Abstract

Problem-based learning and experiential learning are well-known learning approaches and often referred as powerful on facilitating learning practices, but which one is the most effective on facilitating civil servant training program? This article illustrates a one-shot case study in which focus on one civil servant training program only without comparing it to other programs. The training program was conducted by human resource development agency, Central Java Province, in March 2018. By employing quantitative research approach, this research found that the result of the training program indicated: there are no significant differences between problem-based learning and experiential learning approaches. In this case, the learning result from experiential learning approach is slightly above problem-based learning approach?s result. Abstrak Pembelajaran berbasis masalah dan berbasis pengalaman merupakan pendekatan pembelajaran yang sudah banyak dikenal dan sering disebut mampu memfasilitasi praktik pembelajaran secara optimal, namun mana di antaranya keduanya yang paling efektif dalam memfasilitasi program pelatihan PNS? Artikel ini menggambarkan one-shot case study yang fokus hanya pada satu program pelatihan PNS tanpa membandingkannya dengan program lain. Program pelatihan ini dilakukan oleh Badan Pengembangan Sumber Daya Manusia (BPSDM), Provinsi Jawa Tengah, pada Maret 2018. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan penelitian kuantitatif dapat dilihat bahwa hasil program pelatihan menunjukkan tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara pembelajaran berbasis masalah dan pembelajaran berbasis pengalaman. Dalam hal ini, hasil pembelajaran dari pendekatan berbasis pengalaman sedikit di atas hasil pembelajaran yang menggunakan pendekatan pembelajaran berbasis masalah.

Abstract

Thailand is one of the greatest Buddhist country in Southeast Asia, therefore the Buddhism values and culture inevitably intervene education, including the curriculum. It is interesting to investigate how Islamic school arranges and develops its own curriculum in order to balance the national interest influenced by Buddhism and the Islamic belief, values, and culture owned by the school in Thailand. This article tries to illustrate Anuban Islam Songkhla School as one of the Islamic schools adapts the national educational policy and arranges their curriculum rooted on Islamic vision. This research found that Songkhla School does not implement all policy endorsed by the government officially due to its incompatibility with the Islamic vision of the school.    Abstrak Thailand adalah salah satu negara Budha terbesar di Asia Tenggara, oleh karena itu nilai-nilai dan budaya Budha tak terelakkan lagi pasti mengintervensi dunia pendidikannya, termasuk kurikulumnya. Sangat menarik untuk menyelidiki bagaimana sekolah Islam di Thailand mengatur dan mengembangkan kurikulumnya sendiri untuk menyeimbangkan kepentingan nasional yang dipengaruhi oleh agama Budha dengan ajaran, nilai-nilai, dan budaya Islam yang dimiliki oleh sekolah tersebut. Artikel ini mencoba menggambarkan Sekolah Songkhla Islam Anuban sebagai salah satu sekolah Islam yang mengadaptasi kebijakan pendidikan nasional dalam upaya menyusun kurikulum mereka sendiri yang berakar pada visi-visi keislaman. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa Sekolah Songkhla tidak menerapkan semua kebijakan yang diberlakukan oleh pemerintah secara resmi, karena memang pada dasarnya tidak semuanya kompatibel dengan visinya sebagai sekolah Islam.

