Abstract

The phenomenon of the diversity of religious understandings of Islamic mass organizations in Indonesia promotes a variety of attitudes in the midst of society.  The purpose of this study was to analyze the results of a comparative study of religious understanding of Persatuan Umat Islam (PUI) and Al-Irsyad al-Islamiyyah reviewing the similarities and differences in building ukhuwah Islamiyah. This study employed a qualitative approach and a descriptive method.  In relation to the data collection techniques, this study employed several techniques such as interviews, observation, and documentation study. Furthermore, the collected data were analyzed using a descriptive analysis.  Based on the results of the study, it is obvious that the historical background of the establishment of PUI and Al-Irsyad was definitely different with each other. PUI was established as a result of blending the two different Islamic organizations. On the other hand, al-Irsyad was established as the continuation of the former organization called Jamiatul Khair. With respect to the faith understandings, both PUI and al-Irsyad adopted the same understanding, Aqidah ahlus Sunnah wal Jama'ah.  In the realm of worship practices, PUI adopted the understanding of the Shafi'i schools of thought, while Al-Irsyad al-Islamiyyah referred directly to the Qur'an and the Sunnah through the understanding of their scholars. In addition, in understanding Tasawwuf, PUI provided flexibility to each individual in regard to the tarekat involvement, while Al-Irsyad al-Islamiyyah in principle did not adopt the concept of Tasawwuf.  Al-Salam, Ishlah al-Samaniyah, santri asromo, santri lucu and intisab were considered as a series of unique concepts adopted by PUI.  On the other hand, the initial basic principle of the Al-Irsyad Al-Islamiyyah movement was to realize equality in the lives of fellow Muslims based on the understandings as postulated within the Quran and the Sunnah, and to remove the innovation practices (bid'ah) in terms of the faith as stated in the mabadi of Al-Irsyad.  In terms of the charitable efforts, these two organizations put more concern primarily on the realms of religion, education, economy, and social. Therefore, as the implication of this issue, the society will behave wisely in regard to the differences in Islamic understandings of Islamic mass organizations in the midst of society.Fenomena beragamnya paham keagamaan organisasi massa Islam yang ada di Indonesia menimbulkan beragam sikap di tengah-tengah kehidupan masyarakat. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menganalisis hasil studi komparasi pemahaman keagamaan Persatuan Umat Islam dan Al-Irsyad al-Islamiyyah tinjauan persamaan dan perbedaan dalam membangun ukhuwah Islamiyah. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan metode deskriptif. Teknik pengambilan data dengan wawancara, observasi dan studi dokumentasi.  Data-data yang sudah diperoleh kemudian dianalisis melalui analisis deskriptif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, terdapat perbedaan sejarah berdirinya PUI dan Al-Irsyad. PUI terlahir dari gabungan 2 ormas Islam yang berbeda, adapun Al-Irsyad terlahir dari ormas Jamiatul Khair. Dalam pemahaman ?aqidah, PUI dan Al-Irsyad sama-sama menganut paham ?aqidah Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama?ah. Dalam pengamalan ibadah, PUI mengadopsi pemahaman madzhab Syafi?i rahimahullah, adapun Al-Irsyad al-Islamiyyah merujuk langsung kepada al-Qur?an dan Sunnah melalui pemahaman ulama mereka. Dalam pemahaman Tasawuf, PUI memberikan keleluasaan kepada pribadi masing-masing untuk mengikuti tarekat manapun, adapun Al-Irsyad al-Islamiyyah secara pemahaman tidak mengadopsi konsep tasawuf. PUI memiliki prinsip khas yakni konsep al-Salam, Ishlah al-Samaniyah, santri asromo, santri lucu dan intisab. Adapun prinsip pokok awal gerakan Al-Irsyad al-Islamiyyah yakni mewujudkan kesetaraan dalam kehidupan sesama muslim berdasar pemahaman yang bersumber dari al-Quran dan sunnah, menumpas praktik bid?ah dalam hal akidah sebagaimana yang tercantum dalam mabadi Al-Irsyad al-Islamiyyah.  Dari segi amal usaha kedua ormas ini memiliki kesamaan dalam bidang keagamaan, pendidikan, ekonomi, dan sosial. Implikasinya dalam menyikapi perbedaan paham keagamaan ormas Islam di tengah-tengah masyarakat akan semakin bijaksana.

