Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop evaluation tools in the form of learning about science literacy based biology subjects for class X semester 1. The type of this research is research and development, with a preparatory study design, prototype, one to one, small group and field tests. Small scale pilot study subjects were 20 students of SMAN 1 Bukit Sundi, and wide-scale trials were 64 students of SMAN 1 Gunung Talang. Product-based research is a matter of scientific literacy that includes three indicators of votes with four component aspects that owned the aspect of the context, content, processes and attitudes. The results of scientific literacy progression based this matter indicates that the matter developed valid, reliable and high level of practicality. This is demonstrated by the average validity showed extremely valid criteria. The effectivity of instruments is indicated by the student's ability to answer questions on indicators 2 and 3 which is a matter that demands high reasoning. Practicality instruments indicated by the positive response by teachers and students.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to result and show the validity and practicality of biology module about coordination system material based on metacognition with concept map for students in Senior High School. Type of research is research and development. This research applies 3 steps from 4D model, that are define, design, and develop. The subject of this research are 5 experts as validator, 3 teachers, and 49 students classes XI of SMAN 2 Padang. Data gained is categorized into primary data, as it is collected from validity and practicality questionnaire which is directly filled by research subjects. The data was analyzed descriptively. The result of validity is 88,5% in criteria valid, practicality by teachers is 90,4% in criteria very practice, and practicality by students is 85,8% in criteria practice. It can be concluded that the Biology Module on coordination system material based on metacognition with concept map for students in Senior High School is valid and practical.

Abstract

The purposes of this research are to result and show the validity and practicality of biology module based on concept with example on cell material for Senior High School students. This research used 3 steps from AP3 Models those are problem and necessary analize, design, and develop. The subjects of this research were 5 validators, 2 teachers, and 20 students class XI from MAN 3 Padang. Data in this research was primary data collected from validity and practicality questionnaire. The result of validity was 86,31% in criteria valid, practicality by teachers was 87,50% in criteria practice, and practicality by students was 87,59% in criteria practice.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the results of student books based on inquiry validation for class VIII Junior High School. Validation was done by 6 validators consisting of three lecturer and three teachers. Data obtained from the questionnaire validation. The questionnaire results were analyzed with descriptive analysis. The analysis showed that the average student book based inquiry validation results were 91.51 with very valid criteria. It can be concluded that the students books based on inquiry can be used to science teaching for students of class VIII Junior High School.

Abstract

This research purpose to comparestudents’biology learning achievement that used cooperative learning model Numbered Head Together with the other class that usedTalking Stickinclass XI at SMA PembangunanLaboratoriumUniversitasNegeri Padang. This research was based on the problem in this school that still dominated by teacher centered learning and low interest and activityof students in learning, those make the students bored in the classroom. This research was quasi-experimental research which used the static group comparison designthat modified, because in this research didnot used any control class. Sample of this research was choosen by saturation sampling. Result showed thatstudents’ biology learning achievementusing Numbered Head Togetherhas significant difference with using Talking Stick learning model.

Abstract

Biology learning quality must be supported by practicum in the laboratory. Practicum will done well if all of the component on it standarized as stated in minimum standar of practicum at school. The components are laboratory and its administrator, teacher, learning process, and learning material that used. This research aim to analyze Biology practicum process in SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta based on Biology practicum processing standar at school. This research conducted in class XI SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta at second semester year 2015/2016. This research used expositori research design with qualitative approach. The data consist of laboratory condition, laboratory administratif, students worksheet, and practicum process based on observation, documentation, and interview. The result showed that: (1) biology laboratory of SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta in the good criteria (score: 80); (2) SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta do not have special laboratory administrator (laborant and laboratory technician); (3) students of SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta used students worksheet to work at laboratory; and (4) practical feasibility of class XI SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta in year 2015/2016 in the very good criteria (score: 92).

Abstract

Curriculum occupies a central position in education. Curriculum changes guided by the times and technology. The main problems of implementation of curriculum change is to change the mindset of teachers. Prospective teachers should have high order thinking skills to face the times and technology. One of efforts could be made a lecturer for conditioning of learning to be able to develop higher order thinking skills of students by using the right assessment. One assessment that play a role in increasing the skills of thinking is portfolio assessment. This study aims to describe the increase in high order thinking skills of students applying portfolio assessment. This research is a classroom action research conducted on students who take courses in curriculum and biology textbook in biology Faculty UNP in the July to December semester of 2017. The results showed an increase in high order thinking skills of students using portfolio assessment.

Abstract

Biology Department Universitas Negeri Padang students’ creative thinking competence in evolution was low. This fact assumed can be solved using RQA strategy and Molecular Evolution learning book that have developed. This research conducted to know the effect of using RQA strategy and learning book to students’ concept understanding compared with the other class that used conventional method. The samples were 46 students. Data was posttest score in evolution used creative thinking instrument that have been validated by expert and analyzed used t-test. The result showed value 0,313>0,05; it concluded that there were no significant different of students’ creative thinking competence between students at experiment class and control.

Abstract

Evolution is one of biology material that learn in senior high school. Many differences on understanding evolution theory give effect this material cannot be taught optimally. The main factor that cause it is religiousity and the low of teachers’ background knowledge. This research conducted to analyze biology preservice teacher about evolutionary learning at senior high school. This descriptive research did at Biology Education Study Program, Universitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta on August 2016 until January 2017. Population were students of Biology Education Study Program Universitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta on semester five in academic year 2015/2016 that took evolutionary course in two parallel class with total 47 students. Sampling used total sampling. Data was the result of students’ last paper analysis. The result showed that 100% students said that evolution material is needed and important to teach for senior high school students; with various reason. For the method of teaching evolution, 75% students suggest that evolution should be teach by some interesting methods. Furthermore, students (±20%) also gave opinion that evolution can be taught by using prehistoric site, such as Sangiran and Trinil to give direct experience to them.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to develop a module of spiritual nuance in the form of comic strips on reproduction material for students of class XI SMA / MA valid and practical. This research uses 3 of 4 stages 4D models that is define, design and develop. The developed product will be validated by 3 validators including 2 lecturers of biology and 1 biology teacher of SMAN 4 Padang, while for practicality will be done by 32 students of SMAN 4 Padang. The data of this study include the primary data obtained from the questionnaire filled directly by the subject of research. Based on the results of the study obtained the validity of 91.30% with very valid criteria, practicality by teachers 86.68% practical criteria and practicality by students 88.56% with practical criteria.
