Abstract

The development of an increasingly advanced technology is one of the causes for cultural values to fade and be marginalized. Therefore, exploration of culture is needed to support the sustainability of mathematics learning. this study aims to explore the mathematical concepts found in Riau Malay specialties and their application in mathematics learning. this research is a qualitative study using an ethnographic approach. The instrument used are human instrument. The researcher communicates directly with the object of research and participate actively in data collection, either by means of literature study, interview, observation, and documentation. The data analysis technique was carried out by means of data reduction, presentation, analysis, and data exposure. The results of this study are in the form of mathematical concepts found in Riau Malay specialties, namely: point, line, bowstring, triangle, rectangle, regular, octagon, circle, rectangular pyramid, beam, and congruence. Mathematical concepts found in Riau Malay specialties can be used to introduce and understand mathematical concepts in learning through local wisdom.

Abstract

This research is aims to develop learning tools consist of lesson plan, teaching materials, and test including speed reading strategy for solving mathematics word problems in English. This research is conducted in one of primary private school in Banjarbaru city. Developmental model used in this research is Thiagarajan model which is modified for normal students and limited to develop stage only. The lesson plan developed for addition and subtraction basic competence. The learning materials developed for focusing on speed reading strategy that is how to find the keywords related to addition and subtraction. The test developed in two type that is pretest for measuring students’ initial score and posttest for measuring students’ score after using developed learning materials. The result from expert validation indicated that developed learning tools is good enough for testing in small class. The result from posttest shows that developed learning tools is good based on students’ mean score that is 72 and classical completeness percentage that is 80%.

Abstract

This descriptive quantitative study aims to determine the effect of speed-reading strategy for solving mathematics word problems in English on elementary school students’ learning outcomes and self-confidence. This research was conducted in the odd semester of 2020/2021 school year in one of the private elementary schools in Banjarbaru city, with 15 of grade 3rd students as the subject. The quantitative data obtained from pretes and posttest scores based on students’ responses were analyzed using SPSS 26 through the paired sample test of Wilcoxon because the data is not normally distributed. The results obtained indicated that the speed-reading strategy used did not significantly increase the students’ pretest to posttest scores due to the lack of repetition and the way of presenting learning materials that was less attractive to students. However, the speed-reading strategy may can increase students’ self-confidence so that they are more confident in answering the word problems without the help for translation although more research is needed.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the difficulties of junior high school students in solving the surface area problem of the pyramid. This research is a qualitative study with an exploratory case study design. The exploration process in this study was carried out on 13 students of class VIII at a private junior high school in the Indramayu Regency. Collecting data in this study using tests, interviews, documentation, and field notes. While the data analysis technique used is to adopt a modification of data analysis from Miles and Huberman which consists of data collection, coding, data reduction, data display, and verification. Based on the research findings, it was found that the learning difficulties experienced by students when solving questions on the surface area of ​​the pyramid were: (1) difficulties in identifying the problems contained in the questions; (2) difficulty in connecting the concept of surface area with the concept of prerequisite material; (3) difficulty in determining the strategy for solving these questions; (4) difficulty in using operations that involve multiplying fractions or the radical form; (5) difficulties in using the formula for the surface area concept of a pyramid. Also, these findings have implications for teachers to be able to prepare to teach or learning material designs to overcome these difficulties.

Abstract

Hasil belajar dipengaruhi oleh berbagai faktor salah satunya adalah faktor internal, yaitu faktor psikologis. Salah satu faktor psikologis adalah kecemasan. Kecemasan merupakan suatu perasaan yang mengacu pada suasana hati yang tidak nyaman yang berupa perasaan panik, gugup, khawatir ditimbulkan oleh adanya permasalahan. Kecemasan yang dijadikan permasalahan dalam penelitian ini adalah kecemasan yang menyebabkan ketidakmampuan siswa dalam menyelesaikan persoalan matematika. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif. Untuk melihat mampu atau tidaknya siswa dalam mengerjakan permasalahan matematika dilakukan dengan menggunakan tes. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII SMPN 13 Banjarmasin yang terdiri dari 231 orang yang tersebar dalam 7 kelas. Sampel penelitian ini sebanyak sebanyak 70 orang yang tersebar di 7 kelas yang diambil secara acak. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan rumus slovin. Pengaruh kecemasan dan hasil belajar matematika diuji dengan menggunakan uji chi kuadrat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ada pengaruh yang kuat antara kecemasan terhadap hasil belajar matematika siswa kelas VII SMPN 13 Banjarmasin.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) Mengetahui self-efficacy siswa terhadap matematika sebelum dan sesudah pembelajaran melalui Pendekatan Matematika Realistik. (2) Mengetahui perkembangan self-efficacy siswa terhadap matematika sebelum dan sesudah pembelajaran dengan Pendekatan Matematika Realistik. Jenis penelitian ekperimen dengan desain penelitian one group pretest and posttes design, dengan populasi siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 27 Banjarmasin tahun peajaran 2016/2017. sampel penelitian dipilih dengan teknik purpossive sampling, sebanyak 30 orang siswa di kelas VII D. Teknis analisis data yang digunakan teknik analisis deskriptif dan data analisis kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan self-efficacy siswa terhadap matematika sebelum perlakuan dengan persentase kategori rendah 40%, kategori sedang 47%, dan 13% termasuk kategori tinggi. Sedangkan self-efficacy siswa terhadap matematika setelah pembelajaran melalui PMR, diperoleh persentase self-efficacy siswa terhadap matematika 3% yang termasuk kategori rendah, 73% untuk kategori sedang, dan 23% untuk kategori tinggi. Melalui uji Wilcoxon pada taraf signifikan 5% memperlihatkan nilai Sig. Sebesar 0,000 lebih kecil dari = 0,005. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah perkembangan self-efficacy siswa terhadap matematika melalui Pendekatan Matematika Realistik lebih baik dibandingkan pembelajaran sebelumnya. Sebagai implikasi dari hasil penelitian ini sebagai alternatif untuk mengembangkan self-efficacy siswa terhadap matematika hendaknya guru menggunakan model pembelajaran dengan pendekatan matematika realistik.