Abstract

Islam as one of the religions in the world has several types of social interaction. The way of interaction is called silaturahmi, one of the most pivotal topics in it is communication among Moslem start from Prophet Muhammad spread the Islamic values including in terms of social treatment to others. This article focuses on Prophet Muhammad endeavor for women?s emancipation, the struggle begins with the Mecca period until he died. The studying aim is to find out in-depth the prophet Muhammad method and the impact of a social system in there. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative research expected to be able to reveal qualitative information with description-analysis using the strategy used in this research is a case study. The result indicates the guidance and awareness of women emancipation through the prophet Muhammad strategies pose a huge impact on belief in improving women position in society using the thoughts of feelings and actions in accordance with the teachings of religion in the context of Islam the teachings of revealed Book ? the Quran and the Sunnah?.Islam sebagai salah satu agama yang memiliki beberapa tipe interaksi sosial. Cara interaksi tersebut dikenal dengan istilah silaturahmi, salah satu topik paling utama di dalam komunikasi antara muslim dimulai semenjak Nabi Muhammad menyebarkan nilai keislaman termasuk dalam hal perlakuan sosial kepada orang lain. Artikel ini fokus kepada upaya Nabi Muhammad dalam emansipasi perempuan, usaha tersebut dimulai pada periode Mekah hingga ia meninggal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami metode Nabi Muhammad dan dampaknya terhadap sistem sosial pada masa tersebut. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif yang diharapkan mampu untuk mengungkap informasi kualitatif dengan analisa deskriptif menggunakan cara studi kasus. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa bimbingan dan kepedulian terhadap emansipasi perempuan melalui strategi Nabi Muhammad memberikan dampak yang signifikan dalam peningkatan posisi perempuan di dalam masyarakat menggunakan pemikiran dan tindakan yang sesuai dengan ajaran agama Islam yaitu ?Al-Quran dan Sunnah?.

Abstract

This article depicts issues of the connection between women?s status and their roles in landownership in Java and Bali. In Java, for example, despite the fact that they are fortified by family law, just around one-third of land ownership belongs to women. In Bali, the Hindu women need to comply with the standard law in which they deal with a dilemma between their privileges and their reliability towards their families, networks, and culture. The absence of women's land ownership, either by the customary law or by the land enrollment, shows that the agrarian approach of land enlistment consistently gets women into the lower status of their legal ownership. Additionally, it impacts on the manners in which they practice religious convictions as they are situated in troublesome way of any legal issues, including family law (hukum keluarga) and inheritance rights (hak waris). Not with standing the Javanese government's endeavors to teach the general population about land enrollment and a couple of Hindu families to move a component from parent to little girl through a deed of offer before the land deed official, a few women know about the registration phases and the religious instrument of legacy rights. Subsequently, the manners in which Java and Bali women' inclinations are not bargained in political, social, and religious aspects. This article concludes that formal methodology for the exchange of land ownership when land is sold or partitioned in Bali, and also, standard Javanese practices in which insurance to the possibility of marital goods is given.Artikel ini berusaha menjelaskan hubungan antara status wanita dalam konteks agama dan peran mereka dalam kepemilikan tanah di Jawa dan Bali. Di Jawa, misalnya, meskipun kondisi mereka diperkuat oleh hukum keluarga, hanya sepertiga dari sertifikat tanah yang beratasnamakan perempuan. Sebaliknya, perempuan di Bali harus mengikuti hukum adat yang menghadapkan mereka pada dilema antara kebutuhan sehari-harinya di saatu sisi dan kepatuhannya terhadap keluarga, masyarakat, dan kebudayaan lokal di sisi lain. Minimnya kepemilikan tanah oleh perempuan ini, baik yang disebabkan oleh hukum adat maupun oleh hukum formal, memperlihatkan bahwa kebijakan pertanahan seringkali menempatkan mereka dalam status yang inferior. Mereka sama-sama menghadapi kesulitan di hadapan hak waris maupun hukum keluarga. Sekalipun di Jawa sudah ada sosialisasi terkait pendaftaran tanah dan di Bali sedikit dari mereka yang memberikan hak kepemilikannya kepada anak perempuannya, mereka tetap saja masih belum banyak memahami prosedur registrasi tersebut dan semakin marjinal dalam kepemilikan tanah dari hak waris. Kondisi ini memperlihatkan bagaimana perempuan Jawa dan Bali tidak terlalu diperhitungkan dalam ranah kebudayaan, politik, dan agama. Artikel ini akhirnya berkesimpulan bahwa perlu ada prosedur penjaminan tanah ketika tanah itu dibagikan di Bali, dan perlu ada jaminan keamanan terhadap hak-hak waris dalam adat Jawa

