Abstract

This research aimed at developing mechanics writing of the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 3 Biromaru through descriptive text. The research used pre-experimental research design. The population was the tenth grade students,Class A, and the sample was all the populationconsisting of 20 students. The data were collected through observation and tests: pre-test and post-test. The observation was conducted to get information on the teaching and learning process in the classroom while the pre-test and the post-test were used to find out the improvement of the students’ writing skill before and after the treatment. The research found that the t-counted was 5.287. By applying 0.05 level of significance and the 20-1=19 degree of freedom, it is found that t-table was 1.729. It shows that t-counted was greater than the t-table. In conclusion, descriptive text is effective to developthe mechanics writing of the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 3 Biromaru.   Keywords: Developing; Mechanics Writing; Descriptive Text

Abstract

At the moment, plants use as medicine are mostlyland plants, while plants derived from water such asmangroves have not received much attentions.Some of the mangrove plants that can be used asmedicine are Acanthus ilicifolius, Avicennia alba,Avicennia marina, Avicennia offinalis, Bruguieracylindrical, Bruguiera exaristata, Bruguieragymnorrhiza, Ceriops tagal, Hisbiscus tiliaceus,Ipomoea pes-capre, Lumnitzera racemosa, Nypafructicans, Pluchea indica Rhizophora apiculata,Soneratia sp., dan Sonneratia alba. The plants wereutilized as antiasma, antidiuretic, antidiabetic, itchrelieve, etc. Purnobasuki, 2004).One of the mangroves that are often found on theEast Coast of Surabaya, East Java is Soneratia sp ..which is classed as true mangrove flora.Ethnobotanically, the wood and stem are used astraditional medicine as pain reliever. Based onresearch conducted by Mahmiah (2012)studyingphytochemical aspect of Avicennia marina from eastcoast region of Surabaya,it was known that the stemand leaves of the plant contained phenoliccompounds.Taking into account the existence of the waves andextreme weather conditions in the East Coast regionof Surabaya, it was hypothesized that the secondarymetabolite compounds produced by the plantswould be different. Abstract

This study aimed to predict the physicochemical properties, pharmacokinetic properties (ADME), toxicity, and analgesic activity of 30 compounds of N-benzoylthiourea derivatives that are potential analgesic drugs. One of the mechanisms of action of N-benzoylthiourea derivatives is the inhibition of the cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) isoenzyme. An in silico test was performed by docking a compound that would predict its activity with the target COX-2 isoenzyme, PDB ID: 1PXX, using the MVD (Molegro Virtual Docker) program. The result of the docking was a form of energy bond indicated by the value of the rerank score (RS), where compounds that had lower RS values were predicted to have a higher activity. The pkCSM and Protox online tools were used to predict various physicochemical properties. Based on the RS values, the N-benzoylthiourea derivatives can be predicted to have lower analgesic activity than diclofenac, the reference ligand. Three of the N-benzoylthiourea derivatives—N-(2,4-bis-trifluoromethyl)-benzoylthiourea, N-(3,5-bis-trifluoromethyl)benzoylthiourea, and N-(3-trifluoromethoxy)-benzoylthiourea—had RS values of -90.82, -94.73, and -92.76,  respectively, suggesting that these compounds were predicted to have analgesic activity relatively similar to diclofenac (RS value = -95.16). Furthermore, the majority of the  N-benzoylthiourea derivatives were predicted to have good pharmacokinetic properties (ADME), and cause relatively low toxicity.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak etanol 96% Sargassum polycystumterhadap bakteri Staphylococcus aureus. S.polycystumdiperoleh dariDesa Cabbiya, Kecamatan Talango, Kabupaten Sumenep, Madurayang diekstraksi dengan metode maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 96%. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan 5 perlakuan dan 3 kali replikasi. Masing-masing perlakuan terdiri atas ekstrak etanol 96% rumput laut coklat S. polycystumdengan konsentrasi 10% b/v, 20% b/v, 40% b/v, 80% b/v dan 100% b/v, kontrol positif yang digunakan adalah kloramfenikol 0,1%, dan kontrol negatif yang digunakan adalah pelarut yaitu etanol 96% yang digunakan sebagai pelarut ekstrak. Uji antibakteri ekstrak etanol 96% S. polycystummengunakan metode sumuran dengan jumlah bakteri yang disesuaikan dengan standar kekeruhan Mc Farland. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis statistik SPSS dengan metode One-way ANOVA. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol 96% rumput laut coklat S. polycystummempunyai aktivitas antibakteri terhadap S. aureus. Hasil pengukuran zona hambat yang diperoleh pada konsentrasi 10% sebesar 3,49 ± 3,55 mm; konsentrasi 20% sebesar 4,22 ± 3,91 mm; konsentrasi 40% sebesar 5,97 ± 5,09mm; konsentrasi 80% sebesar 8,41 ± 2,76 mm; dan konsentrasi 100% sebesar 11,07 ±0,07mm.
