Abstract

Kampung Baru is one of the villages in Pekanbaru city that has the potential to develop large marine tourism. Its strategic location on the coast of Siak River and has a cultural reserve "RumahBatin" makes Kampung Baru as one of the new destinations of future historical tourism. The existence of Kampung Baru as a tourist destination is still not well exposed so there needs to be a touch of Science and improvement to accelerate its development. The purpose of this activity is to accelerate the development of marine tourism in Kampung Baru Village, Pekanbaru City. The method used is a survey method to identify activities and counseling methods to convey Science to the community. The stages of the implementation of the activity are divided into three stages of preparation, implementation and evaluation. The results of a quick survey conducted, to accelerate the development of marine tourism activities in Kampung Baru through the socialization of halal certificates, making and dividing trash cans, making and enforcing plank boards, planting trees and vegetable seedlings and cleaning inner houses. The implementation of the activity is doing well and on target this can be seen from the community and village officials in supporting this activity. With the integrated KUKERTA (Community Service), the neglected tourism potential of Kampung Baru can be reappointed as a marine tourism. This leads to the fact that the touch of Science through integrated KUKERTA (Community Service) is able to accelerate the development of marine tourism in Kampung Baru.

Abstract

Cassava is one of the foodstuffs whose role is quite important in supporting the food security of a region, but the diversification of food made from cassava still needs to be improved. Health responsibility in the implementation of food security is carried out by compiling reference standards and technical health requirements throughout the food chain process, the principles of Sanitation Hygiene. Sialang Sakti is one of the sub-districts in Tenayan Raya District and is one of the potential cassava producing villages to be developed. The purpose of the service activities included ordering farmer groups that focus on the environment which also functions as a promotion forum for the Healthy Living Movement. Activities carried out in the form of advocacy to related parties, Focus Group Discussion (FGD), ordering farmer groups, trainings, and other activities to support efforts to promote the healthy community movement. The result of the activity was the formation of farmer groups that focus on cassava and health promotion, increased knowledge and skills of cassava cultivation, and the presence of appropriate technology products, and partnership with related parties.

Abstract

Community service as one of the tasks in the Tri Dharma of Indonesian Higher Education has tried to help the Indonesian people in Frankfurt Germany to facilitate community empowerment efforts, especially women with the theme "Women Leadership". In Government Studies, it is known that the core of Government Studies is leadership, and the core of leadership is decision making. In Islamic values, ​​it is also known that everyone is a leader. Thus, women and leadership are two related words. The question is, how is the relationship? How is this relationship implemented in the Frankfurt Indonesian Muslim Community and in everyday life? It can be said that the active role of women in the Frankfurt Indonesian Mosque can be seen in real terms. Both men and women have learned Islam and applied Islamic values ​​together. This community service was divided into three stages. First, registration by email. Second, filling out the questionnaire and sending it via email. Third, a general lecture session on women leadership using the Indonesian language and continued with a question and answer session at the Frankfurt Indonesian Mosque. The implementation of the service has gone smoothly and was attractive to the participants. This can be seen from the third stage which was originally scheduled for about two hours to four hours. The participant's response was positive with intense interactive dialogue during the presentation of the material. This activities results pattern of leader personal characteristic from members. Hopefully, this is becoming a great capital to born a great women leader in the future

Abstract

Minyak jelantah (mijel) is known in Indonesia as waste cooking oil. Even though it is a waste, mijel is still used by consumers for savings. The problem is, if it is used repeatedly more than three times, mijel can cause health problems. In addition to health hazards, if discharged through water channels, it can cause environmental pollution. Lack of public knowledge about the dangers of using the mijel in the end will have a negative impact. To educate the public about the health-risks of using mijel, we held a short training for housewives in Kelurahan Tanjung Agung, Bandar Lampung on July 22, 2020. This training provided the targeted housewives with the knowledge and skills to process the waste cooking oil into laundry soap. The purpose of this activity was to educate and provide training to the community, especially PKK women who interact directly with the use of mijel, about the dangers of mijel and how to manage it. PKK women who participated in the training seemed interested and understood the explanation described, this can be seen from the increase in the average pretest score from 55.7 to 81.3 at posttest. The benefits obtained by the participants are: 1) Understanding that using mijel more than three times can cause health problems for consumers. 2) Processing of waste cooking oil to laundry soap can reduce pollution in the aquatic environment.3) Laundry soap made from waste cooking oil can be a source of family income.

Abstract

The purpose of this community service was to provide knowledge and understanding of halal certificates to the public, increase public awareness of the importance of halal certificates and motivate the community to have halal certificates for those who have businesses in the scope of halal products. The service method was carried out by socializing the role of the halal certificate, giving questionnaires to participants and evaluating the questionnaire. The parameters of public halal awareness are reviewed from general knowledge about halal law, public awareness about the implementation of halal products and knowledge about the role of halal certificates. The results showed that all participants had good general knowledge of halal law, had high level of awareness of the implementation of the use of halal products and all participants have good knowledge about the role and management of halal certificates. The results of direct discussions with participants explained that micro business actors do not have a halal certificate due to the lack of socialization regarding halal certificate management by the Government. It can be concluded that basic knowledge of halal law and high awareness of halal are not sufficient to guarantee the high desire of micro-entrepreneurs to apply for halal certificates.

