Abstract

Buildings development is very glowing recently.  This also has effect on manpower who works at this sector.  Manpower is demanded to have skill according to his field.  Worker at finishing field or especially for ceiling painter needs skill and technique that he should master.  While working the worker always assists by tools and paint materials.  Tools that are used by the ceiling painter have not been refered to antropometry aspect, so it can cause inconvenient in performing the job.  Working with toold that are not accorded to ergonomic principle and working posture that is not physiological can cause fatigue, muscle disturbance, musculoskeletal and increasing working load.  That is why it needs to modify painting roller holder stick.  In that case the worker can work in comfort, safe, healthy, efficient and productive so it can increase productivity. This research was perfomed at office house at Denpasar City.  Type of this research is experimental research by using treatment by subject design by involving 16 samples.  Interval between before treatment and after treatment is given washing out for two days.  Data measured are the working load measured by the increasing of subjective complaint recorded by Nordic Body Map questionnaire, pulses, fatigue and working productivity.  Data of subjective complaint was analyzed by non-parametric statistic test using the Wilcoxon test with significance rate of ? = 0.05, data of pulses as indicator of working load,  working productivity was priorly data normality tested by Shapiro-Wilk Test with significance rate of ? = 0.05.  Data that normal distributed is continued with parametric statistic test using the t-paired test at significance rate of ? = 0.05. Research result shows that there is significant different (p<0.05) to working load variable, musculoskeletal complaint, fatigue and productivity.  At before treatment the average of pulses of ceiling painter is 118.95 + 2.30 dpm, average of musculoskeletal complaint is 78.50 + 5.84, average of fatigue is 74.22 + 388 and average of productivity is 0,070 + 0,017.  Whereas, at after treatment the average of pulses of ceiling painter is 111.89 + 6.58 dpm, average of musculoskeletal complaint is 61.61 + 1.71, average of fatigue is 64.50 + 2.88 and average of productivity is 0,086 + 0,070. Modification of painting roller holder stick turned out to decrease working load for 10,77%, musculoskeletal complaint for 21,51%, fatigue for 13,09%, and productivity is increasing for 22,85%. From discussion above it can be concluded that the modification of painting roller holder stick can decrease working load, musculoskeletal complaint, fatigue, and increase productivity.  In that case, it can be expected that the ceiling painter workers use this painting roller holder stick in order to minimize any complaint raises due to working process

Abstract

Musculoskeletal disorders which are an injury or pain in the human musculoskeletal system can reduce productivity especially the warehouse workers at a tire industry. This research aims to observe the prevalence and the factors which increase the musculoskeletal disorders among the warehouse workers at a tire industry. Thirty warehouse workers of a tire warehouse participated in this study by filling out a Nordic Body Map questionnaire or skeletal muscle complaints instrument. The result of this study showed that the highest prevalence of the musculoskeletal disorders at the warehouse workers at a tire industry occurred at the lower back area. The factors which influence the risk of musculoskeletal disorders of the warehouse workers at the tire industry are age, weight, educational background, and the duration of working by using the lower back, knees, and ankles. To reduce the risk of musculoskeletal disorders, it is necessary to supervise the work posture and design a work environment which involves all members of the company.

Abstract

In this globalization era, all people are required to work, on other side, demand for services also increased so that some companies use a shift work and divided the shift into morning shift and night shift to improve services. This study, researcher wanted to determine the relationship of sleep disorders with fatigue in the working rotating shift especially at night.This study used a cross sectional analytic study. The subject of this study are the 24-hour minimart employees in Denpasar. The results will be presented in tabular form in the auxiliary correlation with SPSS 17.0 for data processing.There is a significant relationship between sleep disturbance and fatigue level subjects (p = 0.024). Positive r values indicate sleep disturbances and fatigue has a comparable relationship.From the results of this study, so it is advisable for each company to give more attentionto work shift patterns according to the ergonomics of work to reduce fatigue and accidents.

Abstract

Pekerja pembuatan atap alang-alang bekerja dengan sikap kerja duduk di lantai dengan punggung sedikit membungkuk. Intervensi dengan pemberian kursi lantai sebagai alas saat kerja serta dilakukan penataan layout proses produksi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan work engagement dan produktivitas pekerja pembuatan atap alang-alang di Gianyar. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimental dengan randomized pre-posttest control group design melibatkan 16 sampel penelitian yang dipilih secara random. Subjek penelitian dibagi menjadi dua yaitu kelompok kontrol adalah pekerja yang bekerja seperti biasa dan kelompok perlakuan adalah pekerja yang bekerja dengan menggunakan kursi lantai dan penataan layout proses produksi. Work engagement didata menggunakan kuesioner UWES 17 dan produktivitas didata berdasarkan jumlah atap alang-alang yang dihasilkan. Analisis data menggunakan uji parametrik dengan nilai ?=0,05 untuk data yang berdistribusi normal dan uji non-parametrik untuk data yang tidak berdistribusi dengan normal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan perbedaan yang bermakna pada work engagement dan produktivitas (p<0,05). Pada kelompok kontrol rerata skor work engagement 50,75 dan produktivitas 0,067, sedangkan pada kelompok perlakuan rerata skor work engagement 71,12 dan produktivitas 0,015. Pemberian kursi lantai dan penataan layout proses produksi terbukti dapat meningkatkan work engagement sebesar 40,13% dan meningkatkan produktivitas sebesar 34,60%. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan ergonomi berupa pemberian kursi lantai dan penataan layout proses produksi terbukti dapat meningkatkan work engagement dan produktivitas kerja pada pekerja pembuatan atap alang-alang.

