Abstract

This study aimed to describe direct and indirect effect of parenting style, self-efficacy, achievement motivation to science academic achievement at junior high school students. This type of study is a quantitave with ex-post facto design. This study was conducted at six civil junior high school. The population of this study were 6232 students. Using cluster random sampling technique, 6 schools were selected as sample and using proportionate stratified random sampling technique, 422 students were selected as sample. Parenting style questionnaire, self-efficacy questionnaire, achievement motivation questionnaire, and science academic achievement test were used to collect the data. The data was analysed descriptively and path analyses was used to testing the hypothesis. First, the results showed that there were direct and indirect effects of parenting style to academic achievement. The direct effect of parenting style to science academic achievement (ρ=0,224), indirect effect of parenting style through self-efficacy was 0,095, indirect effect of parenting style through achievement motivation was 0,212, and indirect effect of parenting style through self-efficacy and achievement motivation was 0,065. Second, The result showed the direct effect of self-efficacy to science academic achievement (ρ=0,101), indirect effect of self-efficacy through achievement motivation 0,070. Third, the result also showed direct effect of achievement motivation to science academic achievement (ρ=0,577).

Abstract

This study aims to improve the optimization of students in the ability to construct their knowledge in understanding the concepts of Basic Physics in particular Newton's Law with Inquiry-Heuristic Assisted Vee Aids. The type of research used in this study is the type of explanatory research and analysis used in this study using SPSS, Descriptive Interpretation, Pearson Correlation Interpretation, linear regression, ANOVA. The results showed that the Pearson correlation test showed a value of 0.666 shows a positive correlation between the ability of knowledge construction with learning outcomes. Analysis of the coefficient of determination is 0.444, which means that the influence of the ability of knowledge construction to learning outcomes is 44.4% with F value = 18,339. The regression model can be used to predict the participation variable. Thus it is stated that the ability of knowledge construction has a strong degree of closeness to learning outcomes.

Abstract

AbstractThis study aimed to develop a Damdam Ji Chemistry learning media on colloidal material. This research is Research & Development (R&D) which used the 4D development model (Define, Design, Development, and Disseminate). The instruments of data collection consisted of media validation sheet, product quality assessment sheet, and student response sheets. This product qulity was assessed by one material expert, one media expert, and three chemistry teachers. The result showed that the quality of the Damdam Ji Chemistry learning media have very good quality with an percentage ideal of 96,91% from the chemistry teacher and have well postive response from the students with an percentage ideal of 93,2 %. The use of Damdam Ji Chemistry in chemistry learning can make learning more interesting with games.

Abstract

This class action research aims to improve student learning outcomes by implementing scientific activities and visualization of subject matter. Research subjects in this study were high school students of Muhammadiyah High School in Sukabumi City (n = 20). The instrument used in this study was a multiple choice test to measure student learning outcomes, student observation sheet activities and interviews. The research method is classroom action research. The results showed that there was an increase in student learning outcomes after the implementation of scientific activities and visualization. scientific activities and visualization of subject matter can learners construct knowledge so that student learning outcomes have increase.

Abstract

The focus of this study is to determine students' difficulties related to mastering the concept of Archimedes Principles topics. The study used descriptive quantitative method with the subject 35 XIth students. The research instrument was 10 multiple choice questions about Archimedes principle. Although there are improvements, but overall students do not fully understand the concept of the Archimedes principle. Difficulties among students are failing to understand that the buoyancy force is the resultant force by fluid pressure on the object and still considers the immersed object to have the Archimedes force affected by the depth of the object. When working on the application of the problem the students managed to answer correctly, but when completing the formulation questions the students were still get difficulties

