Abstract

In this study aims to: (1) produce English learning multimedia products for recount text material, (2) find out the feasibility of English learning multimedia products for recount text material, and (3) find out the effectiveness of English learning multimedia multimedia products for recount text material for class VIII students at SMPNJ. This research method is a research and development (R&D) taken from the Alessi and Trollip model which consists of three stages, namely: (1) planning, (2) design, and (3) development. Data collection through observation, interviews, questionnaire sheets, and tests. Then, the data obtained were analyzed descriptively quantitatively. The effectiveness of the product was analyzed using the N-gain formula (normalized learning outcomes). The results of the study are as follows. (1) the products produced are multimedia in the form of English learning CDs for recount text material consisting of instructions, Competency Standards and Basic Competencies (SK and KD), description of material, summary, quiz, and evaluation; (2) the product developed is suitable for use as a complementary medium for learning English for recount text learning; (3) an increase in the average score of all students from the pretest and posttest results of 0.90 (N-gain ? 0.7). This means that the effectiveness of the product being developed is in the high category

Abstract

Pronunciation in daily communication has the main role. Pronunciation is studied by repeating word sounds and correcting them. Some students are ignorant of pronunciation?s function.  This research was desiderated to analyze error pronunciation in spelling words by three classes of MA Plus Al-Mashduqiah students (10th grade-12th grade) Patokan. The error pronunciation occurred as the usual sense in pronouncing the words that not only happen in 10th grade but also in 11th and 12th grade. In order to get data, the participants were given word lists that contained several words and then ordered to pronounce them one by one. These words chose to suspect the common mistakes pronounced by participants. For instance, the word ?flood? is pronounced the same as the word ?door?, the word ?examine? is pronounced the same as ?mine?. Then, an in-depth investigation was used to find out the learners? consideration pronouncing the words. The result discovered that the learners tended to pronounce the words that referred to other words that contained the same orthography. Using cross-section design, this research randomly selected 60 students. This research found that there were significant gradations among the groups. The amount of error pronunciation was in line with the level of those three groups. The highest error found in 10th grade as new students in that school.

Abstract

Due to the research by Greenpeace and Air Visual IQ published on March 5 2019, monitored air quality in hundreds of cities across the globe, Jakarta was ranked first. In accordance with educational character based on Indonesian curriculum about 18 standard characters interpreted, and one of them was environmental care. The problem was the way a teacher to blend those characters into a good educational system in the class. In fact there were no definite process to transfer that character to the student in term of plan, proses, content, and evaluation. It proofed that there were many difficulties by the teacher to conduct evaluation to the student about their character because the teacher only focuses on a cognitive area. So that?s why this research try to transform the area of ecology and education to solve those conditions. Due to the condition, the researcher tends to strengthen the educational method on the field of Ecology with Literary Criticism as the media with the title The Implementation of Ecocriticism Approach for Healthy Earth and strengthen the English skill of Literary Appreciation Class at Islamic University of Majapahit ? Mojokerto.

Abstract

Reading English is an important skill that students need to learn. The teaching of reading in secondary school will help student to get a purpose for reading, focus on what they are learning, think actively as they read, monitor their comprehension, and review content and relate what they have learned to what they already know. In order to apply the strategies effectively in new instructional settings, teachers must have a clear understanding of the reading comprehension process and the natural reading strategies that commonly applied by our students. By knowing this, they can select and demonstrate appropriate reading strategies that their students need in reading the text.

Abstract

Learning a new language is considered as difficult task because it needs more exercises in various skills. Media plays the important role in increasing the learners? desire to learn by creating the atmosphere of fun. In this digital era, learning models utilize technology as leaning media to provide wider access and opportunities for students in building their own knowledge. The availability of technology in education enables educators to plan and implement innovative and interactive learning model.  The main goal of this paper is to suggest the current media for teaching and learning language in digital era.

Abstract

This research aimed to investigate the use of teaching vocabulary using Scrabble Game on the students? achievement. The method applied in this research is Pre-experimental research. Pre-experimental research use three group Pre-test and Post-test. The sample of this research is the first-grade students of SMP Negeri 1 sungai Raya Kepulauan.The experimental group was given a pre-test consisted 20 items of test (that was initially tried out before at the same class). After the Pre-test was done, it was continued with three times of treatments where the researcher used 20 words as the screabble material, antonym and synonym words. After the treatments were given, a Post-test with the same test items was administered. The result of Pre-test and Post-test were calculated and compared to determine significant increase by using the matched t-test formula. The research finding the t observed value is 3.66 indicated that the treatments have an effect on performance. Since the value of the observed t value is 3.66 exceeds the t critical value of 2.262 at the intersection of 9 df and .05, it shows that the students? scores differ significantly from Pre-test to Post-test. This research shows that teaching vocabulary using scrabble game increases the students? achievement onvocabulary. Scrabble game is basically suggested and considered good and appropriate as technique at teaching vocabulary.