Abstract

Educational staff at the University of Darussalam Gontor sit in front of the computer screen for quite a long time, causing musculoskeletal complaints. Applying the Rule of Twenty (RoT) method is one way to minimize the risk of musculoskeletal disorders. This study aimed to measure the effectiveness of the Rule of Twenty methods in reducing the risk level of complaints of musculoskeletal disorders for the educational staff of the University of Darussalam Gontor. This study was a pre-experimental research with one group pre-test – post-test design. The population in this study was the entire 68 educational staff of the University of Darussalam Gontor. Twenty-one (21) staff involved as a sample in this study and selected by purposive sampling method. The Nordic Body Map instrument was used to measure musculoskeletal complaint levels before and after the rule of twenty methods applied. Data were analyzed using the SPSS program version with autocorrelation test and paired t-test (CI: 95%). The measurement results of musculoskeletal disorders among 21 respondents before and after the application of RoT were the level of action 1 (low-risk level). The result of the autocorrelation measurement showed that the value of Durbin Watson (DW) was 1.958 and DW (1.968)> DU (1.8116), indicates that there was no autocorrelation between variables. The paired t-test showed the value of t = 5.760 and p = 0.0001, indicates a significant difference between musculoskeletal disorders before and after the application of the Rule of Twenty Method (p<0.05). Based on the result, this study found that the Rule of Twenty Method is effective in reducing the musculoskeletal disorders of the Educational Staffs, and potentially reduce 9.4% of musculoskeletal complaints among workers.

Abstract

Radiology Installation is a unit of medical support services in a health facility that has a function as a means of patient diagnosis. In RSUP Sanglah there are 5 units of radiology sub-section such as Central Radiology, IRD, Wing Amerta, Central Surgery Room and Cath Lab Room which all have a goal of providing quality diagnostic value to patients and society. Problems occurring within the radiology unit are the incidence of work-related musculoskeletal complaints, increased general fatigue in workers, as well as decreased speed of examination by radiographers in service. This can be caused by a mismatch between the work tool and its users. Research has been conducted with intervention of redesign of X-ray tube handling through user anthropometry aims to know how big the effect of X-ray tube grip design improvement to musculoskeletal complaints, general fatigue and increased examination speed by radiographer. The subject anthropometry data is used as the basis for redesigning the X-ray tube handle. The design of the study using Treatment By Subject Designs with a large sample of 12 people who became the control group as well as the intervention group. Subjects were subjected to redesigned X-ray tube handles or grips that have been improved in shape and design more ergonomically adapted to the anthropometry of the subject body. Musculoskeletal complaints were assessed with Nordic Body Map questionnaires from NIOSH Japan, generalized fatigue disorder with 30 general fatigue items, and the examination speed by radiographers was obtained by measuring the time of the radiologic treatment on the number of checks performed. Shapiro - Wilk test was performed to determine the normality of data at significance level (? = 0,05). Differential comparative test between pre-repair and post-design improvement of musculoskeletal complaints, general fatigue and speed of examination using paired t-test at significance level ? = 0.05 It was found that in the intervention group the use of redesigned X-ray tubes could significantly decrease musculoskeletal complaints (p <0.05) by 10.42%, significantly reducing general fatigue by 22.38% (p <0.05 ) and increased the examination rate by 12.50% (p <0.05). Thus it can be concluded that the improved X-ray tube handle design can decrease musculoskeletal complaints, reduce general fatigue and increase the speed of inspection by radiographers at Sanglah Hospital Denpasar.

