Abstract

Yeast can be used for many purposes , in the fermentation industries, bakeries, alcoholic beverages , etc , Yenst can be also used for · Saccharification and fermentation in home industries, and also it can be used as cat­tle food. The protein conten is about 45-52 % dry matter (White)1-2,6 % fats and a good sources of Calsium, Iron, and Phos­phor. Inthis experiment active dry yeast Temperature, pH, medium and exponentialfeeding and sever­al, drying exper­iment was conducted within Lab-scaIe unit,in making mass production, drying was made by drum/spray­drying.

Abstract

The importance of particle size in relation to activity have been reviewed. Studies with DDT indicated that there is an inverse relationship exists between the DDT crystal size and effectiveness. Field tests with chlorpyrifos showed that finer particled wettable powder were more active againts the cotton bollwonn than the larger particles which formed on the plant from emulsion sprays. But, control of codling moth with chlor­ pyrifos showed that a larger particled wettable powder remains toxic to just inster larvae for longer than finer particles. Other experiments showed that first inster larvae of cabbage white Butterfly picked up and dropped tha largest particles of carbaryl, whilethe smallest adhere too strongly to the plant surface.

Study and data compilation about industrial water desalination will be described in this paper. The experiments have been made on brakish waters, carried out by Industrial Research Institute in Jakarta. Prototype of electrodialysis appar atus has also been studied by Industrial Reserch Institute.

Abstract

Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) is the enclosure of meat in high gas barrier materials, in which the gaseous environment has been changed especially to maintain the colour of meat and reduce microbiological growth - with the intent of extending shelf life.MAP which has been applied commercially to fresh meat may be devided into two basic techniques, high oxygen MAP and low oxygen MAP. The shelf life and safety of fresh meat in this packaging method is influenced by a number of factors, namely the nature of meat, the gaseous environment inside the package, the nature of the package, the storage temperature, and the packaging process and machinery.

Abstract

Amongst the wide variety of polymer film lately available, no other film hasrevolutionized the flexible packaging then the polyster film polyester film because of its out standing properties has an unique plase amongst other plastic film. Because of this film provides high effeciency in the processess of printing, lamination, sealing bag making and automatic packaging. It can printed at a higher speed than other plastic films on conventional printing machines.

Abstract

Iodization of salt is processe in which iodine in the form of potassium Iodate solution, is added. into salt , The materials needed for the purpose are : salt (NaCl), potassium iodate (KIO3) and water. Iodized salt in Indonesia should contain 40 ppm of potassium Iodate,with 10 ppm tolerable deviation.

Abstract

Waste water from leather tanning industries contains high pollutant of organic and inorganic matters. Fragmented method of waste water treatment management has been done in PT K, leather tanning industry, Malang. This method based on the characteristic ot the waste water from each leather tanning process with four group treatment process to reduce the COD content. By implementing this method the result shows that the COD content decreasing from 4047,68 ppm to 793,37 ppm (80,40 %); other benefit is reducing bad smell during the process.

Abstract

There are many proceses for making salt in indonesia. But all of these have an equality, they use sun energy for evaporation (solar salt), and generally based on sea water. Only 2 small areas in Central of Java, use soil water and salted mud for raw material (soil salt). The mentioned processes will be described briefly.

Abstract

According to most historians, writing ink was first prepared and used by the Chenese the Egyptians. These early inks were probably composed of carbonaceous materials, such as lamp black or soot mixed with animal glue or vegetable oil vehicles. Writing inks differ from printing inks in that the latter are generally applied to a substrate by means of a printing press. Printing inks as supplied to the graphic arts industry are used in much greater volume by far as com­pared to writing inks. Inks make used of inorganid pigment and dyes, most commonly in the form of pigments that is to say, rendered insoluble in one of a number of way. Inks can be made of any desired tint, for a variety of pigments and dye­stuffs are at the manufacturers; and the discovery of the coaltar colours, the main credit for which is due to Perkin, has increased their resources almost indefinitely, for they are now able to match any ray of the solar spectrum.

Abstract

Detoxication is the transformation of a toxic substance into a less toxic  product. Detoxication of the pesticide contaminated waste water can be done by biota and abiota. Detoxication by biota may involve one or more the following reactions : oxidations, dechlorinations, reductions, hydrolysis, aromatic ring cleavage, etc. Detoxication by abiota may involved physical and chemical treatment. Three types of pesticide conta­minated waste water were prepared in theis experiment. The first type contain MIPC, the second Carbofuran and the other BPMC. The concentration of each type are carried out after 1,2,3, and 4 weeks. The result indicate that the longer detoxication time is better result, the kind of toxicants affected detoxication product, KOH is stronger than NaOH.
