Abstract

The process of creative thinking is a step that someone uses in produce new ideas and alternative ways/answers include the preparation, incubation, illumination and verification. The problem used is PISA problems with space and shape. Each individual has their own ways to absorbing information and solving a problem is learning style. Learning styles used are global and analytic learning style. The purpose of this research to describe students? creative thinking processes in PISA roblem solving with global and analytic learning style. This research uses descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The research subjects were taken by two students each in global and analytic learning style in class X-IPA 1 of Senior High School 8 Kediri in the odd semester of the 2019/2020 school year. The result of this research showed that students? creative thinking processess in PISA problem solving in PISA with global learning style can through preparation, incubation, illumination and verification. The student can do PISA problem in two different ways but the result are not coherent, do not write the basic formula and some write the final answer. In the incubation stage, student was saturation and difficulty on one of the ways which is found and the effect do silence for a moment. The next, student? creative thinking processes in PISA problem solving with analytic learning style can also through preparation, incubation, illumination and verification. The student can do PISA problem in two different ways, the result are written coherently, step by step written clearly. In the incubation stage, student not have problem. Abstract

The creative thinking process is a stage that passed through while thinking creative. The stages of creative thinking according to Wallas of preparation, incubation, illumination, and verification. Differences in creative thinking processes in solving mathematical problems also affect differences in student?s extrovert and introvert personality types. This study is purposed to describe the student?s creative thinking processes based on the stages of Wallas with extrovert and introvert personality types. This research is a qualitative descriptive which conducted in 8th grade SMP Negeri in Gresik 2018/2019. The subject of this research consist of one student with extrovert personality type and one student with introvert ersonality type. The other criteria of the subject are having an same gender, and great ability communication. The research instruments consist of personality type test, problem solving task, and interview guideline. The result showed that : 1) The creative thinking?s process of students with extrovert types, (a) In the preparation stage, student could read and understand the questions twice based on subject?s ability to explain back information using its own language. (b) In the incubation stage, student experienced a saturation point and could not find a solution. Then, student made physical movements for thinking about the solution. (c) In the illumination stage, student has found a solution to find the maximum benefit by looking at the already known comparisons of the problems. (d) In the verification stage, student has implemented its idea as specified at the illumination stage, but student did not re-examine the steps and the results. 2) The creative thinking?s process of students with introvert types, (a) In the preparation stage, student could read and understand the questions several times based on subject?s ability to explain back information using its own language. (b) In the incubation stage, student experienced a saturation point but still though the solution with playing the writing instrument. The student resolves the problem which will be seen at the illumination stage. (c) In the illumination stage, student found the main idea that lead to problem solving, namely seeking maximum profit by looking at the already known comparisons of the problems. (d) In the verification stage, student has implemented its idea as specified at the illumination stage, student also re-checked the steps and the results from the first stage. Abstract

The development of technology that get more advance, such as Android-based smartphones, often makes students prefer to play games than to study. One way to overcome is by utilizing Android-based smartphone as a learning media. This research develop an Android-based learning media on Financial Mathematic that the result reviewed in terms of validity, practically, and effectiveness. The instruments in this research were media validity sheet, material validity sheet, student questionnaire, observation sheet, and the students? scoresheet. The trial for the learning media were conducted limited to 15 eight graders of SMP Negeri 1 Wonoayu.Based on the research, the average value of total validity was 3,59 (media expert) and 3,58 (material expert) of 4, so that it could be categorized as a valid Android-based learning media. It was practical because the percentage value of student questionnaire was 83,25% and the average value of the observation sheet was 90,67%. Based on the student?s scoresheet, 86,67% student?s score ?76 (Standar Minimum Score) so that conclud the Android-based learning media was effective.Keywords: development, Android game, learning media, Financial Mathematic

