Abstract

Dualism of Sedulur Sikep Images in Documentary Film: Analysis of “Samin vs Semen” and “Sikep Samin Semen” Film. “Samin vs Semen” and “Sikep Samin Semen” are documentary films that raised Orang Samin as the main character in the story. This article aims at looking at the depiction of sedulur sikep (Orang Samin) in two documentaries, so that the needs can be identified. The method used is the genre analysis method. Through genre analysis, construction or building art production can be concluded by the audience. The image of Sedulur Sikep in the film “Sikep Samin Semen” and “Samin vs Semen” are different. The existence of the dualism of the image of Sedulur Sikep shows that the documentary film which is considered to represent reality cannot show a single sound. As a communication medium, film still represents the voice of its maker so that it cannot be seen as absolute truth.

Abstract

This article discussed radio broadcasting technology in general and how the industry is relatively resilient amid the development of other media technologies today, such as the Internet. Internet technology is able to present number of social networks through social media that are interactive, direct, and user generated. In addition, the Internet forces conventional broadcasting industries such as radio to penetrate digital mechanisms by practicing radio streaming. Radio broadcasting also add this type of interaction to their listeners, for example through websites, blogs, vlogs (video blogs), Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, and Facebook accounts. This integrated conventional media technology and new media is often called media convergence. By using qualitative approach and descriptive method, this paper explained a case of media convergence by one of the radio broadcast station in Indonesia that is Delta FM. As a result, Delta FM presents its broadcasts with the help of new media in order to survive in the broadcasting industry amid the current widespread use of new media.Keywords: Radio broadcasting, technology, new media, media convergence

Abstract

Cosplay telah menjadi budaya populer yang melekat dalam kehidupan masyarakat Indonesia, khususnya bagi kalangan muda. Politik identitas yang muncul di sini memiliki keterkaitan dengan isu gender di masyarakat. Hal ini juga semakin diperluas dengan hadirnya Youtube dan Instagram untuk menunjukkan eksistensi dirinya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Peneliti mengambil sampel berupa empat video dari Youtube serta postingan dari Instagram guna memperkuat pembahasan tentang fenomena crossdresser. Hasil dari penelitian ini melihat bahwa meski seorang individu telah melakukan crossdresser, mereka tidak seutuhnya berperan sebagai perempuan. Mereka masih menunjukkan dirinya sebagai laki-laki, terutama ketika menampilkan dirinya di Youtube. Selain itu, ketika secara pribadi menampilkan dirinya di Instagram, seorang cosplayer lebih dapat mengekspresikan dirinya dengan leluasa.

Abstract

Deconstruction of Political Communication on E-Commerce Services (The Perspective of Fairclough’s Critical Discourse Analysis). This research is motivated by crime issues that have developed into various social crimes, such as cyber crime, psychological crime, economic crime, and political crime. In the digital era, the crime of political communication is new because this form of crime is sublimated in e-commerce which tends to appeal to all E-Commerces. Critical discourse analysis offers a critical perspective in addressing the latest phenomena facing humans in the E-Commerce. Specifically, the phenomenon of technology whose development is increasingly fast and uncontrollable. The purpose of this study is to reveal various forms of political communication crime through critical discourse analysis. The method used in this research is the library method. The results showed that the crime of political communication in the E-Commerce occurred through the medium of the Digital Market as a medium of political communication.

Abstract

The Study of Search Engine Optimization on Website as A Marketing Strategy on the Internet. The Internet usages have been growing. The marketing ways for both products and services have changed into the internet media. Cross-country target market and 24-hour services become the main strengths of online marketing. Moreover, the cost of promotion on the internet marketing is more effective than conventional media such as television, radio, and newspapers. It needs some right strategies and methods to get many visitors. The websites used as marketing media must be built with the right rules to become the optimum internet marketing. One of the rules to build internet marketing is optimizing website to be indexed properly in search engines like Google. This research method is on-page and off-page observation of web pages. Consequently, the analyzed web pages have met the marketing rules based on SEO. However, many other aspects still need improvement.