Abstract

Gamelan is one of the most important traditional music instruments of Javanese culture, but it is too expensive for schools to have it. In order to enhance student awareness, sense of belonging and skills on playing Gamelan, this research tried to develop a learning media for Android operating system. By employing research and development (R & D) approach the development process of this research refers to Alessi & Trollip (2001). Adobe flash has been used as a basis of the media development and after several process (planning, design, and development) the learning media is ready to use, because the post-test indicated an increased student score on their understanding and beginner skills on playing Gamelan. At least, this learning media become an alternative way to learn Gamelan traditional music instrument by using Android. Abstrak Gamelan merupakan salah satu instrumen musik tradisional yang paling penting dari budaya Jawa, tetapi terlalu mahal bagi sekolah untuk memilikinya. Untuk meningkatkan kesadaran siswa, rasa memiliki dan keterampilan bermain Gamelan, penelitian ini mencoba mengembangkan media pembelajaran untuk sistem operasi Android. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan penelitian dan pengembangan (R&D) proses pengembangan penelitian ini mengacu pada metode yang dikembangkan oleh Alessi & Trollip (2001). Berikutnya, Adobe Flash telah digunakan sebagai dasar pengembangan media dan setelah beberapa proses (perencanaan, desain, dan pengembangan) media pembelajaran ini siap untuk digunakan, hal itu karena hasil post-test menunjukkan peningkatan skor siswa pada pemahaman dan keterampilan mereka sebagai pemain pemula dalam memainkan Gamelan. Setidaknya, media pembelajaran ini menjadi cara alternatif untuk mempelajari alat musik tradisional Gamelan dengan menggunakan Android.

Abstract

Digital native students need digital art literacy to deal with the contemporary development of art and technology. This article illustrates how smartphone can be used as a powerful tool for that purpose. When student get bored with textual learning approach to study art, simply using smartphone could make learning practice more fun and meaningful. In this article, students in junior public high school 8 in Pare, East Java, grade 8, are directed to create a simple illustration using Sketchbook application on smartphone. It is quite simple, but the process behind the product was made student really enjoy and could express their artistic taste and expression. Thus, smartphone optimazion can be one way among others to encourage student?s digital art literacy which are more enjoyful and meaningful. Abstrak  Siswa yang lahir di era digital membutuhkan literasi seni digital untuk menghadapi perkembangan seni dan teknologi kontemporer. Artikel ini menggambarkan bagaimana telepon pintar dapat diguankan sebagai media yang cukup kuat untuk menunjang tujuan tersebut. Ketika banyak siswa bosan dengan pembelajaran seni yang tekstual saja, cukup dengan menggunakan telepon pintar ternyata dapat membuat pembelajaran lebih menyenangkan dan bermakna. Pada artikel ini, siswa di Sekolah Menengah Pertama Negeri 8 di Pare, Jawa Timur, kelas 8, diarahkan untuk membuat karya seni berupa ilustrasi sederhana menggunakan aplikasi Sketchbook di telepon pintar. Hal ini cukup sederhana sebenarnya, namun proses di balik hasil akhir berupa produk ilustrasi tersebut telah benar-benar membuat siswa menikmati dan dapat mengekspresikan ekspresi dan selera seni masing-masing. Oleh karena itu, optimalisasi telepon pintar dapat menjadi salah satu di antara banyak cara lain untuk mendorong peningkatan literasi seni digital siswa yang lebih menyenangkan dan bermakna.

Abstract

Climate change is urgent world issue that should be face critically by student. This article tries to illustrate one effort to improve student critical thinking skill toward climate change topics through developing Android-based learning module. By employing design and development research (DDR) approach this research using Search, Solve, Create, and Share (SSCS) learning model on producing the module. In the end of the process the module is ready for use because the comparison between experimental class and control class indicates that there is an increasing of student critical thinking skills when they use the module. Therefore, Android and others technological product should be recognize as having huge potential to encourage student awareness and critical thinking toward climate change issues. Abstrak Perubahan iklim adalah masalah dunia yang mendesak yang harus dihadapi secara kritis oleh siswa. Artikel ini menggambarkan satu upaya meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa terhadap topik-topik perubahan iklim dalam mata pelajaran di sekolah melalui pengembangan modul pembelajaran berbasis Android. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan Design & Development Research (DDR) penelitian ini menggunakan model pembelajaran Search, Solve, Create, dan Share (SSCS) dalam pengembangan modulnya. Pada akhir proses, modul siap digunakan karena perbandingan antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol menunjukkan bahwa ada peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa ketika mereka menggunakan modul tersebut. Dengan demikian, Android dan produk teknologi lainnya harus diakui memiliki potensi besar untuk mendorong kesadaran dan daya kritis siswa terhadap masalah perubahan iklim.