Abstract

Understanding mathematical concepts is the ablitiy of students to accept material in the form of mathematical concepts and then can restate the concept, can use, utilize, an choose certain procedurs or operations in determaining a concept, and apply the concept in solving mathematical problems. Trigonometry is one of the subjects in mathematics that students? understanding of concepts is still low. The process of understanding mathematical concepts can be seen from the learning styles that each student has. Grasha Riechman's learning style is the tendency of students to think and interact with each other in various learning environments and various experiences in the process of gaining new knowledge.  The purpose of this study is to describe the profile of students? understanding of mathematical concepts in trigonometry based on Grasha-Riechman?s learning style. Grasha-Reichman learning style consist of independent, dependent, collaborative, competitive, contributive/participant, and avoidant. This study uses qualitative approach and this type of this study in descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques used in this study were written test and interviews. Data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions.. The subject of this study were each one student from the existing Grasha Riechmann?s learning style type.  The results show that Students who have a dependent and competitive learning style have ability to restate a concept, present concept in various mathematical representations, use or choose certain procedures in determining a concept, and apply concepts in completing mathematical problems. Students who have independent and collaborative learning style have the ability to restate a concept, present concepts in various mathematical representations, and use or choose certain procedures in determining a concept, but the have not been able to apply the concept to solving mathematical problems. Student who have avoidant learning style have the ability to present concept in various mathematical representations and use or choose procedures in determining a concept, but this student have not been able to restate a concept and apply the concept to solving mathematical problems. Student who have participant learning style only have the ability to present concepts in various mathematical representations, this student have not been able to restate a concept, use or choose procedures in determining a concepts, and apply the concept in solving mathematical problems.Keywords: Understanding mathematical concept, Trigonometry, Grasha Riechman's learning style

Abstract

Statistical reasoning is needed by students to understanding statistical concepts and problems. Students? efforts in understanding statistical information and problems often involve statistical process, namely the process of organizing and reducing data and the process of analyzing and interpreting data.  This research is descriptive study with qualitative approach that aims to analyze and describe the senior high school students? statistical reasoning in solving non-routine problems. The subjects in this study were three high school students of grade XII who have same sex and have equivalent mathematical abilities. The instruments used in this study consisted of the Mathematical Ability Test (MAT), the Statistical Reasoning Test (SRT), and interview guidlines. The results showed that students who have low mathematical ability are also reach low level in statistical reasoning. In solving problem related to process of organizing and reducing data, the students reached level 1 and level 2 in statistical reasoning, because the students determine the mode value using incorrect concepts and ways, that are input the data to the mode formula incorrectly, determining the mode value of data which are presented in the frequency distribution table just by looking at frequency column, and cannot combine and sort the data in percent form correctly. In solving the problem related to the process of analyzing and interpreting data, the students reached level 1 in statistical reasoning, because they cannot interpret the tendency of two data groups, so the response which are given is incorrect. Abstract

Analogy reasoning is the process of thinking logically and analytically in drawing conclusions based on the similarities between the two things being compared. The purpose of this study is to describe the analogy reasoning of students in solving mathematical problems in terms of high, medium, and low mathematical abilities. This research is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. Data collection was carried out in class IX-H of SMP Negeri 5 Surabaya in the 2019/2020 school year by 33 students and each subject was selected for each category of mathematical ability. The results of the analysis of Problem Solving Tests and interviews show that students with high, medium, and low mathematical abilities mention information that is known and what is asked for logical reasons on the source and target problem, and explain the relations between the information. This indicates that each subject has an encoding process. Each subject also mentions and explains the concepts used to solve source problems, which means each subject has an inferring process. The difference is, subjects with high mathematical ability mention the same concepts between the source problem and the target problem and explain the concepts used to solve the target problem, then students can complete the target problem. This means that the subject is doing two other processes, namely mapping and applying. Subjects with medium mathematical abilities are mentioning the same concept between the source problem and the target problem but cannot explain the concept used in the target problem. However, the subject only did one of the two indicators in the mapping process, so the analogy reasoning process carried out by the subject was encoding and inferring. While students with low mathematical abilities are stopped in the encoding and inferring processes. Keywords: Analogy Reasoning, Mathematical Abilitiy

Abstract

Dalam mengerjakan permasalahan matematika, pasti ada yang mengalami suatu hambatan dalam proses pemecahannya yang menyebabkan terjadinya suatu kesalahan dalam proses pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis jenis kesalahan yang dilakukan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita berdasarkan tahapan Newman pada materi bangun datar segiempat dan penyebab mereka melakukan kesalahan tersebut. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif-kualitatif dengan metode tes tulis dan wawancara. Subjek penelitian adalah 3 dari 32 siswa kelas VII-D SMP Negeri 2 Nganjuk yang dipilih berdasarkan banyaknya kesalahan yang dilakukan saat tes tulis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kesalahan yang dilakukan siswa dalam mengerjakan soal cerita tentang bangun datar segiempat, yaitu (1) kesalahan dalam membaca soal, (2) kesalahan dalam memahami soal, (3) kesalahan dalam mentransformasi soal, (4) kesalahan dalam keterampilan proses, dan (5) kesalahan dalam menuliskan jawaban akhir. Penyebab siswa melakukan kesalahan tersebut adalah siswa kurang teliti dalam membaca dan mengerjakan soal, belum paham materi dan belum terbiasa mengerjakan soal cerita dengan tahapan Newman. Kata kunci: analisis, kesalahan, soal cerita, tahapan newman, bangun datar segiempat.  In working on mathematical problems , there must be someone(s) who got some obstacles in the process of solving it which causes an error in the learning process. This research aims to describe students errors according to Newman?s Error Analysis in solving rectangular word problem and why they are doing that. This research used a qualitative-descriptive approach with the written test and interview method. The research subjects were 3 of 32 students from class 8­th-D Public Middle School 2 Nganjuk which is chosen based on the number of errors made during the written test. The results of this research shows that the students made some errors in solving mathematics involving rectangular word problems such as reading error, comperhension error, transformation error, process skill error and encoding error. The reason students make these mistakes are (1) students are not careful in reading and working on problems, (2) students doesn't understand the material, (3) and students are not usual to working on word problems using the Newman?s  method. Abstract

