AL QUDS : Jurnal Studi Alquran dan Hadis, is a scientific journal focusing on the study of the Qur'an and Hadith which includes the Qur'anic Sciences, the sciences of Hadith, tafseer, character study, literature study, manuscript study, living Quran and Hadith. The journal is published by Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam Negeri (STAIN) Curup, online and printed twice a year, in June and December. The Editorial Board invites scientists, scholars, professionals, and researchers in the disciplines of the Qur'an and Hadith to publish the results of their research after the selection of manuscripts, with the peer review and the editing process.

Abstract

Instructional Methods and Curriculum of Darus Sunnah as an International Hadith InstitutionThis paper delves into "Darus Sunnah as an International Hadith Institution.” This research was conducted to prove that Darus Sunnah is an Islamic boarding schoolexisting at the international level.This research also showed that the educational program of Darus Sunnah used four methods, namely: mudhākarah, halaqah fajriyyah, munazhzhamah, and istijmām.The learning method applied in Darus Sunnah wasstudent-centered, wherein students were required to discuss actively with the mudarris as facilitators. The methods used in this Islamic boarding school dailycomprised: bandongan, sorogan, tahfizh of hadith, tahfizh of Qur’an, and tahfizh of yellow books. The students of Darus Sunnah were also directed to conduct a community service program (PPM) as an ideal of PPM model. This research proved that Darus Sunnah is an international hadith institution. This is proven by the following facts: 1. Darus Sunnah Islamic Boarding School has got a branch in Malaysia since 2012, located in al-Sakinah Eco Resort Kampung Janda Baik, Negeri Pahang, Malaysia. 2. Darus Sunnah Islamic Boarding School has sent dā'i to foreign countries, such as America and Malaysia. 3. The sending of students to Egypt is one proof that Darus Sunnah is an international boarding school. The program to send students to Egypt is in collaboration with the Lido Pesantren 4. Darus Sunnah Islamic boarding school also frequently receives international students especially students who study around Darus Sunnah Islamic boarding school

Abstract

This article discusses the al-wujuh wa al-nazhair al-Qur'an in a historical perspective. The problem of pronunciation in the Qur'an seems to have emerged since the early generations of Islam. But in its development this study has been hated because it is deemed deviated from the function of the Qur'an which is a guide book (huda) not a book of linguistic practice. This opinion cannot be taken for granted, because understanding the meaning of pronunciation is the first step to understanding the Qur'an. This study explains the history of the development of the science ofal-wujuh wa al-nazhair in the classical and contemporary era. Through qualitative research and the chronic historiographic approach, researchers want to examine how this scientific development is from classical and contemporary times and distorted in each period. The result is that in classical era more work appeared specifically discussing this discourse. While in the contemporary era the discourse ofal-wujuh wa al-nazhair was more applicable and integrated in the commentaries. And more affected by hermeneutic thinking instead.

Abstract

Civilization of the Text: The Concept of Al-Quran Interpretation by Syed Naquib Al-Attas in Facing ModernizationSyed Nuqaib al-Attas projected a civilization rooted in the Quran and Hadith texts which were motivated by the massive secularization of values in Muslim countries by offering the concept of al-Quran interpretation. This paper aims to compile the concept of al-Attas Quranic interpretation, which is still scattered in some of his works, by building the structure of ideas and worldviews of the concept that the author calls metalinguistic interpretation. This paper uses an interpretive discourse analysis method. This method constructs the discourse by al-Attas ideas in his works, especially on two themes: 1) Islamic civilization and 2) the interpretation of the Quran. This article concludes that al-Attas offers cross-disciplinary knowledge that integrates the text of the Quran with other perspectives, namely: philosophy, intellectual tasawwuf, linguistics, and metaphysics. These cross-disciplines will produce an authoritative reading of the Quranic text and serve as a foundation to build a civilization facing modernity with various terminological offers, such as Ta'dib, din, ikhtiyar, and Islam. Furthermore, this position makes al-Attas different from several other figures such as Nasr Hamid Abu Zayd and Jamaluddin al-Afghani in the same discourse

Abstract

The discourse on the Qur'an, until now, is still dominated by the dimensions of the internality of the Qur'an rather than its external dimension. Such conditions create the gap between the Qur'an on one hand and the readers or users of the Qur'an on the other. With using some cases of creating external Quranic dialouging as the core of analysis, this paper will answer the question how to re-readsome classical ideas or concepts in Islamic teaching and studies, especially those relating to the Qur'an, which actually shows the development of discourse for the context of the externalities of the Qur'an in the form of vertical dialogue between readers of al-Quran and the Qur'an itself. Although the existing discourse is still stay in the theological nuances and human interaction with the God, but the discourse has the potential to be further developed to enrich the tradition of Quranic studies. At the same time, in the perspective of the classical living al-Qur'an, it shows that the dialogue of Qur'an in the context of its externality means to dialogue the Qur'an in the context of humanity. Although it can not be separated from the divine dimension, the Qur'an becomes more alive in society and its humanity in the form of dialoging Quran with its readers and humankind generally

Abstract

Study the book of Hadith is a great importance to study, especially the study of rijāl al-hadīth, such as Tadzkirah al-Huffazh of al-Dzahabi, Sunni versions, and Kitāb al-Rijāl of al-Hulli, Syi'i version. This research was conducted with descriptive analytical approach and historical approach. This study found that both books discuss the rijāl al-hadīth (the narrators of hadith) from the aspect of quality that is structured in the systematic style of the book of Mu'jam. The difference is that the Sunni rijāl al-Hadīts are the companions of the Prophet, the tabi'in and so on, while the Shi'ite rijāl al-hadīth is the Ahl al-Bait which is attributed to the figure of Ali bin Abi Talib. Historically, the two books are composed from the historical background behind it. The Book of Tadzkirah al-Huffazh is structured as an attempt to legitimize narrators and memorizers of Hadith from amongst shahabah, tabi'in, and so on. Meanwhile, the Kitāb al-Rijāl version of the Shi'ah also wanted to prove the greatness of their companions from the ahl al-Bait people attributed to Ali ibn Abi Talib.

