Al Mishbah Jurnal Ilmu Dakwah dan Komunikasi is an academic peer-reviewed journal that publishes the latest issues in the field of dawah and communication, including areas of dawah discourse, such as Islamic counseling and the development of Islamic societies. Since 2012, the journal has been published regularly twice in one year June and December. The primary audience of Al Mishbah Jurnal Ilmu Dakwah dan Komunikasi is academics, students, practitioners, and those who have an interest in the field of dawah and communication.

Abstract

Globalization flow getting stronger forces each individual to adjust to social life, especially in urban areas. In general, urban communities have begun to classify themselves into communities, both cultural and structural, both small and large communities. One of the communities that was born was a marginal community. This community has a very unique character and orientation and is rarely touched by preaching. Starting from here, this research aims to formulate Islamic preaching method that is suitable for the marginalized communities in Indonesian society. The research method used is qualitative research. In fact, qualitative research does not have a standard measure, the framework that is built can still be reconstructed and adapted to the objective conditions in the field. The approach used is phenomenology. This approach allows researchers to describe experiences as best as possible, understand and apply fairly to phenomena as they appear and are felt by experiences. The conclusion of this research is that the Islamic preaching method that is considered suitable for marginalized communities is da'wah bil hal, study centers, open houses, mentoring and advocacy, economic empowerment, educational scholarships, distribution of Zakat Infaq Sodaqoh (ZIS), library parks, health packages, compensation social and educational skills work.

Abstract

This paper discusses Pesantren Miftahul Huda and factors that cause this salafi pesantren chose to maintain its salafiyyah in this modern era. This research used qualitative approach with a method of case study. The result of this research shows that the factors that make the salafi pesantren Miftahul Huda exists in this modern era are: first, the belief in the teachings of Islam spread by Walisongo (Nine Saints) that the first Islamic education in the land of Java is a salafi pesantren; Second, the mandate of the ancestors of who had pioneered the pesantren the salafi pesantren must exist until the end of time; Thirdly, Pesantren Miftahul Huda as salafi pesantren which was first established in Tasikmalaya in 1967 has a good management in establishing the strategy of developing salafi pesantren.

Abstract

One component of Islamic da?wah is the content that is essential for the effective implementation of da?wah. Without content, it is impossibe for da?wah to be carried out effectively, and the goal will not be achieved. God gives a reference for the Muslim preacher to make the Qur'an as a source of da?wah materials, since in the Qur'an  there are a  variety of science,  stories  (qasas)  of the prophets and their people, ashab al-kahf, and so forth. All of this can be used as da?wah materials. Moreover, the Qur'an compiled the stories in certain categories, so it is so easily to take advantage, advice and values from it that can shape the quality of faith and piety.

Abstract

This paper examines the new Islamic promoter Hanan Attaki who can spread his Islamism through various media, especially in his Youtube account. This paper aims to describe the spread of popular Islamism as a defense to self fortify from western popular culture, and this distribution is greatly facilitated by democracy. This article becomes essential because it shows the spread of Islamism in Indonesia that characterized by motivation and self-development, so that be able to entertain and embrace the youth. The spread of Islamism shows that religion does not want to be placed in private space, but also public space. At the end of this session, it was concluded that the spread of popular Islamism among young people aims to form the justification of the ideal type of Muslim youth today.

Abstract

The study used two paradigm to understand and respond to changes leading to modernism especiallu in the West. The first is historical paradigm, while the second is socio-cultural paradigms. Based on these, western modernism has tremedous impacts on different spheres of life. The example includes such attitudes as establishment, arrogance, and materialism. Modernism involves capitalism in the process of industrial development and results in urbanization and mass mobilization to the cities. Modernism in the West is also able to change the social order and Islamic values that has been built up in world civilization in the East and West.

Abstract

This paper deals with accessibility of social media among Islamic Broadcasting Students of IAIN Palu. The question is how do students use social media to get information of Islamic preaching. The result showed that the students said that social media is highly beneficial for the development of preaching and knowledge need by the students. The reasons behind choosing social media are the easiness and quickness of access to it and time-saving. Meanwhile, social media to which students are enthusiastic include Facebook, WhatsApp, mailing list, blog, and so on. Facebook and Whatsapp are effective enough to establish relationship to others and get access to contents of Islamic preaching, while blog is used to explore information about Islam. In seeking information of Islam, Islamic Broadcasting (KPI) students used Google to carry out their task given by their lecturers and to improve their knowledge.

