PASCA is a journal published periodically by the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of the Indonesian Baptist Theological Institute (STBI) Semarang. Published regularly twice in one year, in May and November. This journal holds scientific work and research results in theological studies and Christian religious education with the scope of: Theology Old and New Testament Studies, Missiology and Contextualization, Religious Studies, Christian Education. Only manuscripts that are deemed worthy of publication will be published. The eligibility of the paper follows the guidelines and provisions contained in the Author Guidelines.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the importance of Christian education to form the spirituality of the millennial generation. Presented using a qualitative-descriptive approach with the support of literature studies. The conclusion is the Christian education is a vital tool that can shape the spirituality of the millennial generation. The Christian education style praises this goal is the relationship of friendship and love for others in the learning process by families, churches, and schools.

Abstract

School epistemological belief is essential as it directly influences the goal and center of education. Following this logic, Christian education ideally aims to guide students to the knowledge of God as Christian epistemology believes that God is the source of knowledge. However, in teaching and learning practices, Christian teachers may be unaware of the world’s modern philosophy and thus unconsciously adopt the practices from the modern educational approach. As a result, the goal of Christian education can be shifted from God-centered to student-centered learning within progressive educational practice. Misleading knowledge and truth may bring schools away from the responsibility to fulfill God’s will in education. Thus, it is necessary for Christian teachers to guide students throughout the learning process to see God as the source of knowledge. This paper aims to critically discuss the Christian teachers’ role as a guide regarding students’ freedom in learning. To this end, this study employs a literature review method. The study concludes that Christian teachers can exercise the God-given authority to guide students in using their intellectual and free-will to serve God and others.

Abstract

This book is Andreas A. Yewangoe's doctoral dissertation while studying at Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Its contents present a portrait of poverty in Asia, which was experiencing colonization by Western nations and Japan. In this book, Yewangoe focuses on the problem of poverty, specifically in Indonesia. The West knows the Asian continent as a religious continent because it contains a diversity of religions. However, most of the population is in the poverty line. This fact prompted Yewangoe to ask several critical questions, which were the subject of analysis in his dissertation. Why is it that a religious country has a substantial population of poor people? Does religion legitimize suffering due to poverty suffering? For what purpose is suffering due to poverty? Yewangoe, in his book, uses several analytical perspectives, including: historical, social, political, economic, and cultural. Thus, through this book, he will answer these questions completely.

Abstract

Dimensi spiritual menjadi bagian dari tujuan pendidikan nasional. Sedangkan guru dipahami sebagai pendidik profesional dengan tugas utama melaksanakan sistem dan tujuan pendidikan nasional.  Namun masa pandemi Covid-19  memaksa perubahan pola pembelajaran yang membutuhkan model pembelajaran yang sesuai.  Tulisan   dengan metode riset kepustakaan ini bertujuan membahas makna spiritualitas dan memberikan alternatif model pembelajaran bagi upaya   mengembangkan  spiritualitas anak di masa pandemi.  Pembelajaran kontekstual menjadi model yang patut dipertimbangkan para guru, sebab model ini berfokus pada keunikan anak dan situasi yang dihadapinya.

Abstract

Psalm 13 is a repetition which ends by moving to serenity as part of God's help. The method used is qualitative with a hermeneutic approach, especially poetry Genre. This study aims to explain a repetition of the psalmist as an emphasis on supplication to God which has an impact on theological values. This article finds the psalmist's complaint three times repeated; first, the expression of the psalmist's long-suffering despair, the second the psalmist sincerely hoped for deliverance from God which could soon be realized. Then there is a repetition of the salvation of God Himself, who saves from the world of death, illuminates the eyes (verse 3), and the third does good things (v. 5b).

Abstract

Buku ini memberikan gambaran terkini dan penanganan pastoral mengenai isu krisis identitas gender atau gender dysphoria yang semakin melebar secara kategorial. Gender dysphoria dapat diartikan sebagai konflik identitas yang berkaitan dengan ketidaksesuaian ciri-ciri biologis seseorang dengan identitas gendernya. Para penulis mendekati perluasan identitas gender di tengah kaum muda Amerika Serikat -maupun belahan dunia lain- melalui pendekatan sosiologis dan psikologis secara deskriptif-analitis. Isu perluasan identitas gender atau emerging gender identities harus dipahami lebih dari sekadar masalah biologis, melainkan permasalahan multipleks yang saling memengaruhi. Yarhouse dan Sadusky memberikan pembaca Kristen perspektif yang utuh mengenai pro dan kontra isu perluasan identitas gender dalam bagian pertama serta menyajikan kepada para pelayan maupun orang tua pendekatan terbaik dalam menghadapi isu ini dari kacamata teolog Injili dalam bagian kedua.

Abstract

Akibat pandemi Covid-19, timbul masalah-masalah pembelajaran yang berkaitan dengan penggunaan teknologi untuk pembelajaran, hingga beragam dampak dan kesulitan pembelajaran. Untuk maksud tersebut, dilakukan analisis terhadap hasil-hasil kajian tentang permasalahan pembelajaran saat pandemi, maupun tentang proses menghasilkan kreativitas. Ditemukan adanya masalah pembelajaran yang berkaitan dengan keberadaan teknologi dalam pembelajaran, kesiapan pelaku pembelajaran, komunikasi pembelajaran, serta  tentang pengelolaan kelas. Masalah-masalah dalam pembelajaran harus dipecahkan dengan kreativitas. Melaluinya guru akan menghasilkan ide-ide solutif yang berpotensi efektif mengatasi masalah dalam pembelajaran.

Abstract

Fokus tulisan ini adalah Memperkenalkan Kerajaan Allah untuk Konteks Suku Jawa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperkenalkan Kerajaan Allah dengan menggunakan point of contact yang sesuai dengan alam pikir Suku Jawa sehingga mereka menerima dan percaya kepada konsep Kerajaan Allah yang alkitabiah. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi literatur. Melalui penelitian ini penulis menemukan point of contact berupa pandangan hidup Suku Jawa yaitu “mangayu hayuning bawana” dan pengharapan “Kehadiran Ratu Adil” sebagai cara untuk memperkenalkan Kerajaan Allah untuk Konteks Suku Jawa.

Abstract

The substance of the Bible verse can be understood by analyzing it until it finds the eternal and universal principle of a verse. The interpretation of Bible verses is only on finding the meaning of the past and present context, causing problems in terms of substance. Through a descriptive study, this paper explains a principle of biblical interpretation using a redemptive historical approach. The results of this study explain that there are many Bible verses that have a continuous meaning in the present and future context, and there is a change in form in the relevance of these verses. So that, through the historical redemptive approach, the interpreters can find the substance of the Bible verses that will be able to be universally and eternally relevant.