Abstract

This article discusses an interpretation of the Qur’an by Abdullah Saeed using the contextual interpretation model. However, this paper will focus on how Abdullah Saeed developed the concept of the hierarchy of values inspired by Fazlur Rahman's thought, which discussed the problem hierarchy of values as general principles. However, Fazlur Rahman did not provide specific devices to develop the hierarchy of values. Abdullah Saeed developed and formulated the concept hierarchy of values into five levels, including obligatory values, fundamental values, protective values, implementational values, and instructional values. The five hierarchies of values become a complete unified frame as an effort to the contextual interpretation of the Qur’an, especially the ethico-legal verses that mostly fill the daily life of most Muslims based on the understanding of maqashid al-sharia and the concept of good deeds. This study uses a descriptive analysis method and hermeneutic analysis techniques to apply the concept hierarchy of values in the Qur’anic interpretation. The results of this paper are in the contextual interpretation of QS. Al-Hujurat verses 1-18 contain the five hierarchical levels of values that have been specifically conceived by Abdullah Saeed

Abstract

This study aimed at determining the differences of learning concentration ability between the students who listened to the murattal of Qur'an and the students who listened to the recitation of Qur'an. This research was a comparative study with an experimental approach using two groups pre and posttest design. There was two experimental classes and it consisted fifteen students of each. The first experimental class was given an audio murattal of the Qur'an intervention and the second experimental class was given an audio recitation of the Qur'an intervention. The data collection instruments used in this study was concentration ability tests which were developed and referenced from the Employee Aptitude Survey (EAS) test and consisted of 5 subs tests namely word fluency sub tests, verbal comprehension, verbal classification, visual space speed and accuracy test, and understanding of reading test. The results obtained in the two groups based on the t test results obtained sig. (2-tailed) 0.018 <α 0.05, this showed that there was a significant difference between the students who listened to murattal of the Qur'an and the students who listened recitations of the Qur'an. It appears that Qur'anic recitation treatments is more effective in increasing learning concentration

Abstract

The writing explains the discourse of classical and contemporary scholars regarding friend justice, as something urgent in the narration of hadith. Argumentatively-dogmative this paper constructs the justice of friends in the classical ulama perspective, as well as the argumentative-dogmatic of contemporary scholars regarding friend justice in the narrative of the hadith as a comparison. This study is literary in nature which refers to qualitative methods that collect data from various Islamic literature that are considered to have relevance. So that it can be concluded that the religious scholars of the past had a friend's belief that they were just people guaranteed by the Prophet as human beings in their time, the Sunni argument was contradicted by contemporary scholars

Abstract

Iltifȃt Stylistic Feature in ‘Itȃb Verses and Their Influence on Qur’anic InterpretationThe grammatical shift in theQur’anic style, well-known by iltifat, indicates particular meanings so that the existence of this stylistic feature in verses can influence its interpretation. This paper, then, attempts to explore the influence further it makes by examining verses that contain reprimands (‘itab) in the Qur’an, verses of reprimand that use iltifat or not.The purpose of this study is to determine the extent of iltifat’s influence in the interpretation of the reprimand verses, namely in surah ‘Abasa (80) verses 1-11, compared with other reprimand verses that do not use the iltifat style. This study, then, applies a linguistic interpretation (al-tafsir al-lughawi) approach that analyzes verses based on the meaning of words, word order, and rhetorical aspects. This paper argues that the existence of the iltifat style in the reprimand verses refers to courtesy and exaltation. A sense of gentleness in fostering and educating is found as the influence of iltifat style on these verses

Abstract

Women's Leadership: The Application of the Feminist Hermeneutic Interpretation Method of Amina WadudRevealing and also criticizing Amina Wadud's interpretation of feminist hermeneutics in the context of women's leadership in the public field of modern era is the aim of this article. To understanding God's messages contained in His words is certainly not easy and requires a special method that is popularly referred to as takwil and tafsir. On the other hand, the dynamics of human culture development are constantly evolving and almost unstoppable which will indirectly also affect the interpretation of the Qur'an. Many various methods of interpretation were introduced by scholars to explore their contents from classical methods to modern methods. Among the emerging modern methods is the hermeneutics feminism which was pioneered by Amina Wadud. According to him the classical interpretation model is no longer relevant to the modern context, especially in terms of addressing gender. Nearly the results of the classical interpretation are gender deviations and take side to male. Therefore, the interpretation of the Qur'an is expectedly just, and then the interpretation model should be adjusted to the modern context rather than looking at the past, especially with regard to the position of women. This paper will highlight this event using a socio-historical approach and content analysis. In addition, references related to the patterns of Islam integrity and culture will be used with a comparative pattern. The conclusion of this research is that Wadud based his interpretation method on the language, justice, and equality aspects. According to him,a woman can be a leader both in the domestic and public today. Wadud set his opinion based on the textual meaning consideration of the verse without considering the hadith explanation