Abstract

Noodles are a processed food product favored by most Indonesians, generally made from wheat which must be imported. Kepulauan Meranti Regency is the largest producer of sago in Indonesia. One of the products made from sago that is widely produced in Meranti is sa.go noodle. Making noodles with local raw materials such as sago and sweet potato is an effort to improve food security. Traditional sago noodle has high carbohydrate and fiber content but still has disadvantages such as not having inulin content as a prebiotic, less antioxidant and a less attractive color, while purple sweet potato contains inulin as prebiotic components, high antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.The utilization of prebiotics insago noodle has multiple advantages since they improved probiotic growth in the body, sensory features and provide a more well-balanced nutritional composition as functional food. This community service program aims to training on the process of making prebiotic sago noodles to the community in Alai Selatan Village.This activities are carried out by course and practice methods.The results showed that the participants were interested in making prebiotic sago noodles because they had a more attractive features, more nutritious and had a delicious taste. Prebiotic sago noodles can be used as an effort to biodiversify sago noodle products to support food security and improve the community's economy

Abstract

The aim of this activity is to Micro-Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) be able to compile Business Proposals and be able to analyze financial statements, so that the realization of MSMEs becomes an efficient, healthy and high-growth business, and able to become the people's economic strength and make a large contribution to national economic development. The method of this service activity is the direct survey method for MSMEs without gathering participants, this method was chosen by considering mutual security because it is still in Covid-19 pandemic. The stages of this service activity begin by explaining the obstacles that are often faced by MSMEs, then explaining the importance of business proposals, tips and tricks for preparing business proposals, and the importance of financial statements analyzing. Results achieved: has provided skills and knowledge to MSMEs, especially in Kampar regarding Business Proposals and Financial Statement Analysis even though in limited due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Bukit Tiga Puluh National Park is not only a place for wildlife but also a home for Talang Mamak tribe (a local and native tribe lives inside the National Park). Furthermore, to support Talang Mamak, an empowerment is critically needed. Meliponiculture is one form of empowerment activity provided by Thirty Hills National Park. There are many steps to do this empowerment activities, namely, conducting preliminary survey, forming groups for each sub villages, training, giving grant beekeeping equipments, assistance, detailing in marketing, and evaluating. Results showed that in the first year after training, honey production increased 85.5% in the third quarter compare to honey produced in the second quarter. Other groups, such as KTH Batu Berdiri and KTH JelemuBengayuan, also gave similar tendency. These results also revealed that the empowerment activity by doing meliponiculture had given positive contribution for Talang Mamak even though it`s production is still not much. Nevertheless, there are some obstacles when doing this meliponiculture. For instances, sometimes, Talang Mamak people is less focus when facing problems. Other problems are that they cannot determine their market target and there is no maintenance toward the stingless bees’ colonies.

Abstract

The ability to publish articles in scientific journals is among the parts of a teacher's professional competence. The problem is that many teachers have not mastered the skills to write scientific papers. As a result, many teachers find it difficult to advance in rank, especially for promotion after IV / a. This paper describes a community service activity sponsored by Universitas Riau lecturers which aims to help teachers improve their scientific writing skills. Community service activities were carried out at a school in Pekanbaru, Riau. This paper further explains the concept of the workshop, the content of workshop materials, and the workshop's effectiveness. This workshop lasted for two months with three face-to-face training. The rest was done online via the Google Classroom platform. The material content covers the basic principles of scientific writing, the steps for writing scientific journals, how to cite and make references, including how to automatically cite using reference manager applications such as Mendeley, and how to submit articles through the online journal OJS system. Data from the survey conducted at the end of the community service activity showed that, in general, this activity was running well and effectively. The majority of participants (72.7%) stated that their motivation to write increased after attending the training. Their knowledge of writing scientific articles have improved after training. Their ability in writing scientific journals is also relatively better than before following this structured workshop.

Abstract

This community empowerment activity in making hand sanitizers was carried out in the Nagari Persiapan Aia Manggih Utara, Kecamatan Lubuk Sikaping. WHO officially declared COVID-19 a pandemic due to the increasingly massive spread of COVID-19 in various countries. One of the efforts to avoid this virus is to maintain hand hygiene. Currently, many hand sanitizers are offered in the form of hand sanitizers because their use is more practical. Hand sanitizer is practical to use and can be carried anytime and anywhere. Generally, hand sanitzers are made using alcohol-based ingredients, but the use of alcohol on the skin is considered unsafe, besides that during the Covid-19 pandemic, hand sanitizers have become rare in the market. Therefore, one way to overcome this problem is to make a hand sanitizer made from natural ingredients from betel and lime leaves. The formulation of the problems that arise due to COVID-19 in the Nagari Persiapan Aia Manggih Utara, namely how to educate the public in making hand sanitizers made from natural ingredients, Techniques used in community empowerment related to the manufacture of hand sanitizers with natural ingredients are community participation, discussion and outreach. Based on the results of surveys and interviews conducted at the end of community service activities, 87% of the community understands how to make hand sanitizers made from natural ingredients, 95% of the community understands about COVID-19 and its symptoms of infection, 91% of the community understands efforts to prevent transmission of COVID-19, 88 % of people have understood the new normal policy (new normal habits), and 97% of people have experienced a decrease in income.