Abstract

Kegiatan menyelesaikan masalah merupakan aktivitas yang membantu mahasiswa untuk dapat mengetahui dan menyadari hubungan berbagai konsep dan prinsip matematika serta penerapan matematika dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Setiap konsep, prinsip, dan keterampilan dalammatematika dikoneksikan dengan konsep, prinsip, dan keterampilan lainnya. Untuk mengetahui kreativitas mahasiswa dalam membuat koneksi matematis, maka diperlukan masalah matematika yang akan digunakan sebagai stimulus, sehingga kemampuannya dalam membuat koneksimatematis dapat diketahui. Setiap individu mahasiswa tentunya memiliki karakteristik yang berbeda-beda dalam bertingkah laku, menilai, dan berpikir. Salah satu karakteristik mahasiswa yang difokuskan pada perbedaan dan penilaian individual adalah masalah gender. Menurut teori nurture (konstruksi budaya), adanya perbedaan laki-laki dan perempuan pada hakikatnya adalah hasil konstruksi sosial budaya sehingga menghasilkan peran dan tugas yang berbeda. Untuk melihat kemampuan membuat koneksi matematis ditinjau dari perbedaan gender, maka telah dilakukan penelitian terhadap mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Matematika FKIP Unlam yang mengambil mata kuliah kalkulus lanjut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat perbedaan kemampuan koneksi matematis, antara mahasiswa laki-laki dengan mahasiswa perempuan, baik itu kemampuan koneksi internal maupun kemampuan koneksi eksternal. Implikasi hasil penelitian dalam perkuliahan, khususnya perkuliahan kalkulus lanjut adalah pada pelaksanaan perkuliahan tidak perlu adanya perbedaan perlakuan antara mahasiswa laki-laki dengan mahasiswa perempuan.

Abstract

This study aims to determine how to development of learning media for the Kahoot application is feasible and effective. The learning media developed is the Kahoot application. The subjects in this study were students of class X. This type of research is R & D (Research and Development) using Dick and Carey development model. To see the feasibility of media, it was obtained from 5 expert validations consisting of 2 material experts, 1 linguist, 1 design expert and 1 media expert. Meanwhile, to see the effectiveness of media obtained from trials of learning media. The trial was carried out twice. The first trial was conducted on 9 students consisting of 3 low ability students, 3 medium ability students, dan 3 high ability students. While the second trial was conducted on class X students consisting of 30 students. Based on the conclusions of five experts stated that learning media was in good category and feasible to use. Meanwhile, based on summary of the results from the student assessment about learning media in the first and second trials with very good category. So, it can be concluded that development of learning media for the Kahoot application is feasible and effective for students.

Abstract

Research objectives is to develop a mathematics module based on Islamic values and CTL values on set material. The type of research and development. This study uses a research and development model according to Borg and Gall in Sugiyono. Data collection techniques used in this study are: Interviews, questionnaires, and test. The instruments used by the researcher were: Interview instrument, questionnaire instrument, student response questionnaire instrument. The data analysis technique used in this research is descriptive qualitative data analysis. Eligibility/validity obtained a total average score of 3,6 with the criteria “valid” by material expert validators, validation of Islamic religious experts obtained an average score total of 3,5 with “Valid” criteria. The response of students to the developed mathematics module obtained the criteria of “Very Interesting”. It is concluded that the developed learning module has valid and attractive criteria to be used as a learning resource in learning mathematics.

Abstract

This research aim is to describe the high-level cognitive processes of high school students in solving mathematics problem based on visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning style. The subjects of this research were three students which chosen from thirty-two students of class XII-1 SMAN 15 Surabaya based on visual, auditory, kinesthetic and who have the same mathematic skill. Instrument in this research include researcher, mathematic ability test, learning style questionnaire, mathematic problem-solving test, and interview guidelines. The analysis process in student’s sheet is based on high level cognitive process Anderson and Krathwohl which cover analyzing, evaluating, creating and Polya problem solving steps. The results showed that visual, auditory, and kinesthetic students went through different high level cognitive processes. Kinesthetic student can through high level cognitive processes to the cognitive process planning. Visual and auditory students can through high level cognitive processes to the cognitive process critiquing. Students need to be trained to solve mathematic problems in a variety way.
