Abstract

The purpose of this activity is how to grow the entrepreneurial spirit of students in the 5th Vocational High School (SMKN) Kendari through training in the utilization of cassava peel waste into cassava peel chips. The implementation of this activity is carried out in 3 stages: (1) socialization; (2) providing material on entrepreneurship motivation, the process of utilizing cassava peel waste into cassava peel chips, and how to design packaging labels by utilizing ICT; and (3) training through direct practice. Theorizing activities are carried out by lecturing and interactive discussion methods, while the cassava skin waste processing training is carried out by the demonstration method. Based on the results of activities with partners showed significant progress: (a) students' understanding and interest in entrepreneurship increased by 80%, (b) students' understanding and knowledge of cassava peel chips increased by 90%, and (c) students' understanding of how to design packaging labels with the use of ICT increased by 85%.

Abstract

The use of instructional media is expected to help students learn mathematical concepts in a meaningful way, which can link concepts in mathematics and apply them in solving problems of daily life. The learning media used must discuss mathematics contextually. It means in accordance with the problems that exist in students' daily lives. Therefore this study aims to develop learning media with e-book models of Novelmatika on statistical material. The use of the term Novelmatika is intended so that when students read this e-book it is like reading a novel that is fun and not burdened like reading a textbook. This research is a development research. The design of this study uses the ADDIE (Analysis-Design-Development-Implementation-Evaluation) model. This research has been carried out to the Evaluation stage, namely by conducting pretest-posttest before and after the use of the Novelmatika e-book. The mean pretest value was 52.30%, while the average posttest value was 79.46%. This means an increase in understanding of statistical concepts in students by 27.16%.

Abstract

Mega Sigra learning media is a learning media that was developed for the purpose to supporting the achievement of learning objectives on eclipse material, Natural Science subjects for Grade VI Elementary Schools. Mega Sigra development through four phases (4D), they are: define phase, design phase, develop phase and disseminate phase. The difference and uniqueness of Mega Sigra compared to the eclipse simulation media that existed previously, namely the globe and the moon can rotate and evolve automatically due to being driven by a wall clock. In addition, it is also equipped with a camera that can record images and video simulations of solar and lunar eclipses. Images and videos can be printed or watched through a display on a computer screen. The overall validity test results were 87.5%, indicating that Mega Sigra was very valid for use. The practicality of the observer test results of 78.91% shows that Mega Sigra is practically used, while the practicality test through student responses of 92.50% shows that Mega Sigra is very practical to use. In the effectiveness test, Mega Sigra showed very effective results of its use. This is based on the average value of learning outcomes achieved by students in posttest activities, reaching a value of 83.7. This value is much increased from the pretest value which only reached 37.5. It also far exceeds the expected KKM of 70.00. Posttest scores also greatly increased from the average learning outcomes obtained by class IV students in 206 at 63.5 and in 2017 at 67.5, on the same learning material..

Abstract

The high level of vulnerability of natural disasters in Indonesia needs to be accompanied by increasing disaster preparedness education in schools. Ministerial Regulation No. 62 of 2014 concerning extracurricular activities provides opportunities in disaster preparedness education. Disaster response extracurricular activities can be selected extracurricular activities in schools that are attended by all students. Based on the results of the study, the role-playing method is right for natural-based learning. Therefore, natural disaster preparedness education in extracurricular activities uses the role-playing method. In the implementation of disaster preparedness education, it is necessary to have a Learning Implementation Plan (RPP) with the role-playing method. For example, RPP in educating preparedness against flood disasters as the most frequent disaster in Indonesia. Preparation of lesson plans is intended so that the objectives of disaster preparedness education can be achieved and education be directed, effective, and efficient.

Indonesian language learning includes listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. One of the skills that the class I students need to have is reading. Learning to read in the early grades must start from the basic stage, which is reading the beginning. The ability to read the beginning determines the success of further reading. Several studies have revealed that students' reading ability in Indonesia is low. The ability to read the beginning of students is directly influenced by the quality of learning. One of the efforts made by educators to improve the quality of beginning reading learning is the skill to choose and determine what learning devices will be used in the process of learning to begin with. The learning tool for reading the selected beginning should be fun, challenging, meaningful and motivating students to improve their reading skills The learning tool for beginning reading with the right method, will determine the quality of the learning process. A good quality learning process can improve students' reading skills. Steinberg's method is a method that is considered to be able to improve the quality of early reading learning.