Abstract

One of the developments at the end of the twentieth century was the emergence in every religious tradition a militant piety popularly called "fundamentalism". This term is also used to indicate a new movement in the rise of Islam. According to Karen Armstrong Islamic fundamentalism is textual and anti-modernism, Islamic fundamentalism, although with a conservative spirit, they have composed creative and innovative ideologies to make changes. Islamic fundamentalism is realized in the context of the application of Islamic sharia which is considered as an alternative solution to the resolution of the nation's problems. The offered solution to these problems is to carry out Islamic sharia in full with the literalist approach to the Qur'an. The implication of Karen Armstrong's thought in the fundamentalist movement in Indonesia is that the FPI and MMI movements are grouped in the Islamic fundamentalist movement because both movements are in accordance with the characteristics of the fundamentalism movement. FPI and MMI have a textual understanding of the Qur'an and Hadith. FPI and MMI took the Qur'anic texts and hadith literally to justify their actions. FPI and MMI have anti-modernist attitude in carrying out Islamic law which they understand. The power of FPI and MMI in Indonesia are politically in disadvantaged position.Keywords: Islamic Fundamentalism, Karen Armstrong, Fundamentalism GroupAbstrakSalah satu perkembangan pada akhir abad kedua puluh adalah munculnya di setiap tradisi agama sebuah kesalehan militan yang secara populer disebut ?fundamentalisme?. Istilah ini juga dipakai untuk menunjukkan sebuah gerakan baru dalam kebangkitan Islam. Menurut Karen Armstrong fundamentalisme Islam adalah tekstual dan anti modernisme. Fundamentalisme Islam walaupun dengan semangat konservatif, telah merangkai ideologi yang kreatif dan inovatif untuk melakukan perubahan. Implikasi pemikiran Karen Armstrong dalam gerakan fundamentalisme di Indonesia adalah bahwa gerakan FPI dan MMI dikelompokkan dalam gerakan fundamentalisme Islam karena sesuai dengan karakteristik gerakan fundamentalisme. FPI dan MMI memiliki pemahaman secara tekstual dalam memahami Al-Qur?an dan Hadis. FPI dan MMI mengambil teks-teks Al-Qur?an dan hadis secara literalis untuk membenarkan aksi yang mereka lakukan. FPI dan MMI memiliki sikap anti modernisme dalam menjalankan syariat Islam yang mereka pahami. Kekuasaan FPI dan MMI secara politik di Indonesia tidak diuntungkan.

