, menginduksi tuberisasi tanaman kentang pada lingkungan non-inducing dan berkaitan dengan inhibisi perpanjangan batang tanaman. Sebagai inhibitor alami yang diisolasi dari kultur filtrat cendawan Lasiodiploidia theobromae, aktivitas senyawa theobroksida telah diuji di lahan percobaan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Medan Area sejak bulan Mei sampai bulan Juli 2015. Ekstrak diuji pada tanaman bayam (Amaranthus spp L.) yang percobaannya disusun dalam rancangan acak kelompok sederhana dengan faktor perlakuan yaitu konsentrasi Filtrat Lasiodiploidia theobromae yang terdiri atas tiga taraf yaitu 0, 100, 200 dan 300 ppm. Hasil uji aktivitas menunjukkan bahwa aplikasi theobrokside menghambat pertumbuhan pada peubah tinggi tanaman,luas daun dan jumlah daun tanaman bayam. Lasiodiploidia theobromae is a fungal pathogen which is usually found in various host plants. This fungi is recognized to produce metabolic compounds namely theobroxide, a natural compound of epoxy cyclohexene. Theobroxide has ability to induce flowering initiation, induce tuberisation in potato plants in non-inducing environment also related to inhibition of plant stem elongation. As natural inhibitors isolated from filtrate culture of Lasiodiploidia theobromae, a research to evaluate activities of theobroxide was conducted in experimental station belonged to Faculty of Agriculture, University of Medan Area, started from Mei until July 2015.  This Experiment was arranged in simple randomized block design (RBD) with filtrate Lasiodiploidia theobromae concentration as treatment factor. The treatment comprised four levels i.e. 0, 100, 200, and 300 ppm. Results showed that application of theobroxide could significantly inhibit plant height, leave number and leaf area of spinach.

Abstract

To improve the quality of pepper products through organic cultivation using organic growth regulators. This Research aims to investigate concentration and long immersion effect of golden snail meat (Pomacea canaliculata L.) on the growth of pepper cuttings (Piper nigrum L.). the method was experimental with a randomized block design (RAK) Factorial design with two factors namely various golden snail meat concentrations and long immersion ranging from several hours. The parameters observed in this study was Growth Percentage (%), Bud Height (cm), Number of Leaves (Strands), Root Length (cm), and Root Volume (ml). The results showed that the treatment of snail meat zpt concentration did not significantly affect the shoot height parameters but significantly affected the percentage of growth, number of leaves, root length and root volume where the effective zpt concentration was 50%. The long immersion treatment significantly affected the percentage of growth and shoot height where the best treatment at w1 was 3 hours’ immersion. The treatment combination of ZPT golden snail meat (Pomacea canaliculata L.) and long immersion did not significantly affect all observations parameters.

Abstract

Bitter melon is fast-growing favorable vegetable these days. Nevertheless, there is limited study about it. The study aims to determine the Response of Giving Bokhasi Cow Cages and Various Organic Mulch Against Growth and Production of Bitter Melon. The study was conducted at the University of Medan Area Experimental Garden on Jl. PBSI No.1 Medan Estate with a height of 23 meters above sea level. The design used in the study was a factorial Split Plot Design (RPT) consisting of 2 factors. The first factor is the provision of organic mulch which is placed as the main plot of 4 treatments, namely: M0: without mulch, M1: rice straw mulch, M2: alang-alang Mulch, M3: rice husk mulch and the second factor is the provision of cattle cages placed as a subplot of 4 treatments, namely: B0: without bokhasi cowshed, B1: bokhasi cowshed 10 tons/ha, B2: bokhasi cowshed 20 tons/ha, B3: bokhasi cowshed 30 tons/ha. This research with 3 replications. Observation parameters of plant height, number of leaves, fruit length, number of fruits, fruit wrap, sample weight, and plot weight. The results showed that: 1) Organic mulch administration significantly affected plant height observations with the best treatment of M1 (rice straw mulch). 2) Giving bokhasi cowshed significantly affected all parameters. 3) The results of the interaction analysis have a significant effect on observing the weight of the sample with the best treatment of M3B3 (rice husk mulch + bokhasi cattle cage 30 tons /ha).

Abstract

Corn is one of stupple food to support economic growth in North Sumatera. The purpose of this research was to obtain data on the ability of compost derived from coffee husks and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in the growth and production of sweet corn plants (Zea mays sccharata Sturt). The method used in this study is a randomized block design (RDB) in factorial, with 2 (two) treatment factors, namely: 1) Factor coffee skin and  2) arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (M), each treatment was repeated two (2) times so that there are 40 experimental plots. The parameters observed are plant height, number of leaves, cob length, sample crop production per plot, crop production per plot, top wet weight, bottom wet weight, percentage of pest attack, colonization of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi, effectiveness of treatment application to all parameters. The results obtained from this study were: 1) The giving of coffee skin compost did not significantly affect the parameters of plant height, number of leaves, cob length, sample plant production per plot, crop production per plot, top wet weight and bottom wet weight; 2) The allocation of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi has no significant effect on the parameters of observing plant height, number of leaves, cob length, sample plant production per plot, crop production per plot, top wet weight and bottom wet weight; 3) The combination of coffee husks compost and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi did not significantly affect the parameters of plant height, number of leaves, length of cob, sample crop production per plot, crop production per plot, top wet weight and bottom wet weight.

Abstract

Okra plant is becoming to be one of favortite vegetable in Indonesia since then the deman of this plant is growing very rapidly. The aim of this research is to Utilize Palm Oil Liquid Organic Fertilizer and M-Bio Biofertilizer Against Growth and Production in Okra Plants (Abelmoschusesculentus  L.  Moench).  This  study  used  a  Randomized  Block  Design (RBD) with 2 replications. Factorial consisting of II treatment factors, Factor I treatment given P0: Without Liquid Palm Oil Organic Fertilizer, P1: Provision of PKS liquid fertilizer and Factor II, treatment of giving M-Bio. Parameters observed in this study were  vegetative dan generative. The results showed that the treatment of oil palm liquid organic fertilizer had no significant effect on vegetative and generative observed parameters. The treatment of M-Bio biofertilizer significantly affected the vegetative and generative observation parameters where the best dose was treatment  6%. The treatment of the combination of liquid organic fertilizer from palm oil waste and M-Bio biological fertilizer has no significant effect on all parameters of vegetative and generative observations.