Abstract

The presence of new media (new media) based on Computer Mediated Communication (CMC) that relies on Internet connection is undeniable to change social order in the community. Thus, the existence of the conventional media became a question in the middle of the new media was presented in the social order. Based on Nielsen study in 2018, Indonesian consumers now spend an average of 5 hours every day consuming content, either through conventional media or the Internet. The research also shows that the TV viewing duration is still the highest, which is an average of 4 hours and 53 minutes per day, the duration of accessing the Internet is the second highest which is an average of 3 hours 14 minutes per day; followed by listening to Radio (2 hours 11 minutes), reading the newspaper (31 minutes) and reading the magazine (24 minutes). Beside that, the increase in Internet consumption makes dual-screen habits between digital media and conventional media becomes something common. There are at least 50 percent duplication between TV and Digital, 62 percent duplication on Radio vs Digital, while the print and Digital Media duplication reaches 72 percent. Based on the description, the convergence becomes one of the keys on mass media existence in the present era.Keywords: Conventional Media, New Media, Existence, Convergence, CMC, Conglomeration

Abstract

Penggunaan skimming method untuk membaca jurnal berbahasa Inggris dapat meningkatkan penguasaan Bahasa Inggris dan dapat meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman isi teks berbahasa Inggris oleh mahasiswa di STIE AUB Surakarta. Peneliti menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif. Dalam penelitian ini, mahasiswa STIE AUB Surakarta sebagai subjek penelitian. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa hasil tes sebelum mendapat pemahaman tentang penggunaan skimming method dalam membaca jurnal dan hasil tes sesudah mendapat pemahaman berbeda dan menunjukkan kenaikan kemampuan Bahasa Inggris mahasiswa, pada teknik uji T pada tes sebelum dan sesudah dengan hasil 6,6 1,72 atau signifikan. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan skimming method dalam membaca jurnal berbahasa Inggris oleh mahasiswa di STIE AUB Surakarta dapat meningkatkan penguasaan Bahasa Inggris dan pemahaman isi teks berbahasa Inggris.

Abstract

The Changes and Innovation of Radio Media in the Digital Era. This study aims at analyzing the changes made by radio in the digital era in radio’s customers compared to what happened in the past. Both changes in business and radio innovation are also discussed. With qualitative approach and descriptive interview and observation methods, this study concluded that the development of digital technology has changed the way of listeners towards the radio. Additionally. the lifestyle and the channels’ usages also changed. For this reason, radio innovates with what is called Tri-O, the integration of the concept of program presentation and ad placement in terms of On Air, Off Air and also Online as a result of the evolutionary process carried out by the radio itself. With all the innovations made by radio media, the fact that radio is no longer just audio can also be added to the visual aspect.

Abstract

The era of industry 4.0 is a digital revolution characterized by the fusion or collaboration between cyber and automation technology. Not only in production processes, but also in almost all parts of economic value chains thus new business model based on digital technology to achieve high efficiency and better quality is created. As a part of creative industry, publishing faces the development and demand to change brought by industry 4.0, from business model, product and services innovation, to marketing and target users. This paper explains the development, challenge, opportunity, and effort related profession disruption faced by publishing professionals in industry 4.0 era. The review in this paper was done by conducting literature and empirical studies. The result shows that publishing professionals must strive to transform mindset and work process in publishing world. Those transformation can be achieved by competency improvement through increasing knowledge in publishing management, building coopetition between fellow publishing professionals, and consistent orientation for users’ needs. Abstract

Pemusatan media telah menimbulkan konsekuensi terhadap lahirnya konglomerasi dalam industri media. Kemunculan konglomerasi media disebabkan adanya penggabungan di antara korporat media serta pengambilalihan sehingga pada gilirannya akan dapat menelan ataupun menguasai berbagai platform di berbagai jenis media. Konsentrasi media berdampak pada praktik kepemilikan media yang mana kepemilikan terpusat dan terbatas pada sejumlah pemegang modal. Faktor ekonomi politik media sangat terkait dengan masalah permodalan atau modal investor yang beroperasi di sektor media. Konglomerasi media telah memunculkan model kepemilikan media yang memiliki kecenderungan kapitalistik. Kepemilikan media menjadi bentukan terminology yang selalu terkait dengan keberadaan konglomerasi dan berbagai bentuk monopoli media. Pemusatan media dapat mengakhiri keberagaman media, yaitu berakhirnya produksi konten tekstual dan menandai berakhirnya konten media yang demokratis sekaligus homogen.