Errors are mistakes made by students in finding solutions to problems. Errors made by students will result in learning outcomes. Based on the results of interviews with Mathematics teachers at Al-Mizan High School Surabaya, 35% of students in class X Sciences and 90% of students in class X Social Sciences experienced a remission on the SPLTV (Three Variable Linear Equation System) material. This research is a qualitative descriptive study that aims to describe the location and causes of errors of Al-Mizan Surabaya High School students in working on SPLTV story problems and developing solutions. Many research subjects are 4 people with the criteria of students indicated to make the most errors and varied. Data is collected by giving questions and interviews. Error analysis in this study uses the Newman?s Error Analysis (NEA) method. The results of this study indicate that students of class X Sciences of SMA Al-Mizan Surabaya experienced errors in reading questions (with indicators not finding, not explaining, or wrong in writing keywords in questions), transformation (with indicators unsuccessful in writing mathematical sentences of questions) , and process skills (with indicators unsuccessful in writing the correct solution according to procedure) in solving SPLTV story problems. The factors that cause the Al-Mizan Surabaya High School students to make mistakes are because they do not understand the meaning of the keywords, one of which is related to the word more than, not right in the algebraic arithmetic operations, and not focus on workmanship. The solution to these problems includes the teacher teaching how to identify which objects are larger or smaller and then by the difference of the number of two objects can be made a linear equation. Students are asked to interpret the questions correctly, students are expected to focus on working on the problems to avoid carelessness, the teacher teaching the prerequisite material from SPLTV. Abstract

This study aims to determine whether learning with the PMRI approach influences student learning outcomes in mathematics. This research was conducted in Class VIII SMPN 2 Gedangan Sidoarjo Odd Semester 2019/ 2020.Academic Year on material number patterns. This study is an experiment that aims to determine the effect of the PMRI approach to student learning outcomes. The design used is the control group pre-test-post-test-design. Data collection techniques include tests (pretest-posttest). Based on the calculation of the results of the experimental class and the control class each comes from a normally distributed population. The regression equation shows that the direction of the PMRI approach influences student learning outcomes. Based on calculation with SPSS (Statistical Product and Service Solution) the value of sig < ?. The ? value used in the study is 0.05. The sig value obtained is 0.014. based on the guidelines for decision making, that 0.0014> 0.05, the result obtained that the PMRI approach affect student learning outcomes.Keyword : Indonesia?s realistic mathematics education, student learning outcomes.

Abstract

In implementing the 2013 curriculum, Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) must be integrated into learning activities. Similarity are sub material of similarity and congruence that students must learn. In fact, the higher order thinking skills of junior high school students in similarity material is low. To overcome this problem, it is necessary to develop a learning materials for learning in the form of plane similarity according to the level of student thinking in geometry, which is based on Van Hiele's theory to improve students' higher-order thinking skills. Van Hiele's theory was chosen because it suggests the development of students' thinking in learning of geometry occurs through five levels sequentially so that learning devices can be developed according to the level of van Hiele students. The purpose of this research is to obtain a description of the learning materials of plane similarity based on van Hiele theory based on van Hiele theory to improve students' high-level thinking skills that are valid, practical, and effective. This type of research is a research development using the 4-D model proposed by Thiagarajan then simplified to a 3-D model. Validation of learning devices, participant observation, questionnaires, and tests are the data collection techniques used. The results showed that the RPP, LKS, and THB were said to be valid then, the learning materials was declared valid; the management of learning is said to be good, the overall evaluation on the validation sheet of the learning materials is stated to be used, and the percentage of active student activities at the second meeting and the third meeting respectively is 91.25% and 91.25% then, the learning kit is declared practical; and the percentage of positive responses of students by 71% and an increase in higher order thinking skills seen from the results of the N-Gain pretest and posttest of 0,728 categorized as high then, the learning device is declared effective.