Abstract

Characteristics of weaver was done by sitting on a chair in front of the loom. Sitting position for ± 8 working hours, monotonous movement, shoulders slightly raised, causing workers to balance body position. Work posture cause a static contraction to the shoulder and neck muscles. This study aims to show that the application of cervical stabilization through active exercise every 2 hours after work increase functional ability seen from decreasing musculoskeletal complaints, fatigue, increasing neck disability index and productivity among workers in weaving industry. This experimental study has been done, with treatment by subject design. Period 1 subject is not treated ie weaving as usual. Period 2 subjects were treated with the application of cervical stabilization through active exercise every 2 hours after work. Between the two stages, washing out period and adaptation. Musculoskeletal complaints were measured by Nordic Body Map questionnaire, work fatigue with 30 item of rating scale, neck functional ability measured with neck disability index and productivity based on output and input ratio. Analysis of the collected data is started with the descriptive analysis and the normality data tested using Shapiro-Wilk. Further, the data that has normal distribution are analyzed using t-paired and the data that has not a normal distribution are analyzed using Wilcoxon test. This study show that the application of cervical stabilization through active exercise increase functional ability seen from decreasing of musculoskeletal complaint 17.05%, fatigue 19.78%, increasing of neck disability index 15.13% and productivity 66.67%. It can be concluded that the application of cervical stabilization through active exercise increase functional ability seen from musculoskeletal complaints, work fatigue, neck disability index and work productivity. So it is suggested to apply to weavers in the weaving industry, to increase the functional ability of workers.

Abstract

The learning process in a room with low intensity may cause the eyestrain amongstudents, it would be a disadvantage because it makes students become tired and sleepy. The assessment of fatigue used psychomotor reaction time test. This test provides a description of the fatigue that occurs among students. This study aims to investigate the influence of improvement of light intensity to the reaction time among sixth grade students at ElementarySchool Dauh Puri Number 8 Denpasar.This research was using pre experimental study with the one group pre test-post test design among sixth grade students at Elementary School Dauh Puri Number 8 Denpasar. This study used 22 subjects, 11 men and 11 women. The study was conducted first by measuring the reaction time after the first period of study is completed, and then the light intensity improved to meet the standards for one week. The second measurement of the reaction timedid after one week period of the intervention.The results showed a significant difference between the reaction time before the intervention (522 ms) and after the intervention (476 ms), CI 95% : 42.68 – 50.68, p = 0.000. There was additional data regarding the reaction time comparisons between men and women. The reaction time is faster in men (480 ms) than in women (564 ms), p = 0.004. It was concluded that the improvement of light intensity is able to accelerate the reaction time, and reaction time is faster in men than women.

Abstract

The production process of making gamelan in the village Tihingan, Klungkung, Bali, still using the traditional fireplace with open flames both to the melting process as well as on the process of formation so that crafters fairly heavy workload caused by exposure to radiation heat and dust. This research was conducted observational against 5 people workers (craftsman) gamelan nguwad process. The workload is measured by pulse craftsman work. Microclimate in the workplace were measured wet temperature, dry temperature, humidity, intensity of noise, and light intensity. Musculoskeletal disorderpredicted by questioner of Nordic Body Map and general fatigue  predicted  by  the questioner 30 items exhaustion with four Likert scale. The results of the research to get the pulse of gamelan craftsmen working on a furnace repairman 116.25 ± 3.78, the flop workers 115.42 ± 2.47, and 3.29 ± 126.47 of nguwad workers. The cardio vasculer load obtained 50.13 ± 3.42% so the recommended 75% work and 25% rest. Gamelan making production process also cause a variety of subjective disorders. It was concluded that (a) the level of workload on a craftsman gamelan is the artisan perapen and artisan-flops belonging to the workload being, the artisan nguwad workload is quite heavy, (b) based on the value of CVL, workload craftsman gamelan in Bali including the workload being, ( c) a significant increase in musculoskeletal disorder and general fatigue. To overcome this condition it is recommended that the working process of making gamelan remedied through the implementing appropriate technology and ergonomics intervention.

Abstract

Penjahit merupakan salah satu aset penting untuk memenangkan persaingan industri teksil. Sikap kerja selama menjahit dan bekerja dalam jangka waktu yang lama akan memicu timbulnya keluhan muskuloskeletal seperti ketegangan otot dan rasa nyeri pada area punggung bawah. Keluhan ini akan berdampak pada penurunan kemampuan fungsional punggung bawah, sehingga menyebabkan penurunan produktivitas. Hasil wawancara dan penilaian menggunakan Rapid Upper Limb Assesment (RULA) didapatkan hasil sikap kerja penjahit berada di level 6 yang diintepretasikan sebagai posisi kerja penjahit perlu segera dirubah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuktikan pemberian static stretching exercise dapat meningkatkan kemampuan fungsional punggung bawah pada penjahit. Metode penelitian ini adalah eksperimental dengan one group pre test post test design. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan April 2018 dengan pengulangan 3 kali seminggu selama 4 minggu. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 15 orang. Pengukuran fungsional punggung bawah menggunakan modified-modified Schoober test. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data menggunakan Paired Sample t-test menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perubahan yang signifikan setelah pemberian static stretching exercise (p<0,05). Disimpulkan pada penelitian ini adalah kemampuan fungsional punggung bawah dapat ditingkatkan melalui static stretching exercise.