Abstract

Pantara region (Panti-Tapus-Rao) is an area that lies on the border north Sumatra Indonesia consists of diverse cultures, ethnicities, races and religions. This area is a picture of a multicultural society, scattered in various corners of the village. The society of Pantara is a homogeneous society both in terms of custom and religion in Minangkabau. During the era Pagaruyung Kingdom in Minangkabau, Pantara region was given region's special autonomy status called "Lordship of Padang Nunang" located in Rao. The status of “Lordship” as shoreline areas (regions in power) is given by the special autonomous kingdom of Pagaruyung, contributing to strengthen society of "Pantara" as an honor for indigenous of Minangkabau tradition which holds the tradition of, "Tradition founded upon Islamic law, Islamic law founded upon the Qur'an" (adat basandi syara', syara' basandi Kitabullah). The massive arrival of Batak Toba and Mandailaing in the early days of independence to Pantara region(Panti-Tapus-Rao), change homogenous society into a heterogeneous society. The diversity in Pantara region covers ethnicity and culture as well as diversity in religion. Batak Toba and Mandailing society share the same patrilineal culture, but they are different in terms of religion. Batak Toba society made Protestants association or better known as HKBP while Mandailing community embraced Islam. Minangkabau people have the same religion as the Mandailing, because both are Moslem but they are different in customs. Mandailing embraced patrilineal while indigenous Minangkabau is matrilineal. On the other hand, Batak and Minang people different both in religion and culture. Batak are Christians while the Minangkabau are Muslims. The presence of Javanese people who come when it was brought by the Dutch, and the arrival of Malay people who chose to stay in the region participated Pantara enrich the diversity of Pantara region. Pantara region now has turned into a society that is heterogeneous in terms of ethnicity, religion, culture and language, they are live together in harmony, although sometimes arise, but can be mitigated and resolved quickly.There are some factors to live in harmony in diversity within the multicultural society of Pantara: 1). Understanding of religious teachings which are sublime and peaceful, 2). Values of local wisdom, 3). Recognition of newcomers, 4). And the pattern of leadership in the community

Abstract

The phenomenon of fragment movement in Indonesia nowaday becomes very popular along with the lunge and the accompanying notes. Recently, it is reported the existence of fragment such as the Ismailis, Baatinites, and Qaramithah of the Shiite sect; Bahaiyyah and Ahmadiyah, and so on. The topic of this study is the existence of Ahmadiyah, a fragment drifts in Islam of this country and has aroused many debates, even leads to chaos. This study used three instruments, namely concepts, propositions and theories. The three instruments is a methodology to clarify the limits and substance of the examined. From the result of research, it can be explained that the Ahmadiyah initially present itself (in India-Pakistan and also in Indonesia) as a religious reformer sect, submissive to justice and nationality. Then, Ahmadiyah becomes very messianic-introversionis and avoid the activities outside their own circles. Ahmadiyya ever involved in Islamisation process of Indonesian scholars during the colonial era, then changed by eliminating its function as a pioneer reformism and rationalism in Islam. Fenomena gerakan sempalan di Indonesia dewasa ini menjadi sangat populer seiring dengan sepak terjang dan catatan yang menyertainya. Belakangan ramai diberitakan keberadaan aliran sempalan seperti  Ismailiyah, Batiniyah, dan Qaramithah dari sekte Syiah;  Bahaiyyah dan Ahmadiyah, dan sebagainya. Pada aras ini eksistensi kelompok sempalan yang diteliti adalah Ahmadiyyah, suatu aliran yang menyempal dalam agama Islam di tanah air dan telah menuai banyak perdebatan, dan bahkan memicu terjadinya chaos. Penelitian ini menggunakan tiga instrumen yaitu konsep, proposisi dan teori. Ketiga intrumen ini merupakan bangunan metodologi untuk memperjelas batasan dan substansi yang dikaji. Dari hasil penelitian dapat diuraikan bahwa Ahmadiyah pada mulanya menampilkan diri (di India-Pakistan dan juga di Indonesia) sebagai aliran keagamaan reformis, berkhidmat kepada keadilan dan kebangsaan. Belakangan Ahmadiyah menjadi sangat messianis-introversionis dan menghindar dari kegiatan di luar kalangan mereka sendiri. Ahmadiyah yang pernah memainkan pengislaman kaum terdidik di Indonesia pada masa penjajahan, kemudian berubah dengan menghilangkan fungsinya sebagai pelopor reformisme dan rasionalisme dalam Islam