Abstract

Bela International Hotel is the only five-star hotel in Ternate where in deal with competition between hotels, it is necessary to provide specific and innovative facilities and services to be superior to its competitors. Competitive competition in the hospitality world at this time encourages every hotel to create a promotional program offered to hotel guests. Thus, the function and role of strategic marketing communication is needed so that positive information about the hotel can be received by the public so that in the end the community makes the hotel as a choice. Marketing communication activities carried out by paying attention to two aspects namely; internal and external marketing communication. With the concept of integrated marketing communication, it is not enough to depend on just one material, so that Bela International Hotel combines the concept of marketing with customer relations and maintenance services.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis personal branding dari Pasangan Desain, Denny Palar dan Iksan Hi. Husain, Calon Bupati dan Wakil Bupati Halmahera Barat melalui Instagram. Teori dramaturgi Erving Goffman digunakan untuk melihat personal branding melalui panggung depan dan panggung belakang Denny Palar dan Iksan Hi. Husain. Melalui wawancara dan observasi terhadap akun Instagram @desainhalbar, diketahui bahwa panggung depan Pasangan Desain memiliki karakteristik pemuda yang ramah, berpenampilan dan berperilaku religius serta populis (merakyat). Sementara panggung belakang Pasangan Desain memiliki karakteristik sebagai wirausahawan muda yang toleran dan berpenampilan semi-formal. Adanya perbedaan antara panggung depan dan panggung belakang membuat Pasangan Desain membutuhkan upaya ekstra untuk melakukan personal branding yang diklasifikasikan sebagai personal branding yang instan.

Abstract

Tulisan ini berfokus pada adopsi dan pemanfaatan Internet untuk keperluan dakwah. Kehadiran Internet dan berbagai platform pendukung telah memungkinkan dakwah dilakukan secara lebih menarik dan interaktif. Namun saat ini sangat sedikit da?i yang telah berdakwah secara online. Fakta terbaru menunjukkan bahwa lebih dari 71 juta atau sekitar 28 persen penduduk Indonesia sudah memanfaatkan Internet dalam kehidupan mereka sehari- hari. Karena manyoritas dari penduduk Indonesia adalah muslim, maka sebagian besar dari pengguna Internet itu adalah masyarakat Muslim. Ini berarti lahan yang sangat potensial bagi para dai untuk berdakwah secara online. Untuk itu tulisan ini membahas mengapa para da?i sudah saatnya perlu berdakwah secara online. Beberapa alasan dikemukakan dalam tulisan ini yang antara lain; tingginya pengguna Internet di kalangan mansyarakat Muslim, luasnya jangkuan dakwah online, menambah jumlah pendengar, dan materi dakwah bisa tersimpan lama di situs situs online. Untuk itu tulisan ini menyarankan para da?i untuk menambah pengetahuan dan ketrampilan terkait teknologi informasi guna mendukung mereka berdakwah secara online. Tulisan ini adalah berupa kajian pustaka, tapi kajiannya diharapkan memberi ide tentang pentingnya para dai berdakwah secara online. Ke depan dibutuhkan kajian empiris agar argumen terkait pentingnya para dai berdakwah secara online.

Abstract

This paper explores the acculturation of Islam with local culture in the Gayo highlands, district of Central Aceh. The study focused on both the process of acculturation of Islam and local culture in the ceremonies of birth, marriage and death. In this process, Gayonization of Islam is dominant in comparison to Islamization of Gayo?s culture. In Gayonization of Islam, the terms, actions, and equipments used in the ritual is a purely Gayo?s culture, but Islamic values and teachings are inserted in it. The acculturation process occurred in four stages such as accomodating islamic preaching, identification, Gayonization, and implementation. Furthermore, the acculturation of Islam with Gayo?s culture in and the ceremonies of birth, marriage, and death, can be grouped in three forms: 1) the acculturation of Islamic values with customary objects, in which the objects are ascribed as symbols of Islamic values; 2) the acculturation of Islamic values with the traditions, in which customary practice are attributed as a symbol of Islamic values; and 3) the acculturation of Islam with customary practice, in which customary practice is based on Islamic teachings. At the first and second forms, it can be said that there is  a shift from a custom-based meaning to Islam-based meaning (substitution of meaning). While at the third form, occurred the infusion of Islamic values to traditional ritual (addition to the rites).