Abstract

This article illustrates an effort to create a learning media based on Augmented Reality (AR) to improve student visual spatial intelligence. This type of intelligence is important for student to understand such subjects or topics like spaces, because to completely understand the image student should imagine the object?s shape and space. The lack of learning media in many schools caused the lack of student understanding toward the topic. According to the problem above, this research employing Research & Development (R & D) approach to develop AR-based learning media to facilitate 6th grade student to learn solar system more visually. The post-test has shown that there is an increased number of student visual spatial intelligence, especially on solar system topic. So, it can be concluded that AR-based learning media has huge potential to facilitate student to learn such topics related to space and the like.   Abstrak Artikel ini menggambarkan upaya pengembangan media pembelajaran berbasis Augmented Reality (AR) untuk meningkatkan kecerdasan spasial visual siswa. Jenis kemampuan ini penting bagi siswa untuk memahami subjek atau topik yang berkaitan dengan konsep ruang, karena untuk sepenuhnya memahami gambar, siswa harus membayangkan bentuk dan ruang dari objek tersebut. Kurangnya media pembelajaran di banyak sekolah menyebabkan kurangnya pemahaman siswa tentang topik tersebut. Berdasarkan masalah di atas, penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan Research & Development (R & D) untuk mengembangkan media pembelajaran berbasis AR untuk memfasilitasi siswa kelas 6 belajar tata surya secara lebih visual. Hasil post-test telah menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan kemampuan spasial visual siswa, terutama pada topik tata surya. Jadi, dapat disimpulkan bahwa media pembelajaran berbasis AR memiliki potensi besar untuk memfasilitasi siswa mempelajari topik-topik yang berkaitan dengan ruang dan sejenisnya.