Abstract

Da’wah is a mandatory requirement to be implemented by all Muslims. Da’wah planning and execution require a rigorous strategy to ensure the success of the Da’wah undertaken. This paper highlights one of the marketing strategies of the relevant product seen to be applied in the planning of the Da’wah of market segmentation. This study is an analysis of the text through documentation method. Market segmentation strategy involved in the design of propaganda using the basic outlines for each segment of the target, determine the profile, characteristics attraction towards the target, determines the number of segments, determine the location and form of the marketing mix for a given target segment propaganda Dakwah merupakan suatu tuntutan wajib untuk dilaksanakan oleh semua umat Islam. Pelaksanaan dakwah memerlukan perancangan serta strategi yang rapi bagi memastikan kejayaan proses dakwah yang dilaksanakan. Kajian ini mengutarakan salah satu strategi pemasaran produk yang dilihat relevan untuk diaplikasi dalam perancangan dakwah yaitu segmentasi pasaran. Kajian ini adalah analisis teks menerusi metode dokumentasi. Strategi segmentasi pasaran diaplikasi dalam perancangan dakwah menerusi kaedah menggariskan asas bagi setiap segmen sasaran, menentukan profil, ciri-ciri tarikan terhadap sasaran, menentukan jumlah segmen, menentukan lokasi serta membentuk campuran pemasaran bagi segmen sasaran dakwah yang ditentukan.

Abstract

Sexual and Gender disorder Issues, which refers to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) community is not a new issue. Allah has explained about homosexual issues prevailing among the people of Prophet Luth. This paper discusses the related issues (LGBT) by analyzing a collection of aspects of this threat to the security and religious harmony. Various claims have been made by this group in the name of human rights. Symptoms, treatment and disposition opposed to the normal life of a person human system has become a regular affair in the world and especially Malaysia. In fact the case is cultivated in transnational level through United Nation Human Right Convention (UNHRC) and backed by the major countries in tthe world. The symptoms of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) has become accepted way of life by the outside community and now infiltrating in the life of islamic community in Malaysia. These symptoms shall be dammed to ensure public security and religious harmony in Malaysia. Permasaahan kecelaruan seksual dan jantina, yang merujuk kepada komuniti Lesbian, Gay, Biseksual. dan Transgender (LGBT) bukan merupakan isu baru. Sebaliknya, Allah swt telah menjelaskan tentang permasalahan homoseksual yang berlaku di kalangan umat Nabi Lut as. Penulisan ini membincangkan isu berkaitan (LGBT) dengan menganalisis dari aspek ancaman kumpulan ini terhadap keamanan dan keharmonian beragama. Pelbagai tuntutan telah dilakukan oleh kumpulan ini atas nama hak asasi manusia. Gejala, perlakuan dan tabiat bertentangan dengan sistem kehidupan normal seseorang manusia telah menjadi suatu perkara yang biasa di dunia amnya dan Malaysia khasnya. Malah perkara ini diperjuang di peringkat antarabangsa menerusi United Nation Human Right Convention (UNHRC) dan disokong oleh negara-negara besar dunia.Gejala lesbian, gay, biseksual dan transgender (LGBT) telah menjadi cara hidup yang diterima oleh masyarakat luar dan kini sedang meresap masuk ke ruang atmosfera kehidupan masyarakat Islam di Malaysia. Gejala ini wajib dibendung bagi menjamin kemanan dan keharmonian beragama masyarakat di Malaysia.

