Abstract

Multicolinierity between variable predictor in multiple regression is assuming violation  for ordinary least square estimator (OLS). Ridge Regression (RR) and Partial Least Square Regression (PLSR were used to handle the multicolinierity problem. RR modify OLS by adding subjective bias consatant, while PLSR, generalize and combine Principal Component Analisis and multiple regression. The efficiency of these two methods will be compared based on the value of RMSE. This study simulated generating data in different level of multicolinearity, the number of variabel, and number of observation were controlled. This study results that, overall, both method equally efficient.

Abstract

Income inequality is one of economic development indicators. As a kind of inequality indicators which is commonly used in Indonesia, gini coefficient is published as a point estimation. This estimation are lacking in its function as an estimator because it doesn’t considerate the probability accuration of the estimate value.Thus, the confidence interval estimation is needed as a comprehensive estimator. The objective of this study is estimate the standard errors and confidence intervals Gini coefficients with the bootstrap method. This study used National Social Economics Household Survey for West Papua Province in 2013. The Gini coefficient that used is a bias-corrected gini coefficient as consideration the bias in the calculation. The standard error of bias-corrected gini coefficient in West Papua is carried out of two data, which are the original sample and resample nonparametric bootstrap method. This research found out that bootstrap-t confidence interval confidence interval is the best confidence interval since it has the smallest standard error and shortest interval.

Abstract

Gold is supposed to be one of the promising investment instruments because it has good characteristics as a means for investment diversification (O'Byrne and O'Brien (2013)). However, during post-global crisis, especially in 2009,  Indonesian gold investment was lower than before. This study aims to identify  the classification of Indonesian gold in terms of its strength and its role in the domestic and foreign stock market as well as the US Dollar market, in both normal condition and bullish and bearish conditions in 2008-2015. This study uses the ARDL model in its analysis of hedge and safe haven of Indonesian gold. It indicates that the Indonesian gold, in general, act as a weak hedge asset in the international stock market, a strong hedge asset in the US Dollar market, a strong safe haven asset in the domestic and international stock market and a weak safe haven in the US Dollar market.

Abstract

Smoothing is commonly used methods to predict time series data. There are many applications that help in the processing of time series data that provide smoothing function such as EViews, Minitab, Zaitun TS, and R. However, these applications have some shortcomings such as the difficulty in comparing several methods. In this study, we build an open source application that provides more complete smoothing method and a facility for comparing several methods, namely smoothing module in DELTA application. Based on the tests, it can be proved that this application is suitable for users and the displayed output is consistent with the theory.

Abstract

Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) is still a crucial problem in Indonesia considering the incidence rate is still high enough that is about 359 per 100,000 births. The biggest cause of MMR in Indonesia is due to the high incidence of birth complications. This papers aims to determine the factors that affect the incidence of birth complications in women of childbearing age in Indonesia by using regression of logistic biner multilevel analysis. The data used are sourced from Indonesia Demographic and Health Survey 2012 (SDKI-2012). Based on the results of data processing, it is known that variables of parity, pregnancy complications, history of previous complications and ratio of health centers per 100,000 population are significantly affect the incidence of birth complications in women of childbearing age in Indonesia

Abstract

The characteristics of different provinces led to the use of different technologies among wetland rice farming in Java. Such differences lead to the technologthat resulted in incomparable frontier size among provinces. This study analysed the factors affected on the production, efficiency and how the technological gap in wetland rice farming. Meta-frontier analysis is applied in this article to prove that the measure of the technical efficiency level in four Java Island provinces can not be compared among each other. All variable coefficients production function as expected is positive and significant. This study also shows that the utilization of technical efficiency (TE) were measured based on their respective frontier province could lead to biased and misleading policy decisions, so it needs to be given special notes in its analysis.