Abstract

Tujuan: Sikap adalah ungkapan suka ataupun tidak suka atau menerima ataupun menolak suatu objek. Sikap menerima dilambangkan dengan sikap positif dan sikap menolak dilambangakan dengan sikap negatif  Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan sikap siswa terhdap sains berdasarkan tiga indikator sikap di SMP di Muaro Jambi. Metode: penelitian ini adalah Penelitian survey. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa angket yang berfokus pada tiga indikator yang terdiri dari 26 pernyataan dan juga wawancara. Sampel pada penelitian ini berjumlah 2815 SMP di Muaro Jambi. Hasil: Hasil penelitaian terhadap sikap siswa adalah: Imlpkasi sosial dari IPA menunjukkan kategori sangat baik dengan pesentase kategori 53,2%.  Kesenangan dalam belajar sains menunjukkan kategori baik dengan persentase 48,1%. Ketertarikan berkarir dibidag IPA/Sains berkategori cukup dengan persentase kategori sebesar 41,8 %. Implikasi:  Penelitian yang telah dilaksanakan terlihat bahwa sikap siswa di SMP  berkategori baik, karena tiga indikator yang di teliti menunjukkan kategori baik yang menunjukkan tren sikap positif.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the application of the project based learning model with a scientific approach to improve the learning outcomes of gravimetric analysis in students class XI chemical analysis of SMK Negeri 2 Depok year 2018/2019. The research conducted consisted of 4 stages, pre cycle, cycle 1, cycle 2, and cycle 3. Data collection was done through observation, evaluation of learning outcomes, assessment of project based learning processes, and documentation. The results showed that project based learning can improve the learning outcomes of gravimetric analysis on students of class XI chemistry analysis, namely the average learning outcomes on the cycle of 69, cycle 1 at 81, cycle 2 at 85, cycle 3 by 87. Use of project based learning can increase the number of students who achieve the minimum scor criteria that is in the pre cycle of 10 students, cycle 1 of 27 students, cycle 2 of 29 students, and cycle 3 of 30 students. The conclusion of this research is the application of the project based learning model with a scientific approach to improve the learning outcomes of gravimetric analysis on class XI students of chemical analysis of SMK Negeri 2 depok year 2018/2019.

Abstract

The era of industrial revolution 4.0 contributes major challenges in 21st century of education in obtaining qualified students. Education process lead to the development of student skills and attitudes in addition to the knowledge learning process. Critical thinking skills (KBKr) is one of the 21st century learning skills that students should have and needs to be practiced during learning process in school. One of the learning method to practice KBKr is discovery-inquiry learning method. The purpose of this study is obtain the affect of discovery-inquiry learning method on student’s critical thinking skill achievement in topic of solubility. Method of research is pre-experimental and one-shot case study as the design of method research. Subjects were 41 students at one of the senior high school in Bandung. Instruments of this research are six questions of written test and interview guidelines. Highest achievement at the whole sub indicators is the high ability student’s group. Overall, the student’s critical thinking skill achievement on factors affecting solubility’s learning with discovery-inquiry is good.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the misconceptions of a prospective chemistry teacher. The study population was all students of the Chemistry Study Program at the University of Riau, while the sample was 66 students at the Chemistry Study Program at the University of Riau, selected by cluster random sampling technique. Conception data of chemistry teacher candidates on acid-base subjects have been identified and obtained by providing valid acid-base TTT diagnostic tests to chemistry teachers candidates. The result of this research showed that chemistry teacher candidate who experienced misconception on acid-base subject were 66.5% from 4 main concepts studied, namely acid and base concepts (51.15%), pH and pOH concepts and their calculations (79.06%), the concept of acid-base dissociation degree (75.43%), and the concept of acid-base titration and indicator (58.13%). The study also revealed that some students have difficulties in performing mathematical operations using logarithms.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the problem of science learning in Junior High School. This research was conducted at the 7 Muaro Jambi  Junior High School in the academic year 2018/2019. The study uses a qualitative approach with the case study type. The subjects of this research were 9 grade students of 7 Muaro Jambi  Junior High School. The research instrument used observation sheets for science learning facilities, student and teacher questionnaire. Data was analyzed in a qualitative descriptively with an interactive analysis models (Huberman and Miles models). The results showed that the application of scientific approaches has not been optimal. The results of this study showed that the application of scientific approaches has not been optimal. Science learning still rarely use multimedia. Teachers rarely invite students to investigation or experiment to find the science concept. Students learn by memorizing the concepts found in the book or described by the teacher. Students have difficulty to explain the application of science concepts related to the phenomenon in daily life.  Students' motivation and interest in science learning are low. Parents lack the attention and guidance of studying science at home to their children. The average time used to learn of  science  outside of the schools is < 2 hours/week. The school has laboratory equipment and science tectbooks are adequate to support the study of science.
