Abstract

Pinekuhe smoked fish is a fishery product traditionally processed by fishermen of Sangihe Island Regency. Staphylococcus epidermis is an opportunistic phatogen that causes infection to humans of weak immunity. This study aims to identify S. epidermis isolated from the Pinekuhe smoked fish. Fourty isolate samples were grown on Mannitol salt Agar medium and suspect colonies were tested for Gram staining, Catalase, Motility and Coagulase test There were 13 isolates identified as S. epidermis which characteristics as gram-positive, round shapes, clustering, 0,5μm-1μm in diameter, non-motilepositive catalase, and not ferment Mannitol. So, there were 32.5% S. epidermis that contaminated Pinekuhe smoked fish.

Abstract

Giant freshwater shrimp culture were very interested and booming because it has economic values. The problems of control over the genetic qualities giant freshwater shrimp will fall especially on the promotion of production management larvae without followed a good parent, efforts to be carried out is to genetic improvement through the activities of a cross parent (hybridization) in order to produce larvae with a superior quality. Intraspecifik hybridization use giant freshwater shrimp, Aceh population (A) and Siratu strain (R) should be conducted in resiprokal (RA and RA) and pure line (RR and AA). This study aims to assess a cross resiprokal percent Giant freshwater shrimp of the aceh population and siratu strain against the rate and duration of the development larvae of which produced.The result of research show that the larvae of crossbreeding with a method of hybrid resiprokal Siratu x Aceh (RA) with a value of growth rate up 9,87 and duration of the development of 27 day has better effort than hybrid AcehSiratu (AR) with a value of growth rate up 9,78 and duration of the development of 30 day in order to achieve post larvae. The results of a cross hybridization RA and AR longer than inbrida Siratu x Siratu (RR) but faster compared to inbrida Aceh Aceh x (AA) as an elder.

Abstract

DNA barcoding is a method that can be used to identify the plankton by looking at their genetic material. DNA barcoding performed with several stages, i.e. extraction, amplification, purification, and sequencing. The sample used was taken in July 2017 and December 2017 from the area of cultivation of seaweed Bantaeng District, South Sulawesi. This study aims to identify the plankton of the area of seaweed farming in Bantaeng District, South Sulawesi with the method of DNA barcoding using the primer 18S rDNA. The results showed that the plankton identified is the zooplankton, Pegurus bernhardus, Canthocalanus pauper, Calanus finmarchicus, dan Copepoda at station B, Acartia longiremis and Subeucalanus pileatus at stations C, and Oithona sp. at stations D and E.

Abstract

This study focused on lift net fishery activity on its boat carrier. The activity on this transports is the most dangerous potential risk. The limited work area on the boat, with a large number of passengers and added weight of the quantity of goods transported can cause a high chance of accidents. The condition is also exacerbated by the situation on transports that no passenger uses safety equipment or personal protective equipment (PPE), and also the unavailability of these equipment in the boat. The study were aimed to identify the potential hazard or risk during operating of the bagan apung, and to identify the fishermen knowledge in working safety. The method used in this study is a case study method on the potential for work accident in boat carrier and lift net in Palabuhanratu. Primary data were obtained by interview through questionnaire. Secondary data were obtained through literature study concerning fishermen safety occupational. Job Safety Analysis (JSA) was used to examine the working method and the potential hazard at every step of the boat carrier and the bagan apung fishery activity. The result showed that, (1) based on Job Safety Analysis the risk arising were categorized into 3 of accident which were not severe (88%), severe (12%) and very severe (0%); (2) The fishermen having knowledge were categorized as good enough regarding occupational safety and procedures work on a boat. However, lack of awareness of the relevant agencies and fishermen in the management and implementation of work safety procedures in PPN Palabuhanratu had not been implemented properly.

Abstract

The movements and abundance of tuna are strongly influenced by the temperature and water depth. Bungus-based fishermen catch bigeye tuna (BET, Thunnus obesus) and yellowfin tuna (YFT, Thunnus albacares) using handlines operated on light-equipped fishing boats. Purpose of the research : (1) to measure the sea surface temperature (SST) and swimming layer bigeye tuna (BET) and yellowfin tuna (YFT) around Mentawai Island, (2) to identification the effect of light on the vertical distribution, and (3) to determine length of hookline the best catch tuna. Based on the length of the line and configuration of line, weight, hooks and live-squid baits, their hooks were at 45, 53, 60, and 68 meters below sea surface. A total of 8 YFT were caught at 45, 53 and 60 m depths; their total weight was 354 kg. One BET of 45 kg was caught at 60 m depth. This study confirmes that these large-sized tunas were caught at a swimming layer of 15-60 m depth. The sea surface temperature (SST) in the fishing ground around Mentawai Island was 28.9 oC in average where fishermen successfuly caught a total of 15 tunas consisting of 3 BETs and 12 YFT. Adult tuna were caught mostly at 23-60 m depth while the juveniles were caught at 15-45 m. This research indicated an effect of light on increasing the position of adult tuna swimming layer. Handline with line of 53 m is the best gear for catching adult tuna in the area.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menggunakan citra satelit resolusi tinggi worldview-2 akuisisi 5 Oktober 2013. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengkaji kemampuan citra satelit resolusi tinggi worldview-2 dalam memetakan zona geomorfologi dan habitat bentik perairan dangkal di Pulau Kotok Besar. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode klasifikasi Object Based Image Analysis (OBIA). Metode ini mampu mendefinisikan kelas-kelas objek berdasarkan aspek spektral dan spasial. Segmentasi citra menggunakan algoritma multiresolution segmentation dengan parameter skala yang berbeda untuk setiap level, baik level 1, level 2 dan level 3. Shape dan compactness juga disesuaikan untuk setiap level. Penentuan kelas pada level 1 menghasilkan tiga kelas yaitu daratan, perairan dangkal dan perairan dalam. Penentuan kelas pada level 2 untuk zona geomorfologi menghasilkan tiga kelas yaitu reef flat, reef crest, dan reef slope. Klasifikasi habitat bentik pada level 3 menghasilkan 7 kelas dengan akurasi keseluruhan yaitu 66.40 %.