Abstract

Curriculum Studies has evolved for years and already gain its very honorable place in the heart of education studies. Most education scholars said that curriculum is important, curriculum is the heart of education (Priestley & Philippou, 2019), as does curriculum studies. But, how this very important field of studies survive and evolve in this vulnerable and unpredictable era which neoliberal agendas dominating almost educational field around the world? We are witnessing how the culture of positivism, competition ideology, New Managerialism, and even racism and hatred, poisoning and deflect the aims of education. On the other hand, there also a crisis in curriculum studies in which curriculum seems only struggling and focusing on theoretical discourse without any significant influences on the material world. Right in this very difficult position of curriculum studies, the work of Wayne Au is significant. He wrote very important book entitled ?Critical Curriculum Studies: Education, Consciousness, and the Politics of Knowing? in 2012. Which Michael Apple in the series editor introduction said that this work is ambitious and provocative, because it seeks theoretical and epistemological foundation of critical curriculum studies that challenges many basic assumptions about curriculum (Au, 2012, p. xv). I am agree with what has Apple said and through this review book article I would say that Au?s work has huge contribution to the development of curriculum studies in this contemporary era, especially in order to become a tool to change or transform the society to be more democratic and just.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keefektifan media edmodo sebagai penunjang pembelajaran matapelajaran TIK di SMP Negeri 25 Semarang. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu metode kuantitatif deskriptif dengan design one shot casetudy. Populasi dari penelitian yaitu siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 25 Semarang dengan sampel 32 siswa.Teknik pengambilan data dengan pemberian tugas untuk mengetahui hasil belajara siswa setelahmenggunakan media edmodo sebagai penunjang pembelajaran TIK. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pengujian hipotesis menggunakan uji-t satu pihakyaitu uji-t pihak kanan. Berdasarkan perhitungan uji-t pihak kanan, dengan taraf signifkan 5% diperoleh t hitung= 10,0766 sedangkan t tabel= 15,1 Karenat hitung<t tabel maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa rata-rata hasil belajar TIK peserta didik yang diberi pembelajaran dengan media Edmodo lebih tinggidari pada nilaiKriteria Ketuntasan Minimal. Berdasarkan data yang diperoleh, rata-rata hasil belajar peserta didik kelas eksperimen adalah 80,10 sedangkannilai KKM adalah 75. Pembelajaran dengan media penunjang pembelajaran Edmodo pada matapelajaran TIK disimpulkan efektif terhadap hasil belajar TIK pada peserta didik kelas VIII SMP N 25 Semarang tahun pelajaran 2014/2015. This research aims to know the effectiveness of edmodo as a media to support teaching learning process in the subject ICT at SMP Negeri 25 Semarang. The object of this research is students of VIII SMP Negeri 25 Semarang which is 32 samples. Technique of taking the data is by giving assignment to know the result of student’s study after used edmodo as a media to support teaching learning process in TIK material. The result of this research are the t-test of right which has signifcant tariff 5% and the result of t-result (hitung) is 10,0766, t-table is 15,1. It can be conclude that t-result (hitung )<t-table, based on the result of this research it can be conclude that the average of result student’s TIK study which has been given with edmodo higher than criteria result minim for student. The average student’s mark after using edmodo media is 80,10 while the result criteria minim is 75. Based on this research it can be conclude that edmodo media is effective to support teaching learning process in TIK material at VIII students at SMP N 25 Semarang 2014/2015.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keefektifan pelaksanaan pembelajaran tematik terpadu pada siswa kelas IV di SD Negeri Tompomulyo 02 Batangan. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pelaksanaan pembelajaran tematik terpadu telah dilaksanakan sesuai dengan ketentuan dari Diknas mulai dari perencanaan hingga pelaksanaan menggunakaan metode dan memanfaatkan media yang menarik. Dalam pelaksanaan evaluasi guru berusaha melaksanakan penilaian secara benar. Akan tetapi masih terdapat beberapa kendala yang menjadikan tujuan pembelajaran belum dapat tercapai sepenuhnya. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa pelaksanaan pembelajaran tematik terpadu masih kurang efektif karena dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan dan evaluasi pembelajaran tidak semua dijalankan dengan baik.This research aims to find out the effectiveness of integrated thematic learning approach for elementary school, especially in grade 4 in elementary public school Tompomulyo 02 Batangan. By employing qualitative approach the research show that the implementation of thematic integrated learning approach has been implemented and in accordance with the provision of the Departmen of Education from learning design to the learning process by using interesting learning media and method. Moreover in the learning process teacher always try to conduct an assessment according to the right and proper assessment method. However there are some obstacles that restrict the learning objective achievement optimally. The conclusion of this reseach is: the implementation of thematics integrated learning approach is less effective, because its planning, implementation and evaluation phase are not going well.

Abstract

Abstrak __________________________________________________________________________________________ Pengembangan bahan ajar berbasis budaya jawa bertujuan untuk mengenalkan budaya local dan menanamkan karakter yang ada di dalam budaya lokal kepada generasi muda. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode Research and Development (R &amp;D). Metode penelitian ini digunakan untuk menghasilkan produk tertentu dan menguji keefektifan produk yang dihasilkan. Hasil penelitian diperoleh dari angket validasi oleh pakar ahli dan tanggapan guru bahan ajar dinyatakan layak, untuk selanjutnya digunakan dalam pembelajaran sehari-hari. Hasil keaktifan siswa dan tanggapan guru dalam pembelajaran memberikan tanggapan yang sangat baik. Abstract __________________________________________________________________________________________ The Development of teaching materials based on Java cultures aimed to introduce the culture of local culture and embed the characters which are in the local culture to the younger generation. The research method is the Research and Development (R &amp; D). This is used to produce a particular product and test its effectiveness. The results of validation questionnaireby expert lecturers and teacher response ofteaching materials are feasible, and furthermore it can use in daily learning. The results of students activity and teachers responsesin learning give a very good response.