Violence in the house-hold (domestic violence) becomes an important issue in recent decades. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) between 40 to 70 percent of women in the world die for the violence in the household. In Indonesia, over the years the number of victims of domestic violence is increasing, so that led to the nativity of Law No. 23, 2004. By the law, there will be the power of law to govern the domestic violence cases in Indonesia, as well as an effort to overcome the problem of domestic violence in Indonesia. In order to provide the services for victims of violence at the Women and Child Protection, the Ministry of Womens Empowerment and Child Protection (State Ministry of PP & PA) formed the Integrated Service Center for Womens Empowerment and Child (P2TP2A), special for Bukittinggi. Womens Empowerment and Child Protection (P2TP2A) Bukittinggi is an integrated activity center that provides services for women and children victims of violence in Bukittinggi which includes information services, psychological and legal consultation, assistance and advocacy as well as medical services. Kekerasan Dalam Rumah Tangga (KDRT) menjadi isu penting dalam beberapa dekade terakhir ini. Menurut laporan World Health Organization (WHO) antara 40 hingga 70 persen perempuan di dunia meninggal akibat kekerasan yang terjadi dalam rumah tangga. Di Indonesia, dari tahun ke tahun jumlah korban KDRT selalu meningkat, sehingga mendorong lahirnya Undang-Undang No. 23 tahun 2004. Dengan Undang-undang tersebut, ada kekuatan hukum yang mengatur masalah kasus KDRT di Indonesia, sekaligus sebagai salah satu upaya untuk mengatasi permasalahan KDRT di Indonesia.  Secara spesifik, untuk memberikan pelayanan bagi korban kekerasan pada Perempuan dan Perlindungan Anak, Kementerian Negara Pemberdayaan Perempuan dan Perlindungan Anak (Kemeneg PP &PA) membentuk Pusat pelayanan Terpadu Pemberdayaan Perempuan dan Anak (P2TP2A). khusus Kota Bukittinggi. Pemberdayaan Perempuan dan Perlindungan Anak (P2TP2A) kota Bukittinggi adalah pusat kegiatan terpadu yang menyediakan pelayanan bagi perempuan dan anak korban kekerasan di Bukittinggi yang meliputi pelayanan informasi, konsultasi psikologis dan hukum, pendampingan dan advokasi serta pelayanan medis

Abstract

This article is a literature review on accessible three decades publicized studies about student motivation learning Arabic which was conducted in different countries and contexts. Due to the importance of Arabic in Islam as the sacred language, those research are expected to reveal the religious aspects in maintaining and shaping student motivation in learning Arabic. Unfortunately, the issue did not likely obtain adequate attention from most of the researchers. Interestingly though, review on that studies still managed to reveal that the researchers apparently mentioned the role of identity in their studies. However, it was not supported by the proper analysis which made only little can be recognized from the role of religious identity in shaping the motivation. This circumstance likely has taken place since most of the researchers did not use the poststructuralist approach which may bring them to reveal a deeper understanding of the role of identity in Arabic language learning. Furthermore, in order to obtain the more precise finding on the role of identity in maintaining student motivation, it is suggested to use the approach when addressing student motivation during Arabic learning process. Artikel ini adalah sebuah literatur review terhadap penelitian-penelitian tentang motivasi belajar Bahasa Arab sekitar 3 dekade belakangan yang dilakukan pada beberapa negara dengan konteks yang berbeda-beda. Peran Bahasa Arab sebagai bahasa yang penting dalam Islam, seharusnya mengantarkan penelitian yang ada mengungkap adanya aspek-aspek religiustitas dalam pembentukan motivasi belajar. Sayangnya, hal ini tidak mendapatkan perhatian yang cukup dari sebagian besar peneliti. Menariknya kendatipun hal tersebut terjadi, yaitu tidak tertangkapnya aspek religiusitas secara memadai, review terhadap hasil-hasil penelitian tersebut menunjukkan peran identitas religius para siswa tetap terlihat. Hanya saja hal tersebut tidak didukung oleh analisis yang memadai sehingga tidak banyak wawasan yang dapat diperoleh sekaitan dengan peran identitas religius tersebut. Hal ini terjadi karena kebanyakan peneliti tidak menggunakan pendekatan yang memungkinkan mereka mengeksplorasi peran identitas religius siswa dalam pembentukan motivasi belajar secara lebih mendalam, yaitu pendekatan post-structuralist. Dengan demikian, untuk memperoleh temuan yang lebih presisi, studi selanjutnya disarankan untuk menggunakan pendekatan post-structuralist untuk memahami peran identitas religius dalam pembentukan motivasi belajar Bahasa Arab