Abstract

Fisheries acoustics has two main division namely active and passive acoustics. Various acoustic studies with active methods have been conducted to assess the relationship between acoustics with fish density, but combination both mactive and passive methods has never been done to the same fish aggregation. Combining these two methods is expected to deliver an information related to fish density and its trend with both active and passive methods. This study was conducted on tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) in controlled condition of 50, 100, and 150 fish individuals with total length range of 10-13 cm. Active and passive acoustic data acquisition carried out for 15 minutes on floating net cage of 2 m × 2 m × 1.8 m in dimension using CruzPro PcFF-80 echosounder 200 kHz (active acoustics) and Dolphin EAR 100 hydrophones (passive acoustics). Active acoustic data is processed using Matlab R2013b to generate value of scattering volume (SV), while passive acoustic data is processed using Wavelab program to obtain the intensity of fish sound in frequency domain, then both are correlated to fish density. The results of SV measurements in fish amounted to 50, 100 and 150 individuals respectively were -45.898 dB, -45,887 dB and -45,888 dB, with the coefficient of determination (R2) reached 0.6583. There is an average decrease in SV in fish totaling 150 individuals suspected to occur due to shadowing effects, also due to small fish used. The highest and lowest intensity of fish sound of 50 fishes in frequency range 0-22 kHz were -28.306 dB and -64.582 dB, 100 fishes were -26.0793 dB and -64.5296 dB, 150 fishes were -28.5246 dB and -64.5679 dB.

Abstract

Perikanan gurita di Kabupaten Banggai Laut termasuk kategori perikanan yang small scale fisheries. Hal ini dikarenakan nelayan Banggai Laut menangkap gurita dengan menggunakan kapal dan alat tangkap yang sederhana. Tren CPUE gurita dalam 3 tahun terakhir (2014-2016) menunjukkan penurunan yang cukup drastis. Penurunan yang terjadi mengindikasikan bahwa tingkat pemanfaatan daerah penangkapan gurita di daerah tersebut sudah terjadi penangkapan yang berlebih. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa gurita di Kabupaten Banggai Laut belum dikelola secara optimal. Pengelolaan hanya melakukan penangkapan terus menerus tanpa mempertimbangkan dampak terhadap sumberdaya gurita. Pengelolaan secara benar perlu dilakukan untuk menjaga potensi sumberdaya gurita agar tetap lestari. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merumuskan strategi pengelolaan daerah penangkapan octopus di Kabupaten Banggai Laut. Pendekatan strategi pengelolaan menggunakan pendekatan strategi Strength, Weakness, Oppurtunity, Threats (SWOT). Strategi pengelolaan perikanan gurita di Kabupaten Banggai Laut dilakukan dengan 1) Strategi SO dengan opsi strategi: Pengembangan kerjasama dengan industri pengolahan ikan dan memanfaatkan potensi perikanan gurita 2) Strategi ST dengan opsi strategi: Menetapkan aturan dan sanksi yang tegas terkait nelayan yang melakukan illegal fishing dan membatasi armada penangkapan ikan. 3) Strategi WO dengan opsi strategi: peningkatan kualitas SDM dan membangun pelabuhan perikanan. 4) Strategi WT dengan opsi strategi: membuat aturan terkait bobot gurita dan pengawasan daerah penangkapan ikan.

Abstract

The research objective to lay open aspects of technique and bio-technique in optimal anchovy resources utilization in Palabuhanratu water in order to anchovy resources can be exploited on the responsible fisheries condition. Its calculation is done to use approach Clark, Yoshimoto and Pooley (CYP), Walter-Hiborn (W-H) and Fox Algorithm models. This research use time series data from 1997 until 2007. The result show that the construction of bagan rakit in Palabuhanratu water consisted of the bagan house, bagan net, anjang-anjang and roller. In its operational, they use 6 units of carrosene lamps. During period 1997 to 2007, amount of unit and effort of bagan rakit to tend to increase, while production of anchovy tend to decrease and increasing to productivity of bagan rakit. Mean of actual production of anchovy resources 30.48 tons per year and actual effort is 26,816 trips per year. Estimation model of anchovy resources management in Palabuhanratu water appropriate Fox Algorithm model, with of static optimal production of equal to 38.51 tons per year and optimal effort of equal to 32,049 trips per year. Result of calculation at period 1997 to 2007 indicating that anchovy resources utilization in Palabuhanratu water can be categorized not yet degraded and biological over fishing.

Abstract

South Sumatera province since 2000, began managing the fishery resources separately with the Province of Bangka Belitung. Bangka Belitung contribution in the fisheries sector of the South Sumatera province in 1999 by 72 %. Based on these conditions, then do research on fisheries development opportunities in the surrounding waters of South Sumatera. This research was conducted in February 2006 until July 2006 in two Regency namely Komiring Ogan Ilir and Banyuasin Regency. The results showed that the leading commodities in the province of South Sumatera is shrimp, crab, marine catfish (Arius thalassinus), and wolf herring (Chirosentrus dorab). This leading commodities still have a great opportunity to be developed for their utilization rates still ranged between 58,42% – 66,77% Fishing gear priority based on the analysis of MCA (multy Critical Analysis) with considering the biological aspects, technical, social and economic is trammelnet, drift gillnet and Stationary-bamboo lift net.
